I loved meeting Annie the owner. She made my stay so wonderful. He is super helpful and nothing is an inconvenience to her. The location is pretty good snd only a close walk to the shops and restaurants. My room and the hostel is super clean and tidy. There is a very relaxed atmosphere there.

I would only say that the facilities are basic. My personal bathroom was located on the next floor up. This is only a slight negative just like the facilities. It is a basic hostel but then it is super cheap so this is not a complaint. I would 100% not hesitate to stay here again.

Location! 🤩 very easy to get to/from. Direct train into the center. Annie was sooo helpful! It was our first time in BKK and arrived at 5am. Grabtaxi was easy to get from the airport and Annie gave me directions in Thai for the driver but it wasnt needed. There was constant ice in the freezer that was great for the long hot days exploring out. ATM and BTS station a stone throw’s away from the hostel. Hostel was really clean and quiet at night, excellent to rest after travelling/exploring all day. Annie was around all the time for our needs and always thinking about our comfort/safety which is so sweet ❤️

The AC in the top floor was a bit old and took a while to get cool.

Everything was so meticulously planned, down to the last detail - an amazingly well-ordered hostel, just a few steps away from the BTS station, down a quiet street, so no noise from traffic. The hostess, Annie, is a great, natural communicator, fully fluent in English, with plenty of practical advice on Bangkok! The room with bunk beds was a great size for 2 people (though I was just 1), with cupboard space, a clothes rail, good air conditioning, a fan and a desk and chairs. The kitchen area was spotless, as was the shower room and toilet facilities. There was so much space and I was able to store my luggage. I really liked the living room/lounge area - it was very comfortable, not too big/not too small and it was well-ventilated. I had a few questions before/after my stay and the communication was excellent - thank you very much, Annie!

The location is superb if you're just looking for a convenient place to stay near Bang Chak BTS to get to Asok within 20-30 minutes, for example, but there's little else of interest in the area. There's absolutely nothing to dislike about this hostel - I just wish I had found it before!

The hostel's location is unbeatable, just a few meters from the BTS Bang Chak station, providing easy access to all the major attractions in the city. This was a huge convenience, as it allowed me to explore Bangkok with ease and without wasting time on transportation. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional hospitality of Annie. She went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. She provided us with insider tips on local attractions, recommended hidden gems, and even helped us plan our itinerary. Her genuine care and warmth made us feel like we're staying with a friend, rather than in a hostel. The hostel itself is spotless and well-maintained. The private room was clean, comfortable, and had a private outdoor bathroom. The Wi-Fi was also fast and reliable. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in Bangkok.

Shower water pressure would have been better

Staying at Annie's place proved to be a delightful experience. The hostel's prime location, just 50 meters away from the BTS line, and its proximity to the vibrant Bang Chak food market added immense value to our stay. Annie's warm hospitality made us feel truly at home, and the place radiated a quiet and clean charm with a comforting atmosphere. A thoughtful touch was the comprehensive brochure in the room, offering insights into public transport in Bangkok, must-visit night markets, and information about further journeys from the city. Without a doubt, Annie stands out as the most helpful host we've encountered on our journey. Thanks to our stay at Chan Cha La 99, Bangkok became an unforgettable experience for us. Highly recommend this place; it's a decision you won't regret.

Nothing to dislike!

Extremely clean and comfortable, and a very good shower. We appreciated the additional furniture that was not common in other hostels, such as the bed side table and lamp and hangers for clothes. We also really liked the location as it was quieter than other areas of Bangkok and wasn’t touristy at all, and it was great being so close to a metro station. Most of all though, we were so grateful to the owner Annie for being so kind and helpful during our whole stay - a truly wonderful host!

The owner is so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. She has advice not just about Bangkok but for the rest of my trip in Thailand. I felt really at home and relaxed - not just like another guest.

The room on the first floor (Single room with private external bathroom) overlooks reception so it can be a little noisy when people are talking below, usually early in the morning. The private external bathroom for that room is one floor up - really not a problem for me but people who aren't great with stairs should know, I guess.

This is a great place to start your exploration of Bangkok because the sweet host has made a great folder full of detailed info on the best stuff to do -some of which you probably don’t know. It’s in a good practical place close to metro stop to get around.

We didn’t find the bed very comfy and there was just a small thin blanket that barely hung over both side so was not easy to share. Very different than the thicker large comforters most places have.

If you're booking through a 3rd party, chances are you may be allotted Don Mueang as the starting point which is not optimal. There are boarding points closer to this area. The host went out of her way to make sure we made our train to Chiang Mai on time. She even suggested alternatives the next time we're boarding a train from Bangkok. I'm also glad I read the guest's traveler guide (which is usually very generic). It was meticulously prepared and even though I had "the" itinerary planned for the time we had, the guide helped me "min-max" time and money even further. Also, Bang Chak Station is right there.

Annie is a great host and super helpful with useful travel information from her special folder. Responsive when needs arose. Only 5-6 rooms so it’s cozy like a home away from home, and shared kitchen is well-equipped but not busy. Location worked for me: Away from the main tourist crowd but just a few stops away on Sky Train so no traffic to deal with and only 2min walk to station. Also it’s a real neighbourhood so loads of street food where locals get their daily meals - super authentic.

Only accessible via stairs.
