Good position, air conditioning, good, parking, user friendly safe. Breakfast buffet and lunch was good.

Lot of confusion in restaurant, evening meal one course (ravioli) returned twice for being undercooked. Chef appeared to argue that the fresh pasta was correctly presented inferring that we did not know how to cook pasta (we make our own pasta from fresh at least one a week). Restaurant bill arrived with incorrect item on it, which was re priced. Generally over priced meal. Fries at lunch time 5 euros, evening 14 euros ?? One bedroom the french doors did not shut. One bedroom the bathroom had a strong drain smell.

Wonderfully warm and smiling welcome at reception who offered 24 hour street paking pass for just 4 Euros. Our room (303) was enchanting, rich in character, spacious and very comfortable. Great bar and restaurant in this magnificant castle which hosted guided tours every Sunday morning! Sadly the weather wasn't really warm enough to dine in the magnificant courtyard but I cant wait to return to experience that on a warm summer's evening. One of the best Paradors I have stayed in.

Leaving this lovely building the next day!

Brilliant location. Easy parking. Sergio on reception was so welcoming and friendly and so perfect as a front of house staff. He was delightful and could not have been more charming. A free drink was offered straight away. The food in the restaurant was freshly cooked, beautifully presented and delicious. The room service was excellent and prompt. All staff were smiling and friendly and looked like they enjoyed their work. We will return.

Spacious room, pleasantly furnished with armchairs and table, good lighting and a large bright bathroom. The parador's proximity to the old part of town was much appreciated. The attractive central courtyard where the restaurant and bar spilled out, was delightful. This parador successfully combines a sense of history with contemporary hostelry.

Our room 115 was quite a long walk from the entrance so if elderly, request one nearer to the entrance.

The Parador is based in the heart of the town, with cheap parking outside. It's an amazing historic building, with a lovely pool and a beautiful central foyer for breakfast. You can walk around the ramparts. Zafra is lovely and this is the perfect spot to stay.

Very minor: The bar closed quite early (especially for Spain) and the room was quite compact, although fine for us.

Wow. It was truly fantastic. A castle in a beautiful town - what else can you possibly want. Our room was amazing, comfortable and huge.

Parking was a nightmare. We eventually parked some distance away in a backstreet. Not a great problem but at the rates the hotel were charging parking should have been sorted out. There was patently insufficient spaces for the volume of clients.

Great location. Loved Zafra. Everything was clean at the parador. Staff very friendly. Breakfast good - could be better but was good. Didn’t have dinner but lots of places nearby. Very resto my priced drinks and food at the poolside. Id return at the drop of a hat. A very relaxed and well run hotel.

Nothing!!!! other than the day we arrived there was a huge wedding so the foyer was out of bounds. The next day there was a child’s holy communion or something with about 20 guests - so again didn’t feel comfortable in the foyer. I guess a hotel has to make money but as a guest it does devalue the stay when you return to the hotel after dinner and have to walk through a wedding party - in shorts and vest (it was 38 degrees) - to get to the room. We were looked at as though we didn’t belong and had just invaded the party.

An amazing place to stay, a little off the usual tourist track, which we liked. The property is a 15th century converted castle, with multiple towers. Our bedroom was in one of these, with a vaulted ceiling, which was great fun. Guests were allowed to walk around the battlements for a better view of the surrounding area. Dinner and breakfast were served in the central courtyard. Dinner was from a fairly limited choice and breakfast was continental plus a hot menu choice. Both were delicious. We wandered in to Zafra before dinner for a coffee in the square and we were the only Brits there, so we finally felt we were in the 'real' Spain, having driven up from the Costa del Sol.

Can't think of anything.

The hotel courtyard is beautiful and a great place to relax and enjoy a drink or snack. The restaurant cuisine is superb and the staff wonderful. the castle itself is a delight to explore.

The bed is extraordinarily hard and uncomfortable. The rooms are exactly as I remember them 12 years ago and although spotless and clean could do will a little updating. At least a more comfortable mattress.

the room was a reasonable size (massive bathroom) with a nice little balcony, the location was good, the courtyard was beautiful, the pool looked nice (but we didn’t use it), parking was well organised, we got to climb up into the parapet of the castle

the tour of the parador was only in Spanish unfortunately- a bit odd given it’s a key tourist attraction for the town, there was no bottle water provided in the room, no extra touches
