This was our second time staying at this hotel. We love the old time feel it has. The rooms are clean and contain everything you need to make a small meal or make some tea. The common areas are terrific for reading a book, playing the piano or some chess. We will definitely be back for our next trip in SJ. The location is terrific and it's very accessible to walk to all of the uptown restaurants and attractions in 5 mins or less from the hotel.

I'm not sure if we just misread the information but we thought our room was going to have a large soaker tub. There wasn't one, so this was a bit of a disappointment. But there was a regular to smaller sized tub and shower in the bathroom that was well equipped with toiletries and lots of towels.

Beautiful century home. Amazing rooms on the main floor. Everything is immaculately clean and the bed was comfortable. Great shampoo and soaps , coffee and tea were provided.

It’s such a shame that the main floor rooms are probably not used. There is no food or beverage service, no cafe or meals available. It would be lovely to sit and enjoy those rooms. A perfect opportunity for a B and B. But our suite was not terribly practical. In order to watch tv we had to lie in bed. There was really no practical place to put our belongings. No elevator but absolutely no way there could be one in this lovely old home. All in all however, a great place to stay in St John.

The building itself is very nice and well-kept. Quiet, and the room and bed were very comfortable. Having laundry facilities on-site is nice, though we didn't use them. It was easy to walk to the waterfront, a nice coffee shop, and restaurants.

The parking situation is not ideal. We parked in the school parking lot across the street per arrangement, but there were several guys hanging in/around that lot in the evening/night. One was trying doors on cars in the lot. We were on a long road trip and had an expensive cooler, camping mattress, and other things in the car, so we didn't feel it would be good to leave it in that unsecured lot with transient folks overnight. We found our own parking elsewhere.

The place was easy to find. The parking situation was extremely well specified so I was able to park without problems. I met with no people but the instructions were so complete I had no problems getting in. The room was pretty quiet, given that it's in a city, and the bed was extremely comfortable.

When I turned on the shower and stepped in, the floor of the bathtub was so slippery that a fall seemed inevitable. There's a large rail inside the stall you could use to catch yourself but that seemed a ridiculous solution. I stepped back out of the stall and didn't bother taking the shower. I've never done that before, anywhere. There's something especially slick about the material of the tub and shower stall that felt like an unexpected danger. I wound up washing in the sink.

We loved the historic building on Sydney Street. Full of character, it greeted us with its beautiful common rooms on the main floor, taking us back in time. We had clear instructions as to parking and entering the building and felt quite welcomed by the note left for us in our room. Extras were provided such as books through the building and a washer and dryer for our use. If we needed anything, housekeeping was there to provide. The bedroom in our suite had a beautiful bedroom suite with ample storage for clothing, and most importantly the bed was heavenly to sleep in.

Location was excellent in heart of Saint John....walked everywhere we wanted to go including to nearby Cora's which is great breakfast place.

One small glitch. We parked in a school lot across street per written options indicating certain spaces available in the summer. Summer had begun (technically) as we were there 6/24 - 6/25 but I was informed (as we were leaving) that school was still in session...apparently til July 1??? Which is much later than my experience in the US. Well, at least we didn't get towed!!

This elegant home was outstanding! The whole first floor was beautifully furnished and open to the guests. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the conservatory for cocktails. We were able to walk to shopping and restaurants with this convenient location. Chipman Suites are a real gem! We gave it the highest recommendation.

The building was gorgeous, the common spaces were beautiful and welcoming. Our room was small but had everything we could ever need, the kitchenette was unexpected but so useful! Even with no front desk or staff on site, we had no issues getting in or finding anything.

The only thing that was strange was the bed on wheels, it moved every time we got in to bed

We loved staying in this historic property. Although we didn’t have much time to explore it, we were delighted to discover the period-decorated rooms. The location was so convenient to King’s Square and the Market. Our room was cozy but well equipped with a kitchenette and air conditioner. The check-in process went very smoothly by following instructions received by email from the property team.

We found the room was a bit small for the two of us even though we just had carry on sized luggage, but worked it out for our short stay.

It was close to downtown and it was very clean. And their check in procedure was effortless. And the maintenance staff where quick to assess my concerns with my loose bed. It was noted and my concerns were satisfied. The decor was very nice and reflects the Era of the structure. Plenty of seating space and little nooks to sit and relax.
