1. Beautifully appointed and well maintained hotel. 2. The staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful always 3. The live band in the evenings was a treat 4. Proximity to the night market was big plus - only about a 15 min walk 5. Well equipped fitness centre 6. Many cheap laundry services and massage options nearby 7. Short drive to the old city ~25 mins

1. Spa reception was un-manned and reception at ground level was not able to explain what was included in the spa packages 2. Not many staff speak English so communication had to be a bit creative sometimes :) 3. The bath tub would get blocked frequently - staff were very prompt and helpful with sorting it out but it would have been better if the tub didn't get clogged so easily

We were upgraded to the Empress Premier Hotel, got a Suite, and were given a bag of food and fresh water at the beginning of our stay. So our review is on the Premier hotel. The second day fresh fruit was brought to our room. The room itself was big, spacious, clean, big bathroom with shower and bath, and every day the cleaning staff did a great job with giving us fresh towels and a clean room. Generally the staff was extremely kind and welcoming, helping us out with every thing we asked for. Also in regards to jewish tradition, the staff would accompany people to their room on Saturdays or Festivals with the electronic keys. The location is quite central, 15 minutes walk from the night market and has a seven eleven 5 min walk away. Taxis are available everywhere. The pool was kept well, and the fitness room had more than enough facilities. Breakfast had all you need for the morning, open from 6-10 mornings. Checkout at 12 was a cherry on top. A great experience, and will definitely come back!!

All was great!

It us a very nice facility with very friendly staff. You are always warmly welcome by the staff behind the reception desk. The rooms are large and offer a beautiful view of the city. The room had a large, comfortable chair. After running around all day, the chair was a life saver. Breakfast was around $8 and offered a huge buffet with something for everyone. The hotel is very conveniently located and gives easy access to the old town as well as to the are between the old town and the river. The street near the hotel has many restaurants, street food and the 7-Eleven, where you can buy snacks and water. You feel safe walking there any time of day or night. It takes around 20 minutes walk to the old town wall and it is fairly easy walk where you have to cross only one busy street. There is a travel agency in the lobby that will arrange quality trips at a good price. We arranged three trips with them and were very satisfied with each of them.

I feel that the door locking system was inadequate. The doors should be upgraded to keyless entry with cards. There needs to be a deadbolt that can be locked from the inside.

We were given a beautiful large studio overlooking the two pools with views to the mountains. Great buffet breakfast included in very reasonable price - including custom-made omelets made to order - stayed 8 nights and enjoyed our very quiet and comfortable room. Outside 100 yards away is our favorite Italian restaurant Antonio's, and the major street Chan Klan leading to the famous Night Bazaar. Post office and many other services located nearby in walking distance, and transport by taxi or private car or tuk-tuk easily arranged. Really great value!

Only complaint would be the bad quality of the house wine - both the red and the white were pretty terrible! But this is common in Thailand, where wine is highly-taxed, and rarely imbibed by Thais.

This hotel's room has a business like feel, room decor and the hotel lobby. The room and bathroom were clean. The bed was really comfortable. We were given a welcome goody bag with snacks and juices. Inside the room there were plate of fruits. I like such small tokens of care taken by the hotel.

I wish they had room service. On my first night in Chiang mai, i was very tired to go out for dinner, so called to room service desk at 10pm to order dinner but they said kitchens are closed. So survived the night with the snacks in welcome bag they had given me. On my second night i order food from grab for dinner.

The staff are super friendly! The rooms are quite big, and the king bed was super comfy! Also location was great, it's a 10min with taxi and 25 minutes of walk to the center and it has it own markets, that are filled with everything you want only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The room and the facilities are clean. This is a really good bargin overall... we would have returned if we were on a budget..

The hotel is kinda old. There are almost no power sockets in the room, and the ones that are near your bed are behind the bed shelf. Showers were old and small. The breakfast was quite lacking variety... I mean, it's chiang may.. bring us some fruit variety, at least... And yet, we think it is a good bargin

I didn't know there were two buildings. Empress and Empress premium. I stayed at Empress, the older building. The rooms are dated but it was comfortable for the price. I greatly appreciated the fresh fruit and box of goodies they delivered. I enjoyed the hot bath tub which is what I needed.

The breakfast was not good. It needs a complete overhaul. The cereal in the individual boxes were expired by a whole year and were stale. Nothing looked appetizing. This was the breakfast at the old building. Not sure how it is at the "premium" Empress.

The staff service and friendliness, thoughtfulness is outstanding. In every department. We had an upgrade of room, fruits in our room and a lovely gift pack to welcome us Breakfast was good. Room was a good size, very pleasant. Exceptional mention to Paul at Reception who considerately arranged so many conveniences for us. Thoroughly enjoyed Songkran here.

Nothing. The weather was broiling hot but that has nothing to do with the hotel.

We've stayed at the Empress Premier for about 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The hotel has great amenities like fitness center, huge swimming pool and bars. The staff was really friendly, kind and very helpful. There were fresh fruits every day in the room and we've gotten presents at the check-in. The breakfast buffet was good and the service great. The room service was great as well. Everything was clean and in good shape. We highly recommend the hotel. It is also good located for tours to the inner city.

Not really anything, just a suggestion: the breakfast buffet could contain more fresh stuff like juices, fruits and cheese and less industrial products (e.g. juice and milk in tetrapack) and more healthy alternatives to Kellogs or other sugar added cornflakes.
