The superior room was excellent in every way. The breakfast was very good, though not as good as others I have had in similar hotels. The hotel, on the Plaza de Espagna, was in the ideal position for both eating out and nightlife as well as visitng th Roman sites.

The restaurant. though open in the evenings, ws not promoted, no menu was presnted outside, and there appeared to be no wine list. We ate there the first night, and the food was excellent, but hardly anyone seemed to use it for evening meals. It was as if the guests were being put off using it, Also the bar operated very strangely, with no drinks menu, no bottles on the shelves to look at, and seemingly very low stocks - they ran out of some items during our visit and did not replace them. The staff, on the other hand , were very hard-working and friendly.

Everything was perfect!!! Beautiful facilities. Kept in immaculate condition! Staff super accommodating and nice!!! From the ladies cleaning the rooms to the managers. Food in the restaurant was delicious!!! Nice and relaxing! We travel a lot around the world and stay in beautiful hotels, but Ilunion stole our heart! We will try to stay in all of the Hotels in the chain! The manager and receptionist (sorry I can't remember their names) on the day we arrived (Saturday), deserved special.mention. Just a perfect day! As the song says, sometimes you just have a perfect day. We were driving from the UK to Portugal and it was a nightmare to say the least. But our one night at this hotel made up for so much. Utterly fabulous staff who welcomed us and our beloved greyhound to their historic hotel. Great room - really great. Great bathroom. A little terrace. Such comfy beds. A wonderful open reception area where we had drinks - and our greyhound was doted on by everyone. It was such a fabulous place. Valet parking - all done for us. Just wonderful.

Look - I can't find anything to complain about.

we slept so well here. the king size bed is the most comfortable bed EVER! crisp cotton sheets, lovely bathtub and getting into the bed with clean skin on clean cotton feels like HEAVEN. I don't remember the last time I Slept for 7 hours without waking up. Breakfast was delightful, amazing coffee, fresh fruit and everything I could wish for, we could sit in the courtyard looking at the water feature and the atmosphere was lovely. pool on rooftop closed in winter, but a nice view of the plaza de españa. Helpful guy on reception. We are very satidfied. 5 stars - Highly recommend!

Would have been great to have a bigger gym, a jacuzzi and heated swimming pool would be lush. but everything else made up for that, besides walking around the town while sightseeing is sufficient exercise.

Beautiful hotel. Stunning facade. Lovely public areas. Great location. Excellent breakfast. Spacious room. Very dog friendly, but in case anyone is concerned by this, it's not overrun with dogs. There is a designated area where you can eat/ have a drink whilst your dog stays with you. Rooms are specifically assigned to dog owners. Great parking. You drop your car at the entrance and ask for it to be parked. Give 30 min notice, and it's returned to the front of the hotel when you want to leave. You pay for this service, of course, but it's worth it for peace of mind.

Excellent location on the main square and max 10-15 minutes walk to all the historic sites. Easy 10 min walk to/from rail station too. Plenty of restaurants and bars in the square outside and within a few minutes walk. I booked a junior suite which was spacious: living room area with sofa, chairs, coffee table, large desk, TV. Large separate bedroom also with TV. Only small shortcoming was the shower is over a narrow shiny enamel bath which was very slippery underfoot. Care required. Breakfast good, could be a little busy at times but no major problem. Staff friendly and helpful.

Location is great. Staff all super helpful. Common lounge area comfortable. Room nicely furnished. A/C good (and vital). Too hot in the afternoon to visit the Roman exhibits, but so worth doing early the next day.

Being next to the lift. In fairness, it didn’t affect sleep because there were two doors between bedroom and bathroom. Didn’t bother having a bath, just used the shower, because the noise from the lift was too loud. The hotel offers a valet parking service because there is no parking in the centre. And it says it takes 30 minutes upon request to deliver your car. It does, which is fine, so don’t know why people moan about it. They are doing their best and watched people going nuts about it taking time. Ours took 31 minutes and the ‘driver’ was helpful in making sure we had directions to get back on enroute.

The hotel was very comfortable with a large atrium that added to the feeling of space and was very welcoming. We were surprised by the size of our room which was more like a full suite than a junior suite. The decor was in keeping with the age of the building. The location was great right in the middle of Nerida with the square with many resturants right outside the door. All the attractions and sites were within walking distance with the Castle near the square with the Roman bridge across the river great for a walk after dinner. Lots of people had dogs with them in the hotel which was different but they were all well behaved.

Parking was a way from the hotel and was €17 per day or €24 per day valet.

A very special hotel, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable with friendly staff! Felt like a VIP when we were greeted by the hotel porter and parking service. Room tastefully decorated, including the en-suite. Rooftop pool with a great view over the rooftops to the mountains. Wish we’d booked for longer.

Initially we weren’t very happy about someone taking our car to be parked off site, but the hotel take full responsibility until its return! A great service and well worth the money!

What a surprise. A gem of a hotel with lovely, cheerful reception staff. We really made a mistake not booking a longer stay. Merida is worthy of more than one day but the hotel itself is so elegant and charming. We wanted to spend time lounging in its magnificent lobby. Fantastic location right on the main Plaza. The wonderful young woman happily allowed us to leave our bags after we checked out so that we could spend more time in Merida. She even helped us take our luggage out to our car.
