Booked for Nephew and friend ti break up hiking and camping the Great Glen Way. Their feedback was that it was "excellent" and gave "10/10". Convemient location, they slept very well, they enjoyed the buffet breakfast and they found it easy to travel on from too. They thought everyone ws friendly and loved their room.
Some issues for me with Bookingcom site advertising of breakfast - however this is said to be fixed but just to note that breakfast is paid by card in person at the backpackers only. Some of comms with hostel were slow in getting complete response but they were friendly and helpful in response and nephew and pal found everything to be "excellent".

Location Comfort of room, i.e. two people in a four bunk room. NB Four adults would be too many for the size of the room Warm, controllable heat; clean; excellent shower Comfortable bunks USB/lights on bunks helpful although one bunk's usb didn't work We thought value for money although you are not a 'cheap' option by any means compared to SYHA with similar facilities Secure bike storage
Found four hooks on the back of the ensuite door, but some sort of hanger system or additional coat hooks are vital if room is used for two-four adults on outdoor activities Breakfast service lasted 90 minutes, which we almost missed - our fault but choice was very limited when we arrived and not good value in the end. Putting everything out too early disadvantaged us No TV channels? Strange with the plethora of services now available, even if terrestrial is problematic in the Highlands

As a hiker I didn´t need a lot, but the atmosphere and hospitality were really nice and very welcomed. Lot of space in the room, bathroom in the room, lot of shared places with library and very good dinner. I had possibility to ordere packed lunch for the next day hike, so perfect service. All the stuff I met were very nice and helpful I fully recommend and imagine to stay for more than 1 night. It is a nice quiet place in very good location with all you need for comfortable stay. Than you!

Super location. Reception staff were great and really friendly. Everything really clean. Booked a private room with ensuite. Bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever been in. bathroom was huge
Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. Not organised very well. Although we arrived quite early we were told that they ran out of eggs which I was looking forward to and tea and coffee from canisters absolutely freezing. Asked one of the staff to replace same and he came back with water that was just as cold. After wasting my time making 2 cups of freezing cold tea from the canister I ended up going into the self catering kitchen to make my own from the boiling water. Not a huge deal but just a little annoying as I would have had no problem getting it from there in the first place

The room is clean, quiet and has it’s own sink. There is a separate toilet across the hall and then a toilet and shower room. There are dinner , packed lunch and breakfast options (you pay extra) and secure bike storage on site (shed is locked). There is a warm cosy bar downstairs and a self catering kitchen and nice dining room. The person at reception was really nice. I slept really well as it was nice and quiet. I paid £57 for a single room and it’s been good value for money.
I would of liked a kettle in the room as I love hot drinks.

Immaculately clean and cozy room. Staff were so nice and helpful. Great facilities, loved having access to the couches in the lounge area and the bar was great too. Drying room was a godsend for drying out my stuff after a rainy walk into Fort Augustus. Dinner was tasty and they’ve got butteries at breakfast, what more could you want :)
No complaints! Hostel is slightly apart from high street area, but still close enough.

Very conveniently located I had understood that personal bedding should be brought, but sheet duvet with cover along with pillow were supplied which is welcome; even if we were requested to strip the bed on leaving.
There are a lot of rules I understand this may be something to do with the ‘hostel’ nature of the establishment. Possibly necessary because a lot of people don’t know how to behave.

The location was perfect, easy walk down to the Loch and the rest of the amenities in the village. There was such a lovely, relaxed atmosphere around the place. So very easy going. Folks wandering around in their socks in the evening and at breakfast just gave it a lovely, homely feel. The room was very spacious - for a family of 4 with all our luggage, we had plenty of space.
Can't fault the place. Some dodgy handwritten cards in the Uno deck in the bar, but can't blame the staff for that!!

Nice little hostel in a great location. Cosy comfy rooms and very clean.
Only complaint I have is that there's one staff member manning the place. We ordered dinner I asked for a burger and chips. When the food arrived I couldn't believe what was on the plate. Obviously the staff member forgot about me as she was busy elsehwere and the food was left in the oven. There wasn't one single chip on the plate that wasn't absolute charcoal. And the burger was pretty much the same. Couldn't believe she served me that food with a straight face hahaha. Still ate it though but didn't order anymore food there for the duration of the stay. Other than that it's good value for money and Fort Augustus is spectacular.

I stayed here for one night while travelling to Skye. Great location - just a short walk into the centre of Fort Augustus - with plenty of free parking. Good facilities with meals/ breakfast available and a bar in the property which gave a good opportunity to meet fellow travellers. I stayed in a four bed dormitory which had its own bathroom/ shower - would have been ideal if travelling in a small group. Great value for money and everything was spotlessly clean! Would definitely recommend.
