Staff were very friendly but the restaurant staff were inexperienced and frankly some of them didn't have a clue. Although they were lovely and falling over backwards to help, they really need some effective supervision and training, bless them!

Furniture in my room (Chelsea) was very tired - the tables could do with being french polished and then covered with glass, they were badly watermarked. Found that the information on the hotel facilities on the website and on the sheet of A4 paper left in my room were not accurate.

Good location, within easy walking distance of Mickleover which has good dining facilities. All members of staff were very helpful, polite and friendly (Theresa in particular went out of her way to make our grand children feel very special). Really good breakfast was served in a bright and airy dining room. Swimming pool, spa and fitness facilities were also to a good standard, suitable for individuals and families. Executive double room which was very spacious and comfortable.

Parts of the hotel are a little tired and in need of upgrade. Entrance door didn’t give a great first impression of the hotel and does needs regular cleaning to improve appearance.

Pleasant stay at this hotel, with easy access to Alton Towers. The swimming pool, steam and sauna facilities were nice. Staff were nice and friendly also.

Unclean I’m some places. Hair was found in the bath in our room and communal areas of the hotel; Which wasn’t ours. Breakfast Buffet had limited options. No vegetarian, halal or vegan options displayed. Our hotel room and areas of the hotel felt dated and unkempt. Hotel would benefit from an update. As saw peeling paint on walls and ripped furniture in the bar area.

The breakfast was good value and the pool facilities were lovely. The room was comfortable and spacious.

- The shower pipes were leaking - The hotel is starting to show its age in places, with the carpet easily coming up when we walked on it - The aircon was noisy - Last years price included breakfast so we were very surprised to find we had to pay an extra £80 a couple of days before our stay - two other couples we knew appeared to pay a lot less than us for their stay despite also booking on booking.com

Spacious bedroom, comfortable beds, full size bath, rapid hot water, good wifi, ample free parking, generally good breakfast, helpful, smiling staff everywhere, comfortable bar/lounge area in striking and pleasantly warm atrium. We had a good dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening and wished we had not arranged to go out to meet a group elsewhere the next. Good size pool with changing room sauna and jacuzzi.

Only details. Although we checked in online in advance we still had to wait while another couple were attended to, so checking in in advance was rather pointless. Some rolls at breakfast would be welcome and the fried eggs could have been refreshed earlier one morning.

Family room was fabulous, comfy beds and very good power shower. Its also a stunning hotel with an 80s vibe. It has a glass elevator, and a lovely pool. Polite and attentive staff. Rooms are a tiny bit tired but nice and clean. We do intend to return and hopefully the hiccups with the restaurant will be fixed, as otherwise it was a great stay.

The restaurant. The staff tried really hard but it was a bit too Faulty Towers. I guess as the room was so well priced you can over look it. Food was presented well but one received the main course when the 2nd guest was sent the wrong order and I was told mine was unavailable. The replacement for guest 2 was wrong, but they ate it anyway, and had almost finished by the time mine arrived. As there were no other guests and 4 staff, I m not sure how they managed to get it wrong. To anyone looking to eat here, I would just ask the waiters to check everything is available before orders are confirmed.

we were very pleasantly surprised...the hotel is beautiful inside...our room was executive king room...its was lovely and comfortable, warm and clean we were very comfy. We paid for the 2 course evening meal which was a little expensive I guess but you expect that in a hotel, food was lovely as was our breakfast the next morning...everything we needed and more was there. All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful without exception. we also had afternoon tea which was nice too. On our arrival we were greeted by Kimberley who was very informative and helpful throughout. Anyway we had a lovely stay and would definately use this hotel again. Thank you all :)

The pool was great jacuzzi good, the breakfast was better than expected after the poor evening meal, the decor was nice and it was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and nice to have a balcony

The changing rooms for the gym and pool not the cleanest no lockers with locks on and could do with a spinner to dry your shorts off with after a swim, food wasn't great in the evening bread with the hummus was over cooked and hard the batter on the fish was hard and fish was frozen.

the attention to detail was a little off cracks in the walls with chipped paint, there was a gap between our carpet and the wall that was about an inch wide full of dirt, switches that had no use but then lights with no switch,the pool had chipped tiles and was dirty around the edges. better shower heads needed, while the five shower heads were good the water pressure was poor unless you showered at midnight.

Large room and the 4 of us accommodated easily. Great to have a pool that wasn’t too busy.

The sauna wasn’t working and I spoke to a guest who told me the showers don’t always work. My sons went for an early breakfast and were turned away because they couldn’t find my name on the list. I had to go with them to sort it out and it was under my first name. I mentioned not wanting gluten at breakfast but no alternative was offered. This was the same person and I think he was young and inexperienced.
