Loved the views from the room overlooking the lake. It was dog friendly and they placed the bins close to the entrance of the section we stayed at. With bags (if you forgot) There is nothing worse than trying to find a bin after you picked up after your dog. The building and entrance way has a lot of character. Loved our stay (sadly only for 1 night) Breakfast had a nice selection of continental food and their own waffle station. There was also a really friendly gentleman at the night reception. We arrived just before midnight and he cheered us up after a long day of travelling. (Keep him)

Our third time in Gränna and our first time to sleep at Gyllene Uttern. The location is just fantastic. Easy to reach, easy and safe to park and with a stunning view on Lake Vättern and the Island of Visingsö (which we finally -third time's a charm- enjoyed by ferry: very worthwile!). We spent 3 nights in the Andrée annex to the castle building. It is named after the Arctic Explorer, Ing. S A Andrée. We dined in the main building (castle) and enjoyed the freshly made meals with local delicacies and local produce. The breakfast is just amazing and so complete. Too much choice :-) Our room (and the entire building) seemed to have just had a major refurbishment. Everything was brand new and luxurious. The size of the room was rather large and the bathroom was very well equipped. Even though the building is rather large in size, everything has a cozy, warm and very personal feeling. A great asset of this place is the staff. They were super welcoming and friendly throughout our stay and we had the feeling not any question or request would be one too many. It shows they take pride in making their guests feel at home and enjoy their stay in every way possible. We will definitely return for a 4th time in Gränna :-)

Amazing view, absolutely awesome location and castle experience! Note: if you want a castle experience, make sure you are booking the right room. It is not clear here on Booking. Our room was in a nearby house, we found it out at Check in. However due to super helpful and amazing staff we got upgraded to a castle room!

Super poor and not tasty breakfast, especially for a 4 star hotel. Beds are too soft, unfortunately.

Beautiful location, and easily reached by car. Charming room in the castle part, spacious room, comfortable bed, nice interior. And what a view to lake Vättern, beautiful sunset. Good dinner and breakfast.

Maybe new personnel or busy day reason for a mix up at our arrival; our room had been given away to someone else by mistake, but situation was solved and apologized by reception, so eventually turned out fine. Also new personnel or busy day at the restaurant causing delay and mistakes in the bill, however very good food and beautiful view from the restaurant.

An overnight stop on our holiday! We had 2 rooms booked for our family, both in the lodges but had amazing views of the lake! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, a fantastic buffet with a huge range of food on offer, and the setting was so lovely again eating breakfast overlooking the lake. Lots of parking, and easy access to the local town meant for a lovely stay.

We loved the old style of the main building and our room was comfortable. We had a great view of the lake and a really good hike route into town. The breakfast was very good and our dinner exceptional.

A small fridge in the room would have been helpful as we were traveling and had purchased food for sandwiches that we had to throw away. We loved our room, but the million dollar lake view was marred by a window that was hard to see out of and in need of a wipe down.

The location was spectacular and we all loved the cabin we stayed in. The double bed was very comfortable and the view from the cabin was so beautiful.

The check-out was pretty early, at 10.30. We also didn't take the hotel breakfast as it was ending already at 9.30. Those times were a little early for us as we were on holiday.

Room 123 with a fab balcony and great view of the lake as seen in the pictures attached. This should be the only room you request if you want these great views with peace and quiet. Staff on reception and bar were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble

Breakfast whilst ok was often busy and frantic. Some of the restaurant staff were not helpful and the evening menu whilst the food is great was limited.

This hotel is most probably being popular for it's astonishing view and for a good reason. From the hill where Uttern is located, lake Vattern looks beautiful! And that picturesque view follows you from the hotel room to the restaurant, cannot get enough of it! Good and diverse breakfast.

Considering Uttern historical purpose of being a highway hotel, it is not a surprise that it is very car dependent. If you decide to take a walk, you are almost forced to go there by car or take a steep trail down the hill which is not so groomed. Room was pretty much basic, no toothpaste, no slippers, cannot even boil some water and make tea in the evening. A lot of space to improve. For the price it seems that you are paying for the view only.

Via booking.com, we had a room in another (not so nice) building, wich wasn't what we expected. The hotelpersonell did their very best to change it to a room in the castle and we were pleased to hear that was possible! The view from te terrace and the rooms is extraordinary. The room was great. The food was excellent as well. You can see and do a lot of things nearby.

Staying in the sidebuildings is not what we wanted, make sure you know where your room is placed when you book it.
