We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and always willing to help, which made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The atmosphere throughout the resort was warm and relaxing, and the beach was absolutely beautiful – clean, peaceful, and with a stunning view we never got tired of. Breakfasts were delicious and varied, with something for everyone to enjoy.

One thing worth noting is that a part of the hotel is still under construction, so the area around the pool wasn’t as attractive as the rest of the resort. Also, nearly every day there were local fishermen encouraging guests to join in with their activities. While this was interesting at first and offered a unique experience, it did become a bit tiresome over time. And some days was very bad wifi connection.

Great fresh food, cold beers and not too sweet cocktails. And if the sand and the waves get too much, and you aren’t already staying at the hotel, you can use the pool for free (if you purchase a meal). Friendly, attentive and hospitable staff - that’s really the standout for this place! They truly care about their guests enjoying their food and stay. Also they allow you to pay in different currencies (at a rate better than most banks!) We stayed here for two nights, it’s easy to understand why most people stay at Frangipani for at least a week! Comfy beds, clean rooms, reliable wifi and great food - right on the beach. There’s no real reason to leave! However - the corners of the bathroom could be cleaner

Good location, couple steps from the beach. Swimming pool as well, super close, nice and clean. Spacious room with airco and fan, clean, coffee/tea set and kettle provided. Small fridge under the table. The staff friendly and helpful, they arranged me hair dryer and cuttlery to my room. We got welcoming juice gratis. Good breakfast, western style. Dinner available, bar, sun beds for free for the guests, can get a herbal massage on the beach. We enjoyed our stay!

Can't complain about the room or service, we had no unpleasant experiences there. Everyone was nice and helpful. Food in the hotel restaurant is a bit expensive comparing to other local restaurants. Plus you are charged 10% service fee even if you only order 1 beer at the bar. Would be nice to have shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom.

We stayed 4 nights in January and loved the Frangipani most out of all the places we stayed on our trip. Located right on the beach, it has a real "beach hotel" vibe. You can chill over coffee and watch the fisherman haul in their nets in the morning. The pool is superb and overlooks the beach. There are lots of areas to chill and relax and the friendly staff really can't do enough for you. The breakfast was 10/10 with different things every day and the restaurant food was excellent and not overly expensive. Our room was rustic - not smart - but perfectly functional with a good shower with hot water and a comfortable bed. We loved the outside terrace and the constant sound of the sea. For the money, the Frangipani was the best hotel with the best facilities (and staff) we stayed at on our trip and we can't wait to come back

We liked everything - just for information, there's not a great deal around the hotel. It's a 10 minute walk to the town which is a proper working town not a tourist place. We visited the market and shops which were interesting - and there were a couple of really good bakeries! The tuk tuks are cheap too.

Nicely situated, more or less on the beach, watching the fishermen collecting their nets next to us an extra attraction (where a hand from tourists was appreciated). Good food with varied breakfast. Personnel very service minded. The common area, with restaurant, reception, pool, playground, felt like a big living room in an old colonial mansion surrounded by palms. We added an extra two nights to our pre booked three nights and we have recommended a stay to our friends who will visit Sri Lanka in January.

Some intermittent noice from building activities. If you don’t like music around you can be served dinner right at the edge of the sea and listen to the roaring waves and watch the little crabs in the sand waking up after sunset.l

Great location right on the beach with a great choice of restaurants close by. Food was great and breakfast was varied. Staff were very friendly and helpful

We had a family room which was a great size with two double four poster beds but nowhere to put your clothes. No wardrobe or drawers or any surface for unpacking anything, lived out of suitcase. The tiles around pool were lethal when wet. We ate every night at the hotel as the food was excellent, a bit more expensive than lots of places but the quality was exceptional and showed skill however it did take a while for food to arrive

Beautiful hotel on the beach with an amazing pool, very nice and helpful staff and even better food! Absolutely satisfied, food and drink of a high standard, staff always helpful to meet all needs. The hotel is in the green planet program and therefore it is sometimes necessary to take into account that the water heaters are on solar panels, so the water does not run completely hot if the sun is not shining. But as I say, the hotel resonates with nature and the solar panels are a big plus in terms of energy. In any case, the fact that the boiling water does not run completely is not a problem. Everything is compensated by the great atmosphere and everything around. We would highly recommend it.

Very friendly staff who welcomed us always. When we arrived we were given a welcome drink and helped to our room. The staff were very attentive to our short stay. The bed is huge and the room had a mosquito net and a mosquito repellent diffuser which was appreciated. The breakfast was adapted for us as we are vegan and the smoothies were yummy. They also helped us order lunch which was vegan and tasted good. Finally, the owner sorted a driver to Ella on our departure which was a good price!

Just to note the villa is by the local fisherman which cast nets out all day. It can be interesting to watch but not to everyone’s needs.

Our stay at this property was truly unforgettable, setting a new standard for exotic vacations in Sri Lanka. Beach: The beach is right in front of the property, offering breathtaking views and direct access to the golden sands. It's truly a remarkable experience—unlike anything we've ever had before. The sound of the waves and the serenity of the location make it an absolute paradise. Rooms: The rooms are exceptionally clean, especially when compared to other accommodations we've experienced in Sri Lanka. They were well-maintained, comfortable, and created a very pleasant atmosphere for relaxation. Breakfast: The breakfast here exceeded all expectations—it was simply “wow.” The variety, freshness, and taste were all top-notch, making it one of the highlights of our stay. Wi-Fi: The Wi-Fi was surprisingly fast, contrary to some of the lower ratings we’ve seen. It worked perfectly for us, which was a pleasant surprise. Swimming Pool: The swimming pool is fantastic, offering a stunning ocean view that adds a luxurious touch to the property. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the tropical vibes. In summary, this was the best stay we've had in Sri Lanka, and possibly on any exotic vacation. Everything about the property, from the beachfront location to the exceptional amenities, was perfect. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for an extraordinary getaway!

Honestly, there was nothing we didn’t like—everything was just perfect! From the stunning beachfront location to the immaculate rooms, incredible breakfast, and fantastic pool with an ocean view, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. It was flawless in every way!

The hotel is right in front of the beach, very nice lay out, sunbeds, and sport to chill around the beach or pool. The fresh juice are amazing and cocktails tío, tottaly recommend it. The only problem was they were building a new Build near the pool so it wasn't that noisy, but they haven't cover it properly, to separately the spaces and more Privacy at the pool. But the rest very good, rooms, personal and food. Location is good just couple of block far away from the restaurants.

I will suggest to covered properly the building side with the pool, and make it nicer, because the pool is very nice spot and clean.
