The location is superb; a stone’s throw from the Balcony de Europe, a stone’s throw from the Plaza Espana, right in the heart of the old town. Yet it was also very quiet. The roof terrace is beautiful and much bigger than it looks from the photos. There were plenty of sun beds, parasols, and table sets available all set on a lovely terrace with lots of plants. The pool was a perfect temperature, great for cooling off. The ‘superior’ room that we had was very tastefully decorated (clearly recently), with good quality furniture and fixings. And it was great to have a fridge. The breakfast room is also very tastefully decorated.

The reception staff were a bit hit and miss. Some were friendly and efficient, one or two not quite as efficient (however, they were never rude).

Where do I start- we loved our stay here and are so glad we chose it was our stay in Nerja! Hotel location is a couple of minutes from the main town square/ church where everything is (food, shops etc) and 5 mins to the nearest beach, yet the small side road the hotel entrance is on is very quiet. The reception area is modern and spacious with a nice seating area for waiting or relaxing. Dining room for breakfast is a fair size- it did get busy but there was always a table free and food was always topped up so we didn't have to wait for anything. For a free breakfast we thought there were plenty of options for a continental breakfast- different breads, spreads, meats, cheese, tomato, mixed fruits, cereals, juices, pastries, donuts, cake and more! Our room was a standard double and was pretty specious for our needs- good size bed and wardrobe space- plenty of room for all our things including after we'd been to the beach. Good air conditioning. Comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom was big and shower/bath were great. Rooms are much more modern than the photos on the website, but we would have been very happy with either! Everything was very clean wherever you went and you could tell they take good care of the hotel- all the staff were lovely and very helpful. The hotel has a really nice roof terrace with several areas to choose from to get sun throughout the day- loungers and tables/ chairs with plenty of parasols. Roof overlooks the church (bells are quite loud!) and other attractive roof tops- a view of the sea on one side, mountains on the other. There's a small pool but it's more to refresh rather than swim. The reception will provide you with towels to use a the pool. There are showers and a toilet up on the roof level so no need to go back to the room. I also think it really is unbeatable on price too- we couldn't believe how we got all the above for cost. We would definitely pick Hotel Puerta del Mar if we visit Nerja again!

Nothing really- we'd requested a quiet room which was more important to us but the room was quite dark. We had a more basic room type and we thought it was great, but you could easily pay a bit more for one of their upgraded rooms- some have a small balcony.

Room was spacious and extremely clean. Plenty of wardrobe space, nice towels and toiletries. The location was perfect. In the middle of the town and five minutes walk to the Balcon and all the shops and restaurants. The staff were really friendly and helpful providing us with a map and explanation about the caves, buses etc. They wrote to me before arrival when I asked about parking and we got to the car park easily. Parked up for free and didn’t need the car for 4 days… Breakfast was continental but plentiful and fresh and a huge choice.

Nothing . The only thing I didn’t like was leaving 😉

The hotel was very well placed to walk to places of interest in the historic part of town and to some very nice bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel staff were very polite and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. The pool area and roof terrace was very nicely laid out and good to visit with nice views from the roof. Breakfast is excellent with a very large choise of foods that should satisfy all tastes. You'll not leave the dining room hungry !!

We did report it but the tiolet had a bit of a flushing problem and was at least a double flush situation !! Given the loo situation its surprising to say to beware of the very powerful water pressure !! Enjoyed by some and of course tap adjustable but the hotel might want to think about wasting water if customers are taking full advantage of a shower massage ;-). There was a TV in the room with 5 local terrestial stations only. Given that the area caters for the tourist market it would be nice to have a little more linguistic variety which is fairly normal in this modern era.

The apartment is spacious very clean with all necessary facilities you may need during vacation. Seems freshly renovated and neutrally decorated.. Even the tv was equiped with Chromecast so you can play your own content with no fuss. Internet reliable enough for remote work. As is was almost October there were not so many neighbors, mainly Scandinavians who know how what is privacy. Nice and well maintained swimming pool.

Was kind of difficult to locate as it is apart of a bigger complex. Bit far away from the beach shops or restaurants.

I cannot really think of anything that would be missing in this hotel. Excellent location - 20 meters to the main walking street with restaurants. Still surprisingly quiet, there was only some occasional noise from the corridor. Even the church bell and the festival at the main square did not bother us. The pool area on the hotel roof was really nice bonus with nice view over the main square. Very friendly and helpful personnel. Yes, and I have never been in this clean hotel in Spain. Beds were also comfortable which is not always the case in Spanish hotels.

The hotel might want to improve the breakfast just a little bit. Special meals not very well taken into account so you might want to bring your own if you are allergic or something.

Great central location and everything within easy reach. Excellent hot shower and nice airy corridors with a great roof terrace. There is a large square behind the hotel which has an underground car park that is within easy walking distance.

The rubber seals on the windows would benefit from being a little thicker to help reduce the noise from the street below but this really is a minor issue. It would also be beneficial if a notice was installed on the roof terrace telling guests that if they wish to listen to their own media then they should use headphones. It would also help if they were told this when checking in because there's always that one person, isn't there?

Location: quiet, very central, tucked up a side street just moments away from a square and the Balcon. Free parking on the street a few minutes’ walk away was fairly easy to find. Room: modern, immaculately clean, comfy bed, good simple-to-operate aircon, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge. Facilities: pleasant foyer with seating, small but adequate pool on the roof with sea views past the church, three rooftop terraces with tables and chairs, umbrellas and loungers. Breakfast: good quality and lots of choice - fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurts (plain and flavoured), several cereals, hard boiled eggs, range of meats and cheeses, tomatoes, range of bread and pastries, hot drinks from machine (the coffee, both regular and decaff, was very good). Staff: very pleasant and helpful (I accidentally left my e-reader and they kept it on reception for collection).

Nothing, except one small thing: the power of the shower (good) was such that it caused the shower head to be pushed up in its fitting and spray everywhere!

The location of the hotel is fantastic. It is immaculately clean and the beds are comfortable. Having stayed in both the superior and standard rooms, I think it is worth paying extra for a superior room. Breakfast is good. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. We would especially like to thank Diana on reception who went to a lot of trouble to sort out a taxi for us when we were having difficulty in getting one for an early flight the next morning.

Staff were excellent from the moment we arrived and this made a great start to our Holiday. The breakfast was very good and we didn't miss the fact there was no hot food available. The room was very clean and the only slight downside was we had no view from room 216. However there was a great view from the terrace which we too advantage from.

Nothing really. The view didn't exist from our bedroom window but that is just simply because the Hotel is built in the Town centre. The terrace made up for this with good views all around.
