We arrived at the royal oak, staff was straight away very polite, and there to help. They got us booked in -even upgraded our room to a king size suite for free , showed us to the room and let us settle in. Bed comfy to sit and lounge but felt slightly hard to sleep (nothing like ur own bed though) but definatly not a bad point. It was still comfy enough. The only down fall I would say as we retired to bed we popped the tv for a short while the distance of the tv to the bed and the size of the tv it was difficult to watch but we managed. But the room it self was amazing , clean and tidy extra pillows in the wardrobe, complimentary hot choc, coffee, kettle and hair dryer in the room , clean towels- great pressured showers. Moving on to the food WOW! 👌 The food is amazing we arrived on burger night -Thursday , burger( wide variety) and chips and pint/drink £13 , can't get better than that. The staffs service was brilliant so welcoming and polite couldnt do more for you. Our stay also included breakfast in the morning, I have to say was one of the nicest breakfast iv ate out for in a long time . Hats off to you royal oak, your stay was great, thank you , we will definatly recommend and come back . P.s plenty of outdoor seating and spacious carpark

Friendly staff, great location, lovely food both in the evening and at breakfast. Stayed in room 3 which was a very good size and clean with a great shower. Lots of extra tea, coffee etc in the room.

The reception on the TV was terrible and channels glitched constantly so we couldn't use it. We were aware that staying over a pub would mean some noise until 11.30 - midnight or so which we were ok with, however without a functioning TV we were left only listening to the pub noise which was frustrating and not particularly relaxing prior to sleeping. A small aerial booster would help I'm sure. Mattress could also do with replacing as we could feel springs in places.

The breakfast selection was excellent. Good food, cooked perfect and hot. Friendly service. Looked after us perfectly.

The automated light and fan in the toilet was good but the fan stayed on for too along at least 25 minutes or more so when up in the night it takes a while getting back to sleep with that noise from the fan. Someone (resident ) above room 3 going to bed at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning rather loud.

Good location with a lovely large beer garden. Rooms were clean and comfortable We had 3 ensuite rooms and 2 had couches in them. Good size rooms. We ate at the property and the food was fantastic, very generous portions. Breakfast was lovely too.

Some extremely loud locals using offensive language. Unfortunately the bar staff were quite young and not in a position to control this. The light switch/cord in the bathroom was very short. Meaning we had to stand on the bath to turn the light on.

Staff are exceptionally polite, warm friendly and very professional, the food is unbelievable value, portions are huge!! which my partner loved, and the atmosphere is always very welcoming, we will be back!

the bathroom light in the room we had has a sensor not a switch, so came on in the night waking my partner, the glass bathroom door in such a tiny room was also not ideal, although I understand this is perhaps because its a small bathroom, so for additional light.

The staff are amazing, made us feel welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The food was really good. We had both dinner and breakfast. The portions were great and really good quality ingredients. The atmosphere was really relaxing. We felt it was amazing value and will definitely return. Great little pub in a beautiful area.

Carpet needs updating in room but that really was the only thing.

Loved the welcome as soon as I walked in. Lovely cosy place. Taken up to my room with 2 single beds and a private bathroom. Everything looked clean and cosy. This pub was perfect for me literally 15 mins drive to Alton towers and 0.2 miles from the Stepping stones pub where I was meeting friends for food. I decided last minute not to have breakfast so can't comment on this, but did notice they had a good choice for cereal for you to have before they do your cooked breakfast. The auto bathroom light 😞 Sit in the bath to chill and you are descended into darkness, so have to keep moving to keep light on, but try go to the bathroom for a wee and you are blinded by the light as soon as you walk in which then doesn't go off for a good 5 mins. I get why they have them but most annoying when I don't need a light for the loo trips.

Towels, bedding and bathroom were very clean. All staff were helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent, large portions, proper home-made chips and fresh salad. Reasonably priced and wide choice. Large car park, early check in and good check out time.

Room was too hot at night. There was loud banging from a door below our room, needs soft closures? The carpets were very worn. Could be made much more relaxing and luxurious just with new flooring and more stylish decoration.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rate for a room and breakfast i felt was extremely fair and good value. The breakfasts had a good varity. There a shop within walking distance and an excellent aldi not far away. Closee to bus stop. Would absolutely stay again I also enjoyed the local art in the room

My only little niggle was the bathroom door had glass panels, so light would come through when my husband went during the night.

Best experience in a long time .. amazing staff .. food is fresh .. HOT and plentiful .. atmosphere is top lovely .. although busy you're made to feel as if you're the only ones there .. Will definately be returning .. thankyou Mark & auntie ( theeeee best chef ) x

Nothing if I HAD to be really picky just make sure adjoining door between bar and residents stairwell is kept clear for easy entry
