I stay here quite regularly for work and I’m never disappointed. The new owners have invested and that investment is slowing making its way throughout the hotel. The ground floor facilities are superb. The rooms are well decorated and the beds comfortable.

The temperature in the top floor rooms, the last three stays, has been very hot and uncomfortable. The fans aren’t the best, and there’s not much air to circulate in a grade listed property. The room, the last time I stayed, smelt like the former guest which wasn’t great. But, I do love the hotel and I’ll continue to stay! But, buy some decent fans for the summer months and open that window well in advance of the next guest staying.

It is a lovely hotel with a great history. It isn't 5 stars, but neither is the price. The staff are helpful, polite, and efficient. The location is central, and so everything's within easy walking distance.

Very little to dislike. The full English breakfast is good and filling, coffee and fruit juice too. The only criticism is the time taken. There was only one waitress, and she was unable to cope with taking orders and serving tables. Most people waited 10-15 minutes to order food and drinks and around 20 minutes for the order to be served. You could see people were becoming impatient. The waitress was, however, excellent and unfazed with the situation. I would assume it was down to staffing issues.

The history of the building was fascinating but the team here make the hotel. From the ladies on check in and check out, to the young ladies on the bar on Friday evening and the young lad in the bar / restaurant on Sunday morning. All incredibly polite, friendly and just genuinely warm and welcoming people. The team are an asset to this hotel. Special mention to the housekeeping team who are never seen but the proof of their hard work was loud and clear to be seen. The hardest working department in any hotel, the unsung hero’s.

service in the restaurant was too leisurely for me, probably fine if you're with colleagues or friends but sitting on my own, spending an hour to have breakfast ( which required the cooking of 2 eggs ) was tedious, so I didn't eat there again would be nice to have a desk suitable for a laptop

This hotel is really cute! Historical building with original features. Nicely decorated rooms and very cosy but good sized rooms. Comfy bed with lots of pillows plus hot chocolate and biscuits left out in the rooms which is always a winner! Bathroom has towels, Shampoo, conditioner, moisturiser, soap and body wash so everything accommodated for. Iron and ironing board in rooms. Friendly staff on reception, right in the middle of town.

As with most older hotels getting to the room felt like a bit of an adventure but it made us laugh. Breakfast is quite expensive so we just didn't order any.

The hotel is well placed within Grantham center, but as you go through the glass doors to the courtyard you are transported to a cozy outdoor seating area, to enjoy coffee, food or drinks any time of day or night. The hotel has a rich history as a coaching inn, and this has been tastefully incorporated into the hotel. Staff are friendly and so helpful and the cleaning staff do an excellent job of resetting the rooms to the highest of standard. We have stayed at this hotel a few times now the staff are consitent, the hotel is lovely and will look forward to returning soon

There is nothing i dislike about this hotel

The room was fully equipped with all you need toiletries, towels, tea and coffee, ironing board and iron, hairdryer. Water and shower were fine.

We were on the 3rd floor and no lifts so quite a clime with luggage, It had been quite sunny which was on the roof and windows which made the room very warm even with widows open, There was a fan which helped and we manage to sleep just. On a hotter day I dont think it would have coped and probably unbearable,

The room was spacious, bed was comfortable and shower pressure was really good. Hot chocolate, tea and coffee available in the room. Breakfast was filling and of good quality products. Restaurant food was great and Lily was attentive to everything.

Although the room was fairly clean, it was not spotless as I was able to find plastic wrapper underneath bedside table and some hair in the bathtub. Room was probably not inspect before arrival as all this can be discover within 5 minutes of being in the room.

The central location was ideal for what we needed while moving towards Norfolk from York. The staff were super helpful and accomodating for us and once we located the parking all was good (is actually on Elmer Street Nth). An amazing building and an exceptional room. My wife was a little dissapointed in not viewing the said ghost, but hen she married me so ahould ve use to dissapointment. Loved the 4-Poster bed Throughly recommend staying here

Stayed in room 116 which was a nice family room. It was clean and comfortable with enough space. The dinner in the Bistro on 21/02/23 was very good and the waiter very attentive to our needs.

The shower water pressure was hard to control and resulted in a lot of water on the floor. The breakfast was not as nice as expected for the price paid - limp bacon, eggs bland, hash browns no flavour.
