Good location with a lovely large beer garden. Rooms were clean and comfortable We had 3 ensuite rooms and 2 had couches in them. Good size rooms. We ate at the property and the food was fantastic, very generous portions. Breakfast was lovely too.

Some extremely loud locals using offensive language. Unfortunately the bar staff were quite young and not in a position to control this. The light switch/cord in the bathroom was very short. Meaning we had to stand on the bath to turn the light on.

Staff are exceptionally polite, warm friendly and very professional, the food is unbelievable value, portions are huge!! which my partner loved, and the atmosphere is always very welcoming, we will be back!

the bathroom light in the room we had has a sensor not a switch, so came on in the night waking my partner, the glass bathroom door in such a tiny room was also not ideal, although I understand this is perhaps because its a small bathroom, so for additional light.

Loved the welcome as soon as I walked in. Lovely cosy place. Taken up to my room with 2 single beds and a private bathroom. Everything looked clean and cosy. This pub was perfect for me literally 15 mins drive to Alton towers and 0.2 miles from the Stepping stones pub where I was meeting friends for food. I decided last minute not to have breakfast so can't comment on this, but did notice they had a good choice for cereal for you to have before they do your cooked breakfast. Thank you for a lovely stay

The auto bathroom light 😞 Sit in the bath to chill and you are descended into darkness, so have to keep moving to keep light on, but try go to the bathroom for a wee and you are blinded by the light as soon as you walk in which then doesn't go off for a good 5 mins. I get why they have them but most annoying when I don't need a light for the loo trips.

Towels, bedding and bathroom were very clean. All staff were helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent, large portions, proper home-made chips and fresh salad. Reasonably priced and wide choice. Large car park, early check in and good check out time.

Room was too hot at night. There was loud banging from a door below our room, needs soft closures? The carpets were very worn. Could be made much more relaxing and luxurious just with new flooring and more stylish decoration.

Thursday night Burger night: amazing value for money. The Full English breakfast was well cooked and very generous portions. Room had all we needed, well equipped, super clean and all in working order. The shower was spectacular, easy to regulate temperature and powerful enough. Staff super friendly, helpful and flexible with everything. Plenty of parking.

Nothing here that would stop me from coming back next time we go to Alton Towers, actually we would try to book here, and we would definitely recommend it. Small things: no hooks in bathroom to hang towels or clothes. The motion sensor on the bathroom light with a glass-door is annoying at night (we like total darkness) until it turns off itself. The mattress was not very comfortable for us, but that is a personal taste because we like them very hard and firm.

Nice friendly pub near to where we needed to be, nice warm bedrooms with clean facilities Hosts were also friendly and helpful before and during our stay The meal at lunchtime was lovely and our breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful The snow made it for us as we were doing the nearby polar express experience. Our family was a mixture of babies young children and an elderly mother Would definitely book again if I was visiting the area and will recommend to friends Excellent value for money too

There was nothing we didn’t like or to complain about

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rate for a room and breakfast i felt was extremely fair and good value. The breakfasts had a good varity. There a shop within walking distance and an excellent aldi not far away. Closee to bus stop. Would absolutely stay again I also enjoyed the local art in the room

My only little niggle was the bathroom door had glass panels, so light would come through when my husband went during the night.

The food was exceptional, both evening meal and breakfast. The lady that did the breakfast was lovely and the young lady in the bar on the evenings who is training to be a nurse was very pleasant, smiley and I think she will be a credit to her chosen profession ( retired nurse of 39 years). It was brilliant that Flint was allowed in the bar and the room was big enough to accommodate his crate. If anything we felt the decor was a little tired and could do with an update but it was clean and comfy and that’s the most important.

There was quite a bit of litter in the beer garden, couldn’t see any bins in the area, people do leave litter unfortunately but if there had been a bin or two they might think twice hopefully about dropping it on the ground.

The room was more spacious than expected for the money and very close to the venue that we were attending (Alton Towers) only a 15 minute drive. The bed was very comfortable and as little a thing as this seems, there was even a full sized kettle instead of a poxy travel kettle. the bathroom was modern and well furnished with lovely fittings and clearly has had good attention to detail while being kitted out. The only very minor grumble that i can think of was that the uht milks in the room had not been refilled which had we cared more about this could've easily been addressed i'm sure. The linen was clean and well presented and the room itself was clean, tidy and well presented. We also had dinner at the pub and if i had to say anything that wasn't glowing it would simply be that the portions are a little large but i'm sure that no one in there right mind would complain about value for money, there are small plates available on the menu.

there was nothing that i didn't like. there were two small things in the previous statement which i mentioned but these are not comlaints.

All the staff were very friendly, this is an older property but our king ensuite room was updated perfectly. ...and is excellent value. We were advised prior to stay to book our evening meal as they are busy on Fridays. They certainly were! This did not stop quality of food and service. Location is perfect to use as a base for exploring the area. Would definately book again based on the excellent value and the friendly staff.
