The staff were excellent. The manager Nonku couldn't have been more helpful and the live-in chef prepared delicious fresh dishes for dinner and breakfast. The property is a multi-million pound residence that has been turned into a boutique hotel and is beautiful. We stayed in the Presidential suite and it was outstanding. Huge, beautifully decorated rooms with a balcony that overlooks the bird sanctuary at the front and a huge seating area overlooking the gardens / tennis courts at the back. The hotel is located in a residential area so is very quiet and also very secure. It is also very close to the airport (15 minutes away) and a complimentary shuttle is provided. The price for the night was excellent value for money.

I think the property would struggle to adequately feed all the guests if all the rooms were occupied. The hotel is in a residential area and I didn't see any restaurants in the vicinity so you have to eat in the hotel. The chef prepared a beautiful dinner but it was only one course (no starter or dessert) and one choice of meal. The bed sheets and pillow cases looked tired and didn't looked laundered well.

Staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The presidential suite was amazing with it's 2 private terraces, lounge and dressing area which was perfect for our family wedding trip. The food was amazing, cooked by 2 very friendly chefs, and the garden and pool area is to die for!! So tropical listening to all the birds in the garden and also viewing the flamingos from one of our terraces, fabulous! Would highly recommend as it is also in a secure gated area right next to the bird lake.

Nothing, apart from one very small observation in that it might be wise to have a small 'private' sign on corridor sliding door to our private terrace as we found other guests sitting there by accident one day, they moved straight away when we told them it was a private area and apologised as there were no signs.

We had a spacious room. We had good breakfasts and the dinner on our second night was excellent. The chef came and chatted with us beforehand and checked what we would like. On our first night they were not serving dinner as it was a public holiday so a member of staff drove us to a nearby restaurant and collected us at the end of the meal. The same member of staff had collected us from the airport. The location was perfect as our balcony overlooked a bird sanctuary with a lake. The area was very safe and we enjoyed the two kilometer walk around the lake. We saw many birds including flamingos and a Goliath Heron. The terrace outside the bar had an even better view of the lake. The staff were very helpful, the service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble.

We would have liked a cafe or bar within waking distance of the hotel.

We drove up from Durban and arrived quite late, we were welcomed and assisted to our room which was clean, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. Woke up to a beautiful breakfast the next morning and we ordered the 3 course meal with the chef the next night. Have to compliment her, the food was outstanding, as was her table manner, she kept checking on us and if we were happy with the food and experience. She is an absolute asset to this establishment. The staff in general are lovely and very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely visit again. Thank you for a great time.

All the staff were exceptional. The hotel was clean as well. Neighborhood safe. My kids enjoyed walks and jogs around the lake as well. The chef knows her art, and the food is always good. Good communication . I have definitely found a new home, away from home. We even booked 2 more future nights and can not wait to stay there again...our two additional nights were just as exceptional. They went out of their way to accommodate us by checking in early since I wasn't feeling well and needed to rest. Not only that, they also made me a special drink to soothe my achy body. This was definitely home away from home, plus some. Thank you so much, ausi Thato, Molondo, and the rest of the staff. Out of everywhere we stayed and visited during our month long vacation, One 0 Eight was the best by far!

This was no fault of theirs, but they still compensated for the loadshedding very well. They have a back-up for power outages, making out stay enjoyable. There was no time that we went without power or lights

What a little gem. We needed a hotel close enough to the international airport for an over night stay but still felt like we had started our holiday. One O Eight was the perfect choice. We woke up to the most glorious sunrise over a beautiful pond ... which had pink flamingo's in it by the way ... and the breakfast we had before we left on the next leg of our journey was nothing short of delicious. The staff were fantastic and really helpful. Would I recommend this hotel ... oh yes! Not only will I recommend it but from now on it will be the hotel we stay at after the long flight from Australia. 10/10 ... well done One O Eight Boutique Hotel, you are a diamond in the rough.

I expected a restuarant as this was what was advertised. But they had a chef ( or her assistant) on duty for meals, who were both excellent, They prepared outstanding meals but the choice was limited to what the other family was having. ( there were only two lots of guests at the time) I enjoyed very much what was prepared and presented, Very warmly welcomed- very comfortable surrounds. Staff delightful - Feels like one is going to stay in the upmarket home of a good friend. The view and area is very tranquil- lovely walk around the Bird Sancturary

There is a lack of finesse in places - e.g. no serviettes or placemats provided with the meals; lack of toilet paper in the WCs; lack of toiletries in the bathroom e.g. shower cap. Very limited basic wines and no sparking water MY toilet kept running and running; The staff did not seem to know how to deal with boistrous children who were running riot, although they did try. Management need to be more confident to set guidelines/ boundaries so all guests are happy. Communication with the advertised outsource spa did not seem to work effectively or maybe it was just me.

The chef was amazing - accommodating my vegan diet and making tasty and BEAUTIFUL meals. Felt like a Michelin-star restaurant. The hotel is generally so beautiful. I wish my stay was longer so I could enjoy the place more. It would be great to relax and chill with friends/family.

There was an error on the website which suggested that there was a room with two separate beds. This was not the case and was difficult to address as we arrived in the middle of the night. My father had to sleep on the sofa bed, which was not as comfy, nor were there adequate supplies for it (e.g., a duvet cover for the bedding, a clean bedsheet). Nevertheless, the website corrected this mistake to avoid future errors, and we were given a complimentary lunch and a bottle of wine to make up for this error.

The most amazing stay, with such friendly staff and top quality, very well presented food by the 2 lovely chefs. The staff were very interested in our family wedding and we're so happy for us, even providing coffees for extra family members who came to visit us at the hotel. The rooms were amazing and soo much space, would definitely book the presidential suite again in the future.
