The room was absolutely stunning, plenty of space in both bedroom and bathroom and they were both sparkling clean. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the complimentary breakfast hamper was perfect. The lady who checked us in was lovely and extremely helpful, both with our early check in, explaining everything and went above and beyond trying to help sort a taxi for us to get to the wedding we were attending.

The only frustration we had was trying to sort a taxi to a wedding which was only a 5 minute drive away. While this absolutely was not the fault of the Woolpack Inn, it was frustrating that there wasn’t a local taxi service available, something to be aware of if you’re need to travel outside the immediate area.

The continental breakfast was already prepared and placed in our hotel room was just right for us and plenty of it. Thank you. Room great, plenty of character which one might expect in Coggeshall Essex and good prior notice of nights when a band would be playing. This is an Inn after ll! No question was too much to answer for Mel and her bar staff - very impressed! Food - two salads were fantastic in spite of the chef having to work like lightening having just been informed that 38 guests were about to arrive without any prior notice or pre-booking!

Wasn't aware that there was anything that we didn't like!

Breakfast ok, we were aware that a conventional breakfast was unavailable. Quite sufficient available. Coffee making machine a challenge at first, looked up directions on our smart phone.

The short staircase a challenge for Mary (elderly), could have done with a stair rail or rope. Noticed that the banisters at the top marked by many other hands.... Concerned that the shower tray did not fully contain the water, it was seeping readily onto the floor outside the tray. We put down a towel to catch the wet.

the room was large. it was clean and warm It was pleasantly different with low beams and a great view of the village and church

Saturday night was a shock. There was a disco in the bar below our room which made the bedroom floor vibrate and the noise was deafening. we noticed ear plugs were supplied and wondered why when we arrived. Ear plugs were not sufficient to make this period palatable. Fortunately we hadn’t returned to our room until 11:30 and the “music” stopped at 12:30am The hotel staff should have warned us that the disco would be so unbearable. The Sunday night was idyllic by comparison!!

My partner and I stayed here for a belated Valentine’s Day getaway. The location was ideal for what we needed and the staff were absolutely lovely. I did not expect the rooms to be so up to date and the bathrooms were exceptionally clean and modern. The breakfast hamper was also such a nice touch and for the morning. The only downside was the height of the ceilings, my partner is 6’4” and hit his head a few times and had to squat a little in the shower, but this is not a reflection of the staff or hotel itself. I would definitely visit here again in the future.

Stopped for one night to break our journey. Lovely room. Spacious and full of character, tastefully decorated and furnished well. Snow outside but cosy and warm inside :-) Welcoming staff and friendly locals in the bar. We didn't get to sample the food but were entertained by local musicians who meet there every other Monday. We had a fun evening all the way through to closing time, followed by a good night's sleep - perfect. The breakfast buffet in the room was just right for a lazy start the next day. Would definitely stay again!

Advance warning if dinner is not going to be available would help us plan our stay. It's not a big deal but better to know beforehand.

Really lovely pub in the heart of the village - we ate there on the first night and the food was delicious. The room was lovely and really clean. It had a nice breakfast set up with fresh orange and milk, tea and coffee as well as yoghurts and fruits etc in the fridge which was really nice. We accidentally left some bits in the room and they posted it all back to us a few days later which was really kind!

As we only eat healthy food options at home we prefer a warm, full English Breakfast when staying at hotels, but we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely breakfast basket and really enjoyed it. Lovely size room with large wooden beams and period features far more interesting than boring modern hotel rooms.

The room was a bit hot with the heating on. Was unable to turn the heating down. (Tried the settings but nothing changed) Fixed this easily by opening a window overnight. Quiet road so traffic noise not a problem.

The location was lovely and only a short walk from the main village.

There was no mirror need a plug socket which as a female is a necessity and there were no shelves in the bathroom on which to put things, had to put all toiletries on the floor. Difficult to hang towels on the radiator too as it was so close to the wall. The room needs a mirror by plug socket, shelf and towel rail in the bathroom.

beautiful old world pub with lots of books and crannies, clean, warm, welcoming. loved the breakfast hamper and fridge stocked with goodies. staff amazing, including cleaning lady who went out of her way to give us a little extra time to shower after we finished work the next morning

there was live ‘music’ one night, and it was directly beneath our bedroom. we couldn’t talk to each other it was so loud, although it finished at 10
