Nice bar and friendly staff. Gave a small taster of the ale and cider before buying a pint. Good knowledge of the ale. Relaxed and friendly. Any questions answered. Food was really good, both dinner and breakfast, plenty on the plate, you will not starve. Waiting staff were as friendly as the bar staff. Excellent service.

I cannot think of anything i didn't like about the Tavern. Ticked all the boxes. Maybe one thing and nothing serious was that the bathroom light was on a motion sensor and it could do with being increased a bit as the light went out when in the shower lol, nothing major, just put hand out screen and triggered sensor again. I forgot to mention in morning to staff but i am 100% sure if i had it would be fixed that day. If i am ever looking for accommodation in the area again i will try here first.

Nice cosy old fashioned feel to the place. Friendliness of staff who were quick to resolve issues if required. Only a few problems below but which will not put us off coming again. The homemade food was excellent both at dinner and at breakfast by different chefs. I don't usually order macaroni cheese but I will do next time I am here. I wasn't hungry to start with but couldn't stop eating the pate and toast until it was all gone.

Staff member forgot to show us how to close the hidden skylight blinds so I was awake from 5.30am instead of 8.30am so don't forget to ask before you retire for the night. Intermittent cigarette smell in bedroom but unclear where this was coming from. Only on-road parking which may not be available close to the accommodation on a sunny day, school hols or where they have a function booked.

I would really like to give this hotel 10 as the staff were wonderful. I commented on this on this when checking out. Then, on discovering that I had left my KIndle in the restaurant it was forwarded to me with no extra charge. I can't praise them enough! The chef even came out of the kitchen after serving our breakfast to make sure that we didn't need anything else before having his own. The waiter couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent as well. My husband loved the haggis and black pudding!!

Unfortunately, 0ur room was a little tired with scuff merks on the wall and a peeling headboard. It was small, but comfortable enough. The main issue was the skylight which meant that we woke uo earlier than we would have liked. There may have been a way of closing a blind or something, but we weren't informed of it. I did get a peek into a couple of other rooms though and they looked lovely. So maybe it is a work in progress! I hope so, because the staff really make this hotel a pleasant place to stay.

John, the owner, and the rest of his staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs during our stay. We landed at The Golf Tavern after a long journey from the states, and it was the perfect place to get settled before our 3 week trip around Scotland. Close to Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh prices. Experience the local culture in the pub at night with a pool table and darts. John even let us use his PC for a few minutes to accomplish a work task. We asked him if it was hard to run an inn, and he said no, "you just look after people" in his charming Scottish accent. 11/10 would recommend :)

Everything was perfect.

Clean, comfortable room in pub in quiet location near centre of attractive town. Good wifi. Good evening meal in pub restaurant, and good breakfast included. 30 mins or so with the express bus to Edinburgh.

The main issue (which I knew before arriving) is the lack of any window in the room, just a skylight - though this was fine was one night. There was a strange tapping noise after I arrived, which I eventually realised was a starling tapping at the skylight - determined to get in, though I shooed him off! Otherwise, no complaints

Staff very friendly and chatty. Evening meal was superb and very tasty, as was the portion size .! Didn't have and space for a desert ! Very good traditional breakfast with plenty of options. Tick list had a huge range of choice. All rooms on the ground floor(only 5) which was very helpful. Nice and clean with all facilities you need. Would stay again. Very close to the the A1 and Edinburgh.

The Tavern is situated in a quiet corner of the town, but is only a minute on foot from the river and close to the town centre. Our room was very comfortable and light and of a decent size. The carpet was perhaps a little tired and the bathroom is basic but perfectly functional and clean. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant is a pleasant location. The staff were efficient and helpful. Car parking might be an issue from time-to-time, but we had no difficulty.

Nothing really.

Stayed at the Golf Tavern for one night on a golf outing with friends/family. The rooms were clean and fully functional. Nothing fancy, but worked perfectly for us. Breakfast was well done. The bar was great to have a drink while enjoying the beautiful weather and local neighborhood. Would stay again if in he area.

Bar noise was bit loud on a Friday night, but was not too bothersome.

Nice little B&B attached to the pub. Super friendly staff and a really nice breakfast. Everything on our stay was just what we expected. It's a lovely little town and the walk over the bridge along the Riverside and into town is really pleasant.

It wasn't a problem, but the rooms are small. Perfect for a short stay or an overnight, though.

The property looked untidy from the outside but the facilities inside were very good. The staff were really attentive and helpful and the evening meal and breakfast were both extremely good. I'll certainly stay there again.

With a letter missing from the sign outside the property looked a bit unloved, when I arrived. That impression was dispelled during my stay.
