Everything !! As soon as we pulled up we knew we’d found something special ! The lodge is stunning , the room was just lovely with great finishing touches ( tea/coffee making and fresh milk /water and little homemade cake ) .bathroom is spotless with everything you need . Plenty of space for clothes etc . The most amazing views from this property !! Looking over the Mourne mountains just tops off the experience. Breakfast consists of anything you could wish for, made fresh ,Patricia makes everything so lovely !! We was made so welcome by Patricia and John , they couldn’t do enough for us . We will definitely return on our next trip to Ireland.

Very high quality accommodation. Front Room was spacious and comfortable, with a very comfy king bed. Lovely rainfall shower with good quality toiletries. Milk and water were available from a mini fridge in the sun room. Peaceful location, which would be a great starting point for walkers, as several of the Mournes walking routes are signposted from just outside the property. Breakfast was excellent, with various options all freshly cooked, along with home-made bread and preserves. Hosts Pauline and John were very welcoming and hospitable. Patricia very kindly dropped me to the bus station on departure, as I did not travel by car. Had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Not a criticism but just to note that the property is about a 30 minute walk from the town centre, so it is really best suited to those travelling by car. The walk into town along a quiet country lane starting opposite Cherryhill Lodge was lovely, but the distance meant that it wasn't convenient to pop back and forth during the day on foot. However, taxis are easily available in the town - make sure you note down taxi firm numbers as you will need to call them.

Both Patricia and John were so friendly and helpful. The home cooked food was delicious with plenty of choice. The added bonus of homemade lemon drizzle cake every day was most welcome.Lovely bright clean room with an exceptional view. Super large en-suite shower together with a walk in wardrobe made for an excellent stay. Perfect location to start a hike up Slieve Donard. We were happy to do the 1/2 hour walk into town each evening but only a 5 minute drive if not so energetic with plenty of free parking available.

Nothing to dislike at all. If it was a hotel it would be 5 stars

We absolutely loved our stay here. John and Patricia were wonderful and their little dog Daisy was as cute as buttons. Lots of lovely nice touches that have all been thought out; from fresh baked treats in our room and breakfast, lots of anemeties in our bathroom and access to fresh milk for our tea and coffee which makes the stay feel like a home! Our room was cosy, light and the view was a treat to wake up to. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room had everything you could need. The breakfast was super; more than you could ask for and better than any hotel stay for sure. We will definitely be back to visit when we can!

That we didn't book another night

I don’t normally write reviews, but this property was exceptional. We had a room in the guest area of a modern large house. We had a deluxe king room which was spacious, light, very comfortable and good facilities. The bed was very comfortable. Our hosts were delightful and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent with home made breads. The property is beside the Mourne Mountains on the outskirts of Newcastle, but it’s an easy drive into Newcastle. We were mountain walking and were able to start or complete walks at the property. It’s very close to Tollymore Forest Park and an easy drive to Castlewellan Country Park. Will definitely consider a return visit.

We loved everything about the accommodation - the location is stunning, with gorgeous mountain views, the hosts were really friendly (we got some cake, scones and home made jams on arrival, all delicious, and Patricia gave us a tour of her splendid garden!), the apartment is very comfortable with a great bed, and all facilities you may need. We loved waking up in the morning to this amazing view; entire end wall of the apartment is glazed so it really feels like you’re in nature without even getting out (it is very quiet and all you hear is birdsong). Newcastle is in walking distance, and we drove out to Dundrum and Tollymore which are both great. We had a very relaxing stay, which was much needed and really couldn’t rate the stay high enough. Thank you!

John & Patricia were absolutely fabulous hosts - they couldn't do enough for you. I loved the breakfasts - freshly squeezed orange juice, home made breads and jams and the most delicious homemade granola with poached fruit and yoghurt - and that was all before the main course! The bed was super comfy and the toiletries were just gorgeous! I also loved the little treat of lemon drizzle cake and fresh milk every day so I could have my tea in the bedroom on waking.

Nothing!

Patricia and John, VIP treatment-polite, courteous and most professional. A guest feels most welcomed and appreciated. The breakfast was superb and presentation was like a Relais Chateaux. A Michelin 3 Star rating of the highest. Coffee, Fresh Orange Juice, and HOME made breads and jams. What A TREAT!!! In addition to a full Irish Breakfast. Patricia acted as a travel/tourist consultant making sure all the local native extraordinary places where on the radar and could be seen. CHERRYHILL LODGE IS EXCEPTIONAL BECAUSE PATRICIA AND JOHN CARE-MAKE GUESTS FEEL SPECIAL AND WELCOMED! Most Sincerely, Kevin Patrick Doyle-18SEP23

The hostess Patricia was lovely, went out of her way to make you feel welcome . She went above and beyond of what you would expect from a host .of course you can't forget wee daisy the dog such a cutie . There was scones and buns as a welcome treat. The loft was lovely had everything you needed and more. There was only one problem ... and that was we didn't stay longer. But we will hopefully book again in the future.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
