Location is excellent, because many long hiking routes start from Popradske pleso, and if you don't want to walk in the morning extra 4km from parking to the start - staying in this hotel is perfect option. We had double room with a lake view and big private bathroom. They serve breakfast from 6:00 and breakfast is very rich, they serve even prosecco! In the evening restaurant and bar are open until 21 and 22, you can seat in common rooms, everything is very cosy! If you want to start your hike earlier, you can ask "grab and go" breakfast.

You need to book in advance, if you want to get the room (even bed in dormitory) especially in high season and on weekends.

We (the couple) stayed in the hikers room (8 bunk beds). The room was big. You get one key per room and you have to return the key to the reception. There are bathrooms, hikers kitchen and showers. The showers are shared with no division. The breakfast is served from 6-10am. It was really delicious. They played good relaxing music too. You can leave very early for your hikes. There is wellness area for 25€ including: jacuzzi, dry sauna and cold plunge. You can bring beer in. The restuarant is big and food tasty. The stuff so quick and helpful, everying run so smoothly. Guys, you were great! The manager must be amazing, the whole team is stunning. Thank you for letting us stay with you!

- oligopoly, as in no competition in the immediate vicinity, thus not much incentive for major renovations/improvements; probably because its a protected area by the law - some of the reception staff seems to be "tired" by the high influx of tourists - the hotel brings back visual reminiscences of the glorious communism period within Eastern Europe; those familiar with it will understand what I mean :) - small rooms // outdated - high prices for everything

Everything! Can't really put into the words how beautiful the location is... but the hotel is perfect. The staff are lovely and willing to help you, advice you etc at all times. The food in the restaurant is very good and portions are perfect to refuel after (or before) hiking. The facilities are great! Just what you need. Couldn't recommend more :)

Only little details is that there were no plugs in the room, just 2 USB entries and we were 4, but you can still charge things when at the restaurant etc, so no majoy issues. And no curtains in the room so we basically woke up as soon as it was bright (but the place is so beautiful and so many hikes to do that it's probably for the best anyway).

Great location by the lake. Amazing breakfast buffet with a lot of choice. Room was nice and bed comfy with access to big terrace. Dorm was quiet a there was only 2 of us in the room. Small kitchen available if you want to cook for yourself, otherwise buffet kitchen is available on site. Food was great quality and decent portion. There a communal room for people staying in the hostel.

Not many power sockets available in the room. Good showers as well but be warned that it is a shared space so no individual showers - might not suit if you are body shy!

Place is in a stunning setting, we were there for climbing. The shared rooms are fine, all you’d expect of bunk bedrooms. Bathrooms are ok. Most showers are shared, four people can shower at the same time in full view of each other which I’m not a fan of. The food and the staff are great. The breakfast is absolutely amazing!! overall really loved my time there and I would go back!

Didn’t love the shared showers. Didn’t love the sparse vegetarian options at dinner (plenty at brekkie, thank you!). The place can get VERY crowded as well, it’s mega touristy due to its location. Not a criticism but if you’re looking for a a quiet hut in the mountains, this is not it :) also, found it quite expensive for our budget.

The hotel has just amazing location, near beautiful Popradske lake, at the feet of High Tatras, where you can start hiking to Rysy, or Koprovsky Stit, or to Strbske Pleso. Location is just perfect. The room was nice for a dorm - we had bedsheets and towels included, which is not so obvious in mountain dorms. Room was cozy and warm, we had a balcony with stunning view. There is small kitchen, where you can boil the water or warm up food in the microvave, so if you are on the budget, you don't have to eat in the restaurant, you can prepare your own food. Really big hotel, with spacious corridors, balonies, nice terrace, comfy and cool living room / chillout area where you can rest after long hike. There is huge drying space in the basement where they have cool heaters for shoes. You can also leave your big backpack here if you are going to the mountains and you have already checked-out, or not yet checked-in. Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and beer in the hotel. Free wifi was working well. Beds were comfortable, we had enough space for all our stuff in the rooms.

The minus is that there are only 2 sockets for whole room to plug in your USB charger (and there were 8 people in the room). So if you are not fast enough, you must charge your devices in the living room and wait for them to be charged before you go to sleep. The minus is also that the living room is closed for the night, and they open it at 7:00 am., so if we leave early in the morning, we cannot use the room to sit and e.g. eat our own breakfast. The bathrooms with showers are a little bit odd - like in the swimming pool - one big space with showers, without any walls/curtains, so everyone can see everyone and everything. The hotel is a little bit expensive in the weekends and generally more expensive than similar properties in Polish Tatras, but this is the thing in Slovakian Tatras.

This is my second review for this hotel in the last month. I came alone in September and persuaded my wife to come with me for a late season bargain break in October. We had an economy room on the 3rd floor - this time I found out there is an alternative staircase so the narrow metal stairs don't need to be used. Good to know! The room was very pleasant, warm and clean. Nice big bathroom. As before, the breakfasts were superb. The late season price was very good value although, of course, the risk is that the weather won't allow much hiking ( we were lucky - cold and a sprinkling of snow but generally fine).

The place is awesome. View is amazing and it's reallly easy to get to this house. Clean, calm and comfortable accomondation. Food & drinks are also good.

1. There is only one socket for the 8-people room. It's not enough for this large group of people 2. The water in the toilet is flowing non-stop and because of this the persnel turns in off at night. The source of problem needs to be fixed. Just turning off the water at night is not a solution

There is a nice spread of rooms with different comfort levels, ranging from rooms with a common bathroom (with no power outlet!) to huge, fully equipped deluxe double rooms. If you want comfort, you can get it for money. The breakfast was fabulous. The location is splendid; just be prepared for a 5 km hike from the nearest parking lot. I recommend central parking at Štrbské Pleso.

Just be sure to book the room at a comfort level that fits your needs!
