The lovely staff accommodated our late arrival and greeted us with a refreshing welcome drink. In room Thai massages were world class. Don’t skip the delicious breakfast overlooking the river, it’s a perfect way to start the day. This is an historic building constructed in 1908 by a royal prince to use while attending events at the Grand Palace. It has boutique feel, with established gardens, pond, gazebo, walkways and pool. But mostly, location, location, location. Right on the river with amazing views, just up the road from the Grand Palace and Green Buddha, perfect for sightseeing on foot (or tuktuk)!

The street side of the property is not luxurious, and at first glance it felt not-great. But once inside the villa walls, the magic happens.

The location is ideal. In the middle of the key historic sites in Bangkok. A short walk or ferry to Wat Arun or Wat Phra or the Grand Palace. The breakfast sitting by the water looking at Wat Arun temple was an extraordinary way to start the day. Ohm, who was the person who we met and who looked after us during our stay, was wonderful. We are curious people and it was the first time here so we had many questions and he took the time to go above and beyond answering our questions. He explained local food, local traditions (we arrived during Thai new year in April). He also organized a private boat tour for us.

We ate dinner one evening at the hotel. The food was delicious however the price was a bit too expensive in our opinion for what we got. It was 2500 baht per person which converts to 70€. This is similar to a high quality meal in France and the products and the salaries cost significantly less in Thailand so the tourist tax is a bit too high on this one. A three course meal at the Four Seasons cost us less.

This was the second year we stayed at Chakrabongse Villas, and again it didn't disappoint. Although this year we booked (again) through a third party, the hosts knew who we were and welcomed us back when we arrived. We'd also been assigned the same room as last year, which we were very happy with. Chakrabongse Villas is a beautiful, calm oasis in the middle of the hubbub of Bangkok, but just a few steps to the main sights and ferries. A delicious breakfast is served in the morning on the terrace overlooking the Chaopraya River and Wat Arun. The pool is a perfect slice of heaven in the afternoon when the temperatures soar. Next time we return to Bangkok we will definitely stay here again (if they have availability that is: there are only a handful of rooms and you have to book early).

Where do I start? The location, right on the river overlooking Wat Arun. The privacy, there are apparently 6 villas on the grounds - but we barely saw anyone else, we had private breakfast on the deck in the morning, the pool all to ourselves in the afternoon, watched the sun go down over the river on our own. The staff were friendly & treat us like royalty. They have the biggest catfish I’ve ever seen! It was the most expensive place we stayed in our 3 week trip - it was worth every penny!

The shower head was a little cumbersome for me to use - but I’m really grasping to think of anything I didn’t like!

We had an amazing stay at these villas, and the staff went out of their way for us, especially to help celebrate my husband's birthday. It has a lovely view of Wat Arun with lots of private little spots to enjoy the view while sipping a cocktail or having a meal. There are only 6 rooms, so the vibe was very intimate. The pool was lovely and relaxing. There were so many nice little details in the decor to reflect Thai culture and history. The owner's story is very interesting, and we even picked up a book she wrote about her family's past and connection to the royal family. I'm so glad we chose this place over some of the other hotels in the area. I don't think we would have gotten the same experience.

Suite on the river is lovely. Spacious, huge terrace on the river, lovely to sit and watch the river at times vibrant and others dead silence. If you want to feel the pulse of the river, this is the place to stay. It’s an elegant property. Owner has great taste. Staff accommodating on everything. For those that want an authentic, classy experience, stay here.

Can’t really think of anything. All works well

This is an absolute jewel. The villas is an oasis of calm and tranquility right next to the main attractions in Bangkok. The view on the river is magnificent. And it's all so private you tend to forget that you are in the middle of the enormous city. The staff is extremely professional and friendly, and it was our pleasure conversing with them on various topics. They not only provided excellent service but also made us feel really good. The pool was such a massive bonus at the end of a hot day! I'll give the place and people who run it only the best marks!

Entrance to Chakrabong is WoW. One word 'Exclusive' . Super personal and Quick check in by Khun Ohm. He looked after us throughtout our stay. Even stayed to watch over us for our dinner overlooking Wat Arun. He is a credit to this lovely hotel. The food was amazing and service is exceptional. Its a lovely to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bangkok. Amazing Stay Thank you Khun Ohm. ❤️

We had a wonderful stay, a truly charming and calm place in busy Bangkok. Nice and clean room with a beautiful tropical garden, just by the river, and nearby Wat Pho, The Grand Palace, floral market, piers and MRT. Breakfast was delicious and such a pleasant experience while watching the river and its morning activities. The dinner there, is a must, too, it was exceeding our expectations, with the night view of Wat Arun. The service from before arrival until we left on the day was excellent. Staff are super friendly and helpful.

This is an exceptional property. A few rooms and villas were built on the riverside property of a minor Thai princess, who lives part of the year in a mansion on the property with her children. The pool was nice and the grounds were beautiful. The service was top-notch, thanks to the property manager Ohm - a true gem. Arranged everything we requested, including having a long-tail boat pick us up at the property's private pier to tour the canals. And the waterfront dining room has an extraordinary view across the river to the Wat Arun.

The room was rather small and not well lighted.
