The breakfast would be excellent for most people however my wife and I follow a mainly meat diet so it was a little lacking. The dinner, we had a la carte a couple of days, was excellent. It did seem a little expensive but it wasn't really considering what we had. For us, the location was ideal, fairly isolated in the countryside.

The rooms were very dated in appearance. The worst aspect was the bedding. Our bed was two single mattresses on a double bed base which wasn't a problem. What disappointed us was there was a sheet over the mattresses (OK) and then two single duvets overlapping and then a cover over this. It was a lack of a second sheet and a proper duvet which disappointed. The rooms were not very soundproof and there was a lot of noise transmission, especially on the first night when a party of French were in attendance (we had asked for a room with easy access and this turned out to be near the bar area on the same level.

La Palma Romantica is a gem lost in La Palma jungle. It features spectacular views into the ocean, there are plenty of paths to walk around with a small lake, beautiful trees, lots of flowers. We were also quite impressed by the wooden interior decor. Although a bit dated, it creates a unique atmosphere. It is very quiet here and one can easily forget all the worries of the world. The breakfast and dinner were good and there is a good choice of options, especially for dinner. We stayed here on our first vacation with our infant (5 months) and he was well taken care of. Finally, a bit of peace after the hectic first months after birth :-).

One does need a car to get places as this hotel is outside of the city and buses do not come there. However, with the car one can get to a local supermarket in just a few minutes. The choice is somewhat limited, but was sufficient for our needs. Walking would be hard due to step slope, especially with a stroller. The balcony doors had a small hole above them, which allowed some wind into the room, but we just plugged this hole with some clothes and all was good. :-)

We love staying at this hotel with the family. They have large family rooms and everyone in the staff is so sweet and friendly. The indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi are excellent and there’s not much people.

This is a place to disconnect and relax, but it may be not the best place if you want to visit the island, as it’s a bit far.

There was nothing I didn't like.

The hotel is located in a lovely quiet rural spot just outside the town of Barlovento (10 min walk into town). It's in an ideal location for hiking/walking. The rooms are nice and big and have everything you need. If you find the food a little bland ask the host for some of his homemade chilli sauce. Super good. Also, the family and staff who run this hotel are very kind and welcoming. They even gave me a plate of incredible cheese on my birthday!

Friendly staff who couldn’t do more for their guests. Indoor swimming pool and sauna. Amazing sunrises. Half board on request. Tasty good value menu. Generous choice at breakfast. Impeccably clean.

The hotel is now looking in need of a little refurbishment.

This was my second visit. It's just beautiful, the food is great and the staff are so friendly too (+ there's a pool!). Stay here if you want to view the volcano eruption - it's well out of the way, but drivable. You can come even while the airport is shut, by getting a flight to Tenerife (South), hiring a car and getting the short Fred Olsen trimaran across. Then the island's all yours and the chance to see one of nature's most beautiful natural events, especially at night...!

The location and garden are beautiful! The staff was super attentive and very professional. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi!

The amenities are a bit old but everything is clean and the 5-star service totally makes up for it!

Very friendly welcome, nice relaxing lounge area with a gorgeous cat, large room and balcony with sea view (just), comfy beds, traditional old building with lots of character, nice gardens, easy walk into Barlovento for restaurants etc, good base for visiting Los Tiles.

Wanted to use the indoor pool and jacuzzi but in February they were much too cold for us!

Has the feel of locally owned and run hotel rather than a international corporate and all the better for it. Staff are friendly and chatty. Hotel decor is a bit of its time but the facilities are in good condition and clean. We enjoyed our stay.
