This property has considerable character with quality furnishings from an earlier period and an owner who has had a rich musical career in a big band. The room and especially the bathroom are spacious, with an old world appeal. Breakfasts were well prepared, tasty and hot where appropriate. The staff will offer useful advice on local highlights worth visiting.
The destination is 3 or 4 miles outside of Fakenham and in a quite location, with few shops or eating places. However this has advantages such as low noise levels and, as we travelled further afield on most days, we were always able to find an interesting destination for an evening meal.

This excellent B&B is in a quiet little village. We received a very friendly welcome and shown to a large comfortable room. Next door is a typically village pub with friendly locals. The bed was comfortable and peaceful. The delicious breakfast in the morning is served in a well decorated room.

A nice big room, very clean and had all the facilities we needed, lovely tea and coffee choices and the mini fridge was really handy. Personally I found the chairs a bit too small and uncomfortable but the bed is huge and we both had a good night's sleep. The owners were caring enough to open all the windows for our arrival so the room was lovely and cool on a hot day, I also noted fans were available if desired. The fish and chip shop was very good quality and the village seemed very pleasant. Parking is down a little lane next to the fish and chip shop worth mentioning because we missed it to begin with. Breakfast was delicious fresh hot and extremely good quality. I'd definitely come back again after checking it wasn't a church bell ringing practice day!
THE CHURCH BELLS!! Hours of bell ringing on a hot day when you cannot close the windows, true it was off and on but not much of a break between sessions max 20mins but to us it felt constant and really loud, it also set off a lot of dog barking clearly they hated it as much as us. Completely out of the very nice owners control and a marmite thing but worth checking if your stay coincides with a mammoth practice session if you don't like this sort of thing like us before booking.

Nicely decorated and very clean, host was very friendly and helpful and explained the parking situation. I felt it was going to see an aunt or something so that was nice. Breakfast was fabulous...no one ever cooks the eggs the way we like them and she did a fantastic job, the whole thing was very tasty. The milk on check in was a touch nice. The tv was a tad small but did the trick.
There was no sign for the car park nor are the spaces specifically designated or at least not that we knew of. There was nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom. It would've been nice to have a leaflet explaining what was in the area; pubs, walks etc.

The breakfast was excellent. Able to specify a time required the night before and preorder meals to your liking. Presentation was lovely too. Dining room was a step back into the past and we loved it. Our bedroom was cozy and comfortable, good night's sleep.
Nothing disappointed really. Room was looking out over the street and we were woken early by the traffic but that was a minor issue for us.

excellent breakfast, cooked to order. Beautifully presented. Delicious. Couldn't fault anything about it. Well situated for what I needed and where I wanted to visit. Excellent hosts, nothing was too much trouble. very pleasant and sociable. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Shower took quite a while to warm up, but bathroom had clearly been refitted recently and was beautiful. Room fridge was not working but this wasn't a problem for me. Parking a little awkward as Melody House very close to a 90 degree corner! Other than that it was great all round.

Melody House is a gem of a B&B. I wasn't driving so the owners kindly gave me lots of help with bus routes and taxis before I arrived. The decor and ambiance are quirky yet homely with lots of old photos and we had a lovely chat about the local history - very interesting, (seeds available for the beautiful, local Ryburgh Poppy). I have to mention the breakfasts - impressively wide choice, cooked individually to perfection, and enjoyed accompanied by a nostalgic soundtrack.

Friendly and professional welcome from Chris. Lovely clean, warm room with comfy bed. Fresh milk provided for tea/coffee - kept cold in fridge in the room. Lovely cooked breakfast served on china crockery. You can choose your breakfast items and time the night before. Logged into B&B wifi network so internet access was good. Was good to be able to park behind the B&B but spaces are limited - can easily park in front of the building or next to the round tower church up the road. As a solo traveller it was good to find accommodation which was small and welcoming. Only 8 miles from Thurston Christmas Spectacular and the Steam Engine Collection (which I was visiting). Very near to the church which is visited by pilgrims on the walsingham way - I visited for an hour before I left the area. Lovely welcome from the churchwarden - and a beautiful interior in the church. Pub next door is open for evening meals.
Phone connection on mobile wasn't very good in the area.

Breakfast was excellent particularly the fruit salad. Ordered each day after seeing one the first morning. Cooked food was perfect and plenty of choice. Exceptionally clean with extensive collection of curious in the breakfast room. Tables well presented.
Although the bed was comfortable to sleep in it was very low and with only one chair in the room made watching TV awkward as bed too low to sit at comfortably.

Quirkiness overload. Like going back in time. Literally, so beautifully cared for. Beautiful details. A b&b from another era entirely. Comfiest bed. Super clean. Breakfast is clearly a big hit: I'm vegan so just had the fruit salad, but it was beautifully prepared. Owner was so thoughtful.
Next to the road - if country road noise bothers you I suggest you shut the window! ;)
