The Hotel is clean, the staff is super friendly and the Junior Suites with their own Jacuzzi are something out of the ordinary and worthwhile booking this hotel. The general look and feel is great, but admittedly aged, or let's say the place could easily be ranked higher if one would put more thoughts into the details and do more maintenance. Then again, we also visited other hotels in the region and Amaranthe Bay does not at all stand behind other 5* hotels, except it does not have an own beach access, this is however possible through the neighbour hotel. Well, the possibility of a candle-light dinner on a float on the river certainly makes up for that. So if you are looking for a place a little bit off-side the usual touristic places this could well be your call since only 10min walk you hit one of the best spots on the beach -> Fernandos bar.

Just to put everything in perspective. The below is complaining on a high level, none of it will make you regret the stay at Amaranthe Bay, but we believe, the hotel has a great potential for more. The street, or should I say non-lighted narrow dirt road leading to the Hotel certainly does not meet the class of the hotel and takes away a lot on the initial arrival enthusiasm. The pool-bar is nicely surrounded by a sort of moat (canal) with Koi, but ...this and the Koi need way better care to make it the experience it is supposed to be. We stayed 6 nights and the breakfast was unfortunately the same every day. Freshly cooked a la carte, but the same all the time and unfortunately the fruit bar always felt like counted pieces per guest...

The hotel is very good. Room is clean and spacious. The view on the bay is gorgeous. It’s relatively close to the beach and the ocean in this area is very clean and warm. We spent here 4 nights with our 3 years old son and we all had a wonderful time. The staff is very attentive. I especially want to highlight the man at the pool area and the guys from the restaurant, especially Kirujan , who was very helpful with all our needs. The food was delicious and varied. Definitely recommend this hotel. From what we’ve seen that’s probably the best resort in the area.

We booked this resort to celebrate a birthday and anniversary and were lucky enough to be upgraded to the suite m, which has a jacuzzi. The room was spacious, well air conditioned, has a ceiling fan and a balcony. We were provided with gowns and lovely toiletries. The spacious bathroom was luxurious and the jacuzzi was a delightful addition to the comforts of the room. All staff at this hotel are very kind and welcoming, Priwin (the front desk manager) in particular very kindly gave us a room upgrade which improved the celebrations. Breakfast was included in the room rate, the Sri Lankan breakfast in particular was very traditional and delicious. The hotel is a short, 300m walk from a pristine beach (Uppuveli) which wasn’t crowded at all. The hotel offers free bicycles if you’d prefer a quick ride to the beach.

Nothing at all, it was the perfect stay!

Having searched online for quite some time we decided to stay in the Amaranthé Bay for four nights in June and are very glad we did! Upon arrival we were met with a lovely welcome drink and very helpful staff, every staff member we encountered throughout our trip were friendly, approachable and nice. Mayuran, Priwin and Abinaya were always very helpful and couldn't do more for us! We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the bay, it was spacious and very clean. It also had a lovely jacuzzi to relax in while taking in the views. The pool area itself is kept very clean and had plenty of chairs, both in and out of shade depending on your preference. The hotel is located close to everything but in a very peaceful setting. The walk to nearby restaurants and bars only took a few minutes and felt very safe. We went to the beach a few mornings and it took about 5 minutes to get there! We ate in the pool bar and everything we had tasted nice, including the cocktails! Breakfast too was full of variety, both Western and local options, and you definitely won't be leaving feeling hungry! Kirujan, Ladsagan and Thisalini were always smiling every morning! We really enjoyed our stay here and feel that it was excellent value overall, would 100% recommend!

Nothing, perfect stay!

During our Sri Lanka vacation, we stayed at the Amaranthe Bay Resort for the last two nights. The Junior Suite we booked was spacious and elegant, with the highlight being the Jacuzzi Bath – a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration. Adding to its charm, the balcony offered a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding nature, and we were fortunate to witness stunning sunsets over the nearby lake, creating unforgettable memories. Although the resort's large inviting pool was enjoyable, some sharp corners around the area caused minor inconveniences and led to an unfortunate toe injury. Nevertheless, our overall experience remained highly enjoyable. The hotel's convenient location allowed easy access to the ocean and beach, where we found several delightful restaurants for lunch or dinner. Inside the resort, we had the pleasure of dining at their lovely restaurant, offering reasonable prices and a varied, tasty breakfast. The staff was friendly and attentive, and while there was a minor disagreement about the exchange rate during payment, the managers handled the situation with professionalism, swiftly resolving any issues and leaving us with a positive impression of their commitment to guest satisfaction. Amaranthe Bay Resort's well-maintained and peaceful ambiance made our stay perfect. What an incredible stay at this remarkable hotel, which is a destination in itself. Stayed at executive suite. A beautifully appointed spacious room, spectacular views and facilities and excellent food. Besides that the hotel facilities were outstanding, every single staff member was extremely friendly and accommodating. This place made us feel home away from home. I cannot wait to return.

From arrival after a long train trip from Colombo I was warmly greeted and treated as a valued guest. The checkin staff were most gracious and efficient. They even assisted me find a suitable bus time rather than take the train to Kandy. My ground floor room with jacuzzi was temptingly close to the pool. The room was spacious and well equipped with multi channel cable tv, A/C and 2 comfortable single beds. I went to the pool and the bar staff served ice cold beers and I had devilled chicken as a bar snack. Wow just enough spice. Breakfast was included and the 3 types of menu made a wide selection easy. The 2 young trainee waitstaff (Thusara and Thisalini) were most attentive and competent. Nothing was too much trouble. I loved the fresh pineapple juice followed by the porridge and eggs, bacon and toast. Certainly a great start to the day. Then back to the pool. I was amazed how I felt relaxed and welcome. Perhaps I found a gem and should have stayed longer. Sitting by the river I saw what I thought was an ox with a load making its way in the river rather than a road. Why I asked? Answer it’s closer for the ox!!!

AMAZING! We had the most amazing stay here. We were celebrating our anniversary and my boyfriends birthday here. They suprised us with balloons and a birthday cake in the room, the next day with another ‘anniversary’ balloon and a fruit platter. The service was so good and the swimming pool was amazing. The people at the reception and breakfast were so kind!! We booked the junior suite room with a jacuzzi with the most beautiful view we had ever seen. We would reccomend this to everybody.

Nothing, everything was great!

It is a very great place to stay. We staid 5 nights in Junior Suites. Stay by the swimming pool is resting and beautiful. Then you can go to the beach (6 minutes walking). The restaurant is delicious. The 3 meals are adapted to europeans. All the staff is kind and helpful. My son was sick and they took care of calling a doctor ( good doctor) and always asking how they can be of any help. Special thanks to Karthik, Kirujan and Dilakshan and also to all the trainees
