Pub located in the centre of Ashbourne. An old, historic pub with lots of atmosphere. Because of its age, the room was very "individual" but it had a comfortable bed and a good shower room. For the centre of a town, it was very quiet at night. The dinners served were superb. The best lamb shank I have ever had and lots of well cooked vegetables. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Parking was in the square in front of the pub and we had to pay £1 between 18.00 and 8.00am. So, had to be up at 8.00 am to feed the meter. It was a tiny niggle and not a big deal. We used the early start to get away to our next destination.

Lovely period building. I especially liked the sloping floors and creaking floorboards, adds to the experience of staying in an old pub. The landlady was very nice and the room was clean, warm and comfortable. It's in an excellent location right on the market Square in the centre of town. They also do a very good pint of Pedigree, so I'd definitely recommend a visit.

The only negative I'd say is breakfast isn't available, especially when they do food. It's understandable though, with there only being 5 rooms. There are lots of cafes close by so it's not a problem. We found a great breakfast across the street.

Great location, friendly staff, and a comfy bed. What more do you need? Was surprised just how comfortable the room was considering how affordable the stay was. Great place to base yourself to visit Ashbourne and surrounding area. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay.

You are staying above a pub so there will be noises associated with that.

Central location, food was very good. Nice pub with friendly staff

Pub closed a little early, however, there are a few other places to get a drink if required. Road outside is very busy through the town, and noisy. Not the pubs fault, but is a consideration. A grab rail in the shower would have been useful as I felt the base of the shower was a little slippy.

Was a lovely property and excellent food at the George and Dragon. Rooms (although a little dated) were cosy and clean with toiletries, clean and comfy bed and linen, fresh towels and tea/coffee/biscuits included. Excellent value for money and a great location in the heart of Ashbourne with easy access to many lovely quaint towns nearby.

There is paid parking right outside but only up to 2 hours a time so each day had to move the car but easily found spaces up the road.

Wonderful stay...staff were excellent & the rooms were comfortable & quiet. Ashbourne is just lovely & George & Dragon is so centrally located w/a great pub on ground floor. Steak & Ale pie can’t be beat! Tnx again!

Honestly, no complaints. Staff made coming & going very easy & accessibilty to this beautiful little town & great food & spirits downstairs was such a treat. They held onto our luggage on check-out day (tnx again!) so that made life easier.

lovely location, friendly staff lovely family run. comfy room with added touches like bottled water and biscuits, shampoo and shower gel. amazing location!

that I had to pay extra for my dog this wasn’t stated beforehand. the bathroom had a small bin but the room itself didn’t have a bin. the lamp didn’t work so we had to use the main lights at nighttime. we could hear the noise from the pub downstairs but it wasn’t awful I still slept really well.

the staff were great and flexible and let us check in early which we really appreciated as we were exhausted from a wedding and needed some rest before the day 2.

no parking on site ( not their fault ) but good to know for others that some of the parking meters in town didnt work overnight

Sadly there was no breakfast, which was why I scored it 8. But the staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful and friendly, and the Sunday dinner we had there was super, really enjoyed it.

Breakfast please! And door between ensuite and main room kept sticking open!
