Overall, the hotel was very good. The staff are generally friendly and helpful, particularly in the dining area. The view from the upstairs rooms is very pretty over the river. The aircon works well and the rooms and bathrooms are spacious. The hotel's general areas are well kept, and it was decorated very prettily for the festive season. Breakfasts were tasty, plentiful and varied.

The restaurant for dinner though is supposed to be fine dining but did not meet expectation. The steaks were not well cooked - and I was offered margarine instead of butter for the baked potatoes - not 4* in my opinion. We did not eat at there again. Only one side of the toaster was working so you had to wait very long for toast in the morning. While seeming clean, there were a few areas overlooked in the bathroom. The pictures of the pool are misleading on the internet; but is fine for young children to play.

We initially booked the standard rooms however we upgraded it upon arrival. It was a good decision to upgrade as the standard rooms were small, no movement space and had no view at all. The rooms facing the river are extremely spacious and equipped with everything you need. The bathrooms was spacious too. The view at night over the lake is beautiful. The breakfast was great. The staff at the breakfast tables was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The pool was alot smaller than advertised in the pictures. The standard rooms are alot smaller than advertised.

Breakfast was amazing! Served buffet style with assorted cereals, pastries, juices, fruits, yogurts etc and a breakfast menu. Breakfast staff is hands on ensuring tables are cleared of crockery not in use and refilling the buffet section The service is impeccable. We received a warm welcome and escorted to our room. They even offered to assist with our luggage. Parking is open parking but there is CCTV and security visibility. Rooms were stocked with water bottles as Port Alfred water is salty. Superb location with easy access to the beach, activities, restaurants and shops.

The location of the hotel was convenient as it is right at the town center. The rooms were very clean and the moment you stepped into the room you were welcomed by a pleasant eucalyptus scent. The breakfast was delicious and we always looked forward to it. The service people were also warm and friendly and quickly responded to any queries.A great stay overall that I would gladly redo when I’m back in Port Alfred.

The staff throughout were exceptional. The food was exquisite. On the second day we noticed a plumbing problem and reported it. The member of staff who dealt with the issue during load shedding quickly said that they would change our room, but would need the power to come back on so that they could issue the new room. Within 5 minutes of the power coming back on, she came back and took us to our new room. Unbeknown to us we had been upgraded to a larger room with an exceptional view, which completely blew us away.

The staff were exceptional, the Breakfast really really met my expectations. And value for money, oh Lord i was soo much happy, it was as though I was offered a stay for free. But please work on your aircons though, they had been faulty during my stay. However your establishment is amazing

It was a two days stay so i didn't stay long enough to experience the bad. The only thing that I did not like was that the aircon was faulty and we were cold.

The breakfast (included in our stay)was excellent, as were all the other meals we had there, some lunches and dinners. In fact, for the 3 nights we were there, and after sampling the lunch, the only meal we had outside the hotel was on the first night.

Our room was situated right above the entrance and overlooking the parking area. There was obviously no view and it was rather noisy.

Room was well-appointed and breakfast was very good and in a lovely setting with outdoor seating in the riverbank. Location was central and walkable to several dinner options. Nice restaurant and bar on site.

Some confusion at checkout around payment, staff thought payment would go through Booking.com but then it didn't, I had to go back to the hotel to pay a few hours later. But the front desk staff were apologetic and handled it well.

Easy check-in process. The rooms are a good size, clean and the pillows comfortable. The shower water was hot even through loadshedding. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as it can be. The bar lady was exceptional!

Some of the food was disappointing. On Friday we ordered the braai special, the food was cold (but understandably it was loadshedding) but the meat was undercooked and tasteless. On Saturday we ordered a snack basket; we had to ask the meat to be redone as it was undercooked and under-seasoned.

The hotel is centrally located and close to all amenities.

They need to improve their breakfast menu. If you are staying for long it’s gets boring as the menu does not change much. Also they need to do something about the flies which are all over the food.
