Nice place, but seemed to be busy with what I can only describe as African migrants. Was told no breakfast but as we checked out there seemed to be breakfast for them !
See above.

The staff where exceptionally friendly and really helpful, and always had a smile on their face. It was great being able to leave the keys safely at the front desk and have a great conversation with them before heading out into the city. The front desk is also available 24hrs everyday, which was incredibly helpful when coming back from enjoying the city in the early hours. The location is also very central, with everything accessible by no more than a 10 minute walk at most. The room had a incredibly comfortable bed and four large soft pillows, and the duvet was quite thin yet incredibly warm, and the room was kept quite warm itself at all hours via the heating - A portable heater was supplied in the room but we did not need to use it thanks to this. There was a few nightclubs just across the street however you couldn't hear a thing coming from them, and large blackout curtains where in the room that completley blocked out any light making sleeping so much easier. Vaping and smoking in the room was disallowed, however the smoking zone was close by so it wasn't a hassle and I managed to get into the routine of using it quite quickly. A kettle with mugs and tea was also supplied in the room, alongside a hair dryer which helped. The shower and bathroom facility was in the room itself, and while not large, it had more than enough space to use both comfortably even with my heavily pregnant partner staying with me, and multiple towels where provided. There was TV supplied in the room which was on the very small side, but it didin't really need to be any bigger, and had plenty of channels to provide light entertainment. There was plenty of space to store all our items in the room and plenty of space to manoeuvre inside the room itself, and there was a nice little closet to hang up jackets and store items in the room which we quite liked. Overall, the room was very cosy and the hotel itself was great to stay in.
The walls in the room themselves seemed to be paper thin, as you could hear absolutely everything from rooms above, below, and to the side. It was also unbearably loud during the morning cleaning at around 11am, with hoovers and cleaning staff having conversations that sounded about as loud as a Metallica concert, but thankfully it only lasted an hour or so.

Ideal location in city centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean.
The price paid for room was high when there was no breakfast included. It was a bit noisy at night with the nightclub across the road. However you would expect this being right in middle of the city centre. Hotel could do with a refurbishment as the decor is outdated. The windows in the rooms need to be upgraded to ones that can be opened easier as we were unable to open the window which made it difficult to sleep.

Very central room! Easy enough to find Possibly the comfiest bed I have ever slept on! The staff are 24hours and very helpful and accommodating - due to the 24hr staff you never have to worry about going out and losing your key as they hold onto it for you. The building itself is lovely! Overall an excellent base of operations for when exploring Glasgow's nightlife.
It can be quite loud.. if you are looking for a very quiet room the one I got certainly wasn't for you but the hotel has gone out of its way to try and minimise the sound disturbance. Fittings in the shower were a little dated - but that's not really an issue. The climb to the hotel room after a night out can be.. challenging due to the beautiful spiral staircase.

The hotel was clean and was in a great location. Very central so easy to walk around.
I didnt think much of the staff in reception to be honest. The key had to be handed in each time you went out. The front gate is supposed to locked at certain times and u need to buzz to get in. That wouldn't be a problem but the gate was unlocked. I had to buzz several times in the pouring rain just to get someone at locked reception to give me my keys which was just after 10pm. Its not ideal when you are desperate for the toilet or feel unsafe with no security.

Hotel is in a great location, a 5/10 minute walk directly south from Queen Street station. Upon arrival I was greeted by the most helpful receptionist that entertained conversation for a while, one of the friendliest people I've met! The room I stayed in was huge, the bed was extremely comfortable and the shower facilities were great. Very quiet room despite facing the street at ground level. As a female travelling for work on my own I can be nervous staying somewhere new, but the security of the gate (you have to buzz in after 9pm) and the reassurance of the receptionist made me feel welcome and safe throughout my stay. Overall a great place to stay, and the cheapest stay i could find in glasgow! can't wait to visit and book again!

The location is excellent, within walking distance of major train stations, restaurants, bars, entertainment, busses etc. As a solo female guest I wanted somewhere I could comfortably walk to of an evening, minimising the need for cab journeys and long walks alone. The Merchant City Inn was perfect for this, less than a minute's walk form Argyle Street (high street) and less than five minutes from Glasgow Central station. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I felt comfortable knowing they were there to help. The decor in the reception and public areas is not amazing, but the room itself was clean, comfortable cosy and warm despite the snow! Good shower, good TV, and most importantly...good WiFi! Thank you for a great stay, especially to the reception staff and night porter. I'll be sure to return.
At first viewing, I thought the room was a little smaller than expected, and the view was not great. However, this in no way impacted my stay. When I returned in the evenings, the room was warm and welcoming. There is a strange request that guests leave their keys (real keys, not cards) at reception before leaving the premises. I overheard some guests who were unhappy about this. But! It meant I was not worried about losing the key. It took all of 10 seconds to pick up or drop off the key. And when I got to my door, I wasn't rooting around in my big bag for it because it was in my hand! Reception is manned 24 hours, so never a problem.

The location is superb, close to Argyle St low level, and St Enoch underground. Very picturesque building. I love the wooden floors and the fact you can open a window for fresh air. Lovely staff.
I find the stairs a bit difficult because I have arthritis but I still go back because everything else is so good, and the staff will help with luggage without even being asked.

Loved that four of us could share a room with separate beds. Had a great night sleep. Great value for money. Brilliant central location.very helpful staff. I would totally recommend it.It exceeded my expectations.
Only wee downside was there was no lift with 63 steps to the quad rooms. Though our friend, who has health issues was offered the single room on the ground floor rather than attempt the stairs.

The Merchant City Inn is the perfect location for your budget traveller. It is 200 m from St George square where you find restaurants, the hop on hop off city bus, it is 750 m approx from Queen's Station. The reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful. you even get a discount voucher for the hop on hop off bus tour.
Although I am extremely adventurous and independent, I would have like an offer for help to carry my rather heavy suitcase up the stairs. We in South Africa have porters at all our hotels.
