What a beautiful hotel...set in woodland I can imagine in makes a wonderful wedding venue which seems to be its main focus. The bedroom was beautiful with a great view of the gardens. Bed was supremely comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. Food in the bar was excellent.......just a pity that I had such an early start, based on my dinner I imagine the breakfast would have been fantastic......

As a business traveller the one big downside I found although not the hotels fault was that there is absolutely no mobile signal at all, certainly on the Vodafone network. The free wi-fi also struggled to be honest, whilst the strength was good in the bar area, in my room it was only 1 bar of wi-fi strength so unable to log on and finish off some work stuff......This was however the only negative I could find....

The reception was excellent, the room comfortable and the evening meal in the restaurant was very good indeed. Bar staff were under pressure, ordered a Gin & Tonic then told no lemon or lime which was ridiculous in a 4* hotel. Clearly they did have lemon but inexperienced bar staff didn’t be bothered to go to kitchen to ask, bar manager should ensure bar is appropriately stocked in future. Some drinks were unavailable such as pudding wine which was disappointing. Breakfast, although choice limited, was good and waitress very friendly and accommodating. Overall, a great stay and we plan to return.

In experienced bar staff who weren’t prepared to go the extra mile to the kitchen for a lemon for a g&t !

Beautiful and peaceful from the moment you enter the private driveway. Plenty of parking including charging points. Check in was quick, easy and friendly. Lift to all floors which was welcome. our room was Hydrangea and WOW this room did not dissapoint in any direction you looked. The little welcome treat was very welcome to help celebrate my Husbands 50th birthday celebrations. staff were friendly, and helpful. Bar, this was lovely and cosy. Good selection of beers, wines and Gins etc... didn't think it was expensive considering today's prices and the venue. Dining was lovely, relaxing, delicious food whether it was breakfast or dinner. We also had afternoon teA which was delicious 😋 Never felt rushed in the 2 nights we stayed in anything. so was nice to chill. Walk around the grounds to look at the lake. Thank you for your help organising our stay.

My only gripe would be the bed was a little too high for me being a short person. so getting in was like a mountain climb each time...

I booked this stay at the last minute, on the morning of my arrival, and was pleasantly surprised by the room I received. It was incredibly spacious, almost like a suite, complete with a dining table for four. The room was not only large and comfortable but also offered everything I needed for the night and more, all at a very reasonable price.

The room was pleasant, though the bathroom could use some updating. After a long workday, I was looking forward to unwinding, but the bar area was quite small and filled with people dressed up. This made me feel out of place in my comfortable jogging bottoms and t-shirt.

Lovely location and room.

Staff showed two different sides. Excellent barman who arranged our food for the evening and was very pleasant. But taken aback by the abrupt nature of one of the breakfast staff. That surprised us, perhaps she was having a bad day. Also not the best breakfast in the world. It said rindless bacon, which I'd tend to differ. There was plenty of fat on the ones we received. Also the eggs were overcooked. We did leave feedback when we left but haven't heard anything. Wi-Fi was a bit iffy, but putting this down to the age of the building.

I stayed with my 2 children, 14 & 5 year old. Room (Orchid Room) was more than big enough for the 3 of us. My 5 year old had a pot up bed. Only 35mins away from Chester Zoo, decided to stay here as currently looking at wedding venues close to grandparents who live near Hawkstone Park Golf Club. The gardens were gorgeous, had a little peak though the windows on the Boutique Marquee which looked amazing! Breakfast was lovely too. Would definitely stay here again, and potentially Wed here too!

The room could have done with having a full length mirror especially if wedding guests were to stay over. The signal on the TV was poor, we couldn't watch much on ITV player without it freezing regularly.

The location is fantastic, I spent a lovely late afternoon with my camera taking photos of the wildlife. I had a suite and it was lovely. The room had everything that you needed for a comfortable stay, the bed was really comfy. The bath was perfect, so was the shower. All of the staff that I met were friendly, polite and helpful, particularly the young lady at check in.

My only little niggle was that my room was above the bar and the seating area was directly under the window. It was a very warm evening, clearly not the hotel’s fault, but I had to close all of the windows due to the smokers puffing and chatting below. They were gone by 11 but I had gone to bed early so it did affect me to begin with.

Beautiful old building with comfortable library and sitting rooms. It still felt like a stately family home with paintings, old furniture......The staff were most friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was spacious, comfortable and nicely furnished. Everywhere was very warm. We ate at the Captain's Bar enjoying the open fire and found the food very good. An excellent location with a lovely walk through the woods and by the lake. The room rate with breakfast was extremely reasonable. We would definitely return.

Nothing!

Location is excellent, right beside a big lake that wraps around the hotel which itself has lovely grounds. My room was huge and very comfortable, great views of the grounds and lake from the room. Staff all very nice, recommended.

Breakfast was decent, but quite restrictive in terms of both hot food and continental. Same goes with the dinner service, would have preferred a wider choice but the food I did have was very good. This isn't a complaint against this hotel as it happens at virtually every hotel, but take ear plugs because you can hear doors slamming and house keeping early in the morning.
