The room was lovely and clean. Staff were very helpful and location was ideal to catch an early ferry. The view from window was great but it was a noisy road, which, if you're not used to, could cause some sleep disturbances, so bring your ear plugs! On the whole, room exceeded expectations and was a very pleasant surprise when we booked last minute, due to flight to Scillies being cancelled.

Road noise, car alarms going off a lot and lads in cars with loud music. Didn't get the whole b&b experience as had to leave early for ferry so missed breakfast. This made the room quite pricey so would have liked option to just pay for room only.

Having stayed at the Dolphin before, I knew what to expect, which is why I returned. I love the quirky feel of the rooms - the sash windows which actually open, and the sloping floors. Great views of Mounts Bay or the harbour as well. The rooms are clean, well furnished, comfortable beds, and brilliant modern bathrooms. The general ambience is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and evening meals are tasty and reasonably priced. Gorgeous brown toast, made with bread from Morrisons apparently! Good choice of wines, also very important! Oh, not forgetting the lovely staff...

Maybe the bedding? I like 100% cotton. However, I'm being really picky here!

We booked this accommodation as it was close to the ferry port and had really good reviews. Our ferry was cancelled and not due to sail until the Friday. The manager was really helpful when I contacted to try and change our booking date, unfortunately they were full but we decided to travel down on the Tuesday. The staff were so friendly & helpful, they couldn't do enough for you. Would definitely stay again if visiting Penzanze. The food was really nice too both evening meal & breakfast 😊 Perfect location for the Ferry Port and the Town Centre. Only a 10 minute walk to the Train Station & Bus Station. The room had a set of Binoculars in the window cill which we thought was a lovely idea for guests looking out into the harbour.

Nothing not to like

Great location within easy walking distance to both train and bus stations. A very old tavern full of atmosphere, wood and brass and nautically themed. Room was clean and bright with a sea view. Tea, coffee, biscuits and fresh milk provided. Excellent breakfasts, dinners and menu choices. So good we had dinner there every night! . Staff and owner couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We were sorry to leave but will definitely be back!

It was all good.

Well cited for the harbour, promenade, swimming in either the sea or Jubilee pool, both train and bus stations, Morrab gardens, Penlee gallery, the town. Our room overlooked the harbour and was very clean and comfortable. There is a good choice of cooked breakfasts. We ate there each evening and the food was excellent with a wide choice of dishes, the fish was exceptionally good and all reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Nothing.

The history of this old inn is fascinating and the old photos of it around the bar and dining rooms were very interesting. My wife wished there were postcards of it. Staff bent over backwards to accommodate preferences for our breakfast every morning. Everyone was cheerful and extremely pleasant, treating us like old friends. In the early evening they kindly let my wife monopolize a table to write postcards and journal while I worked in the room (and let her craft her own hot chocolate cocktail). We also really enjoyed how welcoming the Inn was to dogs. Servers provided water dishes for pups while patrons dined. It was always entertaining.

A very minor suggestion; it would be useful to have a hook right next to the shower so towel is reachable before stepping out. (The heated towel bar was pretty great, though!)

The room was a decent size with a comfortable bed, a good en-suite, and a partial sea view, which was expected as we booked late, they only have 3 rooms and get booked up quickly. The bar and eating areas are spacious, with a nautical theme. There was a good selection of beers, the bar seemed to have a regular crowd as well as the guests. The food was very good, the full English breakfast superb, the was coffee too, and there were bottles of ketchup! The stairs that some have mentioned weren't a problem and I'm 63. Parking was easy enough in the side streets, we parked 50 yards away from the front door. The couple running the pub were very personable, and made our stay very enjoyable

Nothing to dislike, maybe the shift manager was a bit formal for me, I prefer first names to Sir.

Room was very well appointed and had been refurbished tastefully. The bathroom was large with a huge walk-in shower. Evening meal was very good and real ale was excellent quality. Breakfast was varied and included fresh fish. Staff pleasant and overall a very nice overnight stay.

No parking space allocated and due to the area, most streets nearby were restricted to three hours or were double yellow lines. It’s pure chance that you find a space on the streets if someone pulls out.

The atmosphere, the environment, the service, the food and the people who cared for you. The convenience to catching the day boat to the Isles of Scilly and the carrying of a heavy case down steps and on to the Quay.

The steep hill to get a newspaper before We left.
