The bus to the mall is back and running. The Spur restaurant nearby

The BC Café staff was very slow. Even when we called for room service, we had to dial a few times before they could answer. As frequent guests, we always choose this hotel, and not even once did we get any notice nor acknowledgement... such a pity. On our departure last Sunday, the bus driver did not drop us at the airport departure terminal. He left us with all our baggage at the back of the Intercontinental Hotel, and we have to look for trolley and walk all the way, and to make it bad, we had an elderly relative who couldn't walk fast. If the bus does not drop off guests at the departure terminals, we should be informed upon check-in about this to prevent any inconveniences.

Food was well cooked.

On the 12th of September in my room 5560...I got locked in the toilet for 2 hours...the door couldn't open. I tried calling out for help by screaming and banging the wall. I was suffocating and scared. I prayed...Tried fixing the handle but it broke. Just when I was about to give up...a miracle happened...I pulled a handle steel inside the door and turned it over and the door opened...all thanks to God....the worst could have happened. I reported the matter to the house keeper who organized mantanance but not sure if management was informed. It was such a traumatic experience.

It was clean, everything mentioned was available in the room.

It was too busy for my liking, but again their facilities allow for it to be as busy as can be. Some people were singing and ululating in the parking lots closer to the rooms, I wouldn’t enjoy that if I was there for a longer period to relax. Cleaning staff knocked at our room at 9am, when I opened and they saw we were still in, they left their cleaning cart right at our door. Felt like they couldn’t wait to kick us out, like we had to rush and leave for them, checkout is at 11.

Room was close to a laundry area/workstation; early in the morning, there was a lot of noise like crates and some sort of banging outside my room. Beside that all was good and team members were friendly and efficient. Thanks to the team at the restaurant close to reception for allowing me to use their board room for my conference call. I asked at reception for a quiet place to make an hour conference call since my room was not ready as i came early at 11h00 and the hotel was full. Luckly, the restaurant next to reception came to my rescue.

Noise early in the morning, time was before 06h00

1. The best customer service environment ever. They make the place feel more a home, from online enquiries to check in to answering questions, to PROMPT attention to any issues you report. 2. The buffet breakfast is on point, absolute freshness, variety, just the right amount of seasoning, no greesy/oily food, their baked beans was so tasty, with enough mixed peppers 3. The rooms are clean & spacious, the shuttle bus driver was the 1st person we met at airport without eveb prior arrangements. A true gentleman. 4. If you forget something in the room, you definitely get it back. The lady who did our house keeping the day we checked out, Itumeleng, came to find us to give us an item we left behind. 5. I had to ask for a picture with the pleasant chef who made us the ommelete just the way we wanted it 👌🏾 6. The shops are just outside the gate on the opposite side of the main gate, on the right, a steak house is just the 1st left turn on that road and East Rand shopping mall just a 3 minutes walk opposite that. Precisely 800m from the hotel

Nothing really, We had no handtowels, but we used one of the bath towels. When the entire service is so good, small don't like that don't even get noticed.

Room. I loved that the room had the feel of an individual little chalet and was not like a typical hotel room. It had a little kitchen area and a door opening to the garden. It also felt very safe, and the restaurant was great! The whole property had the vibe of a little town you can walk around in, and it was lovely.

Shower. The only negative experience was the shower. To have a hot shower you had to turn it all the way to max heat, and then there was no pressure. I had to wash my hair over the sink to get the soap out.

Everything was great as always. One can never go wrong with Birchwood. I was glad I managed to geta slot since place is always fully booked. I recommend it to this place to anyone willing to get away a while with loved ones, special someone and for companies to have their meetings, conferences, team buildings or even school programs for the youth.

Just not packing me breakfast at 6:11am when I went to ask on my way out as I had to leave early for work where I had to be by 7:15am. I really had no time to sit and eat and had to leave on an empty stomach, couldn't even pick a fruit to take away. I really didn't expect that from them.

They are organised and everything is working! From entering the gate to the reception and to your room. Our flight was very early in the morning so we were unable to sit and have a breakfast, instead the staff at reception suggested we take the “take-away” breakfast option. The next morning our breakfast packages were ready to be collected at 05:00am from reception. When we arrived at the airport we easily got through the security gates there, they allowed food. In the airplane when we opened the packages, oh my goodness !!! We both found the most delicious food in there, croissants, peaches, an apple, bottled water, muesli, yogurt, healthy snack bar, a chocolate , fruit juice, small Simba chip pack and a blueberry muffin!!!!

The spacious room, the things provided in the room like dryer, microwave, toaster, iron, plates, dish washer and utensils. It was my first time seeing a hotel room with such equipment and It was the best for my 6 nights stay. I also loved the transport we were provided with within the hotel, to and from our rooms. The shuttle service to the airport was the best. Thank you Birchwood hotel The kindness of the receptionists, at first I booked for a room with 1 queen bed and I did not change the room when I added another guest but during check in I was given a room with 2 Queen beds for the comfort of both of us, we did not have to share a bed. I am grateful, they made our stay at the hotel very comfortable and we felt safe.

Seems when staying more than one night, refreshments aren't replenished. Very inconsistent with what they replenish. The dinner included in our stay was a bit disappointing. The boma dinner, at 7pm, no fish or tacos were ready. The grill dinner, meat was fatty. Potatoes tasted like left overs from the night before. Dom pedro ordered was supposed to have amarula. Well, it was a vanilla milkshake. Disappointing to say the least.
