Main desk staff were excellent, room was not ready when we arrived so we were given a complimentary drink at the bar. Room was a superior double and very well appointed with stunning views across Jae’n The whole Parador was beautifully constructed as a castle and the appointments were all in keeping
Other than the main desk staff there appeared to be a lack of staff and attentiveness with the wait at the bar on both days we were there excruciating long even though there was only 4 guests there

We had diner at the restaurant in the hotel. We ordered a aperitif drink before our meal but we had to wait a very long time. We got an appetizer and after that they wanted to serve our starter which we asked to hold back because we wanted our aperitif before the dinner itself. We finally got our aperitif and then they came and tell us that our main course was ready and if we wanted to get the starter served together with our main meal which we refused. There was no explanation nor apology so it was a disappointment for a location with such high standards...

Our room 111 had a great view from a large balcony , the view was outstanding , the room was large but as we had an extra bed it made it smaller than it would have been as a double . The parador was stunning , the pool and surrounding area was beautiful . Every morning we had a visit from a family of goats and a red squirrel
We were told breakfast was €10 each but on arrival at breakfast we found it was double that at €20 each person as there were 3 of us it made it a very expensive breakfast . After the first morning we got a €9 euro taxi to the town and breakfasted for less than €10 for all 3 of us .

The location of this Parador is just fantastic with views over the surrounding countryside. We ate in the restaurant both nights of our stay and would recommend the food and the great service. Jaén is an interesting place and good to visit. It was too far for us to walk so we took taxis in and out of the town as we didn't want to drive. They are cheap and made the journey very easy. We loved our room with its balcony and fresh breezes. A lovely place to stay. A big thank you to all of the staff and the fabulous chefs
There was nothing to dislike!

Fantastic location in the hills with great views overlooking the city of Jaen. This place has class! The room was very clean and comfortable with a great view from the balcony. An extra plus for the classical music that was played over the sound system in the hotel and the restaurant. The historical Castle Santa Catalina lies just next door and is very interesting and worth a visit. The hotel has been renewed with great taste and the decoration is superb. Great breakfast!
The dinner restaurant was not quite living up to the standards of the hotel. We had sea bass fillet that was not very tasty and contained some big bones..

The building is majestic and beautiful with spectacular views. Room was spacious and had a terrace looking out over the countryside. Swimming pool was very much appreciated given heat as was air conditioning in bedroom. Parking was free in front of hotel. A car is a definite must as hotel is a steep climb at over a kilometer from town center. Bar area and dining room are both to be seen as massive rooms with splendid architectural features dating from the buildings finest era and all beautifully preserved. Staff were friendly and helpful when they could understand us. The buffet breakfast was lovely and copious with many local specialities. We had the omlettes on the à la carte menu which were delicious. The dinner on the terrace was a fabulous setting. The dishes were good and tasty.
Hotels of this category should have staff speaking more languages than Spainish fluently as foreign guests may only have a smattering of Spainish. Restaurant level of service is not 4 star and cocktail list on bar drinks menu was practically non-existant and staff did not wish to improvise.

You cannot get a more dramatic location for Jaen, overlooking the city and the hills. The Parador was absolutely stunning and the views from the pool area beautiful. The decor is so inspiring. The castle is actually separate but only a euro or so to visit with friendly informative staff. The staff of the Parador were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms spacious and huge balconies. We got interconnecting bedrooms as with our 2 children. Jaen is a great city with a museum that is free to visit the historical Arab Baths.
No bar at the pool area just a vending machine, and the actual bar only had one staff member so extremely slow service. But only a minor point.

The Parador is located at a hill overlooking the city of Jaén next to the castillo, one of the main sights of Jaén. The building itself is pretty old and has a very special atmosphere, you feel like living in a castle during your stay. The rooms are authentic, nice and clean, the view from the balcony is awesome. If you go there, include breakfast into your booking, it‘s very good, offers a lot of options (taste the churros!) and the atmosphere in the restaurant with the old arches and matching backgroubd music is absolutely dignified. The dishes in the cafeteria are also quite good and again, the atmosphere in the high medivial room is really nice. When we went to the city center, we took a 30 minutes walk down there and back by taxi for 11 Euro. What we also very enjoyed is the view from the mirador close to the hotel, nice at daytime and stunning at the evening when it gets dark…

This Parador is excellent in all respects and it was one of the most relaxing 3-days stay we have ever had. The location is superb; the building oozes class and history. The overall ambience was superb and the breakfast and evening meal were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful, and reception spent time to explain the route of a nearby walk I wanted to do. The walk down the hill through the forest was pleasant, and it was not too far to the Arab Baths and the Cathedral. Red squirrels can be seen in the Forest and Ibex roam the hill behind the hotel. A visit to the castle next door is well worth while, as is the walk to the cross a little further, where there is an excellent view of the cathedral below.

Very unique place, excellent allover: the hotel building, interiors, the castle, breakfast, our room (superior) and the beds.
I have no disappointments regarding the hotel, but what affected our stay negatively was the totally bizzare realization that in Jaen city almost all restaurants were closed for 3 days straight AFTER Easter week (not just the siesta hours but completely closed including evenings too). If Jaen wants to boost its economy and evolve as an important city (considering unesco status for the cathedral etc) they really need to start thinking about this in a new way!
