We loved this beautiful, luxurious, historic hotel. The artwork, the comfy sofa’s and fireplace in the lounge and bar was very inviting. Our room was on the top floor in a room with a gabled ceiling, something akin to being at Downtown Abbey, but Dutch. While we loved our room, the comfy bed, the soaking tub and sitting area overlooking the garden and pool, the next flight down on the second floor I noticed the garden terrace rooms were beautiful, with full French doors leading out to a private terrace. I wish I had known about them. The garden off the dining room was spectacular. such a pretty view.Later we walked outside and remarked that the grounds were really a small botanical garden with the 2nd largest and oldest Cinamon Camphor tree in South Africa. Really a stunning place to stay.

Having come from a 9 day, first class safari in Botswana, where the service was 110% impeccable, I hate to compare anyplace after that. As mentioned the room was comfortable and fully stocked, but the room attendant, didn’t remove dirty glasses with new ones and I asked for 4 bottles of water and only received 2 and we could have used a couple more small towels. But honestly it is easy enough to remedy the situation and perhaps the management can emphasize this to there housekeeping staff.

Everything was amazing. We wanted luxury, and we got it in bucketloads! This is, to date, the best hotel I have stayed in in the Cape. Attention to detail was 1st class. Very comfortable beds and lovely bathroom with a separate dressing area. We also had a lounge area with a complimentary, well stocked mini bar. Such a nice touch to also include bar snacks. The whole estate is gorgeous, and Constantia is beautiful. The staff were so helpful and happy! They even have a resident tortoise! Food was plentiful and delicious.

Absolutely nothing! Loved our stay and will definitely return next trip

We had a lovely two-night stay at The Cellars. The very classical VOC building is perfectly located underneath table mountain and just 35min from the airport. Our highlight was the property‘s garden with trees that are a couple of hundred years old, a beautiful pool area, rose gardens and…two wonderful old tortoises! The Green Restaurant offers captivating views over the garden and the table mountain and the staff is very subtle and incredibly friendly. Good food, stunning interior, some duck families and the gym finish the great experience we had. Would always come back!

Everything! From now on, we will always stay here while in CapeTown! The grounds are absolutely beautiful….feel as though you’re staying in a botanical garden. Rooms are very spacious and charming…all amenities including a private patio. Staff is extremely accommodating and friendly…all of them! The new Conservatory dining area is beautifully decorated…inside & outside seating. Breakfasts were delicious with extensive choices including a full buffet before the main meal. Dinners were very good & nice selections. Shuttle service to CapeTown and Constantia shopping center were included as well.

Liked it all.

Excellent in every way. Location, rooms, facilities, service, people. Literally everything. It was a perfect place for a perfect 2 weeks. We also particularly liked the supporting travel service 'Escape to the Cape' - who laid on a couple of lovely tours. Amazing tour guide - Russell.

Genuinely, there was nothing that we did not like. The staff were all very responsive and flexible and focused upon our needs. Nothing was too much trouble.

Great stay and great hotel, it has been on my bucket list for many years and I actually did my chef training in the kitchen 25 years ago! It did not disappoint, just lovely in every respect. Even the entry level double room is lovely and so very well appointed. I could not ask for anything more. LOVED breakfast and the buffet, beautifully presented and so tasteful, The team offered extreme care and support when my dad visited in a wheelchair. I was bowled over by their care and concern. The spa is absolutely worth a visit too and the complimentary steam session for hands-on treatment over 60 minutes. Loadshedding does not affect the hotel and its well appointed on all levels. Top notch!

Noisy staff in the bar and restaurant areas, often watching load tinny YouTube videos on their phones and talking to each other noisily as if no guests were in the area. This was jarring and not in keeping with previous visits to the Cellars as a day visitor/restaurant guest. I was also disappointed that Martini cocktails were served in tumblers with loads of ice, not in keeping with the name. Little improvements to team training and consideration to guests in restaurant and bar areas will go a long way,

The property is extraordinary. Over 200 years old garden, woods, meadows and vineyard but the buildings look fresh and comfortable with a great restaurant, several pools and tennis court. Situated in the heart of Constatia wine country. While a car is a must, chauffer driven cars and vans are readily available from the hotel to guide one to the very best places to visit. Recommend staying at least three nights.

Leaving.

The friendly staff, location, facilities, garden, food, rooms - ambiance of the place. They are really good hosts, it’s an excellent choice for a holiday. Very beautiful, the garden was really special - have a look at the pictures for more details, the views from the property are good - whichever way you look. I love The Cellars-Hohenort, it’s a special place, I’ll be back!

Nothing. My family loved it.

Magnificent location, beautiful hotel with warm and friendly staff

Some of the furniture in the room was a bit worn. The rooms digital capabilities were a bit dated: USB A chargers, only SA power, no USB speaker, cheap televisions brand choice. Shower floor is dangerously slippery. Bathroom amenities were lacking, could not find a toothbrush. Though by international standards the suite was very affordable it did not feel 5 stars. Complimentary bottle of wine again tasted cheap and they in the wine valley!
