Friendly welcome. Very clean in the public areas and the bedroom. Very comfy bed and good sized room and bathroom. Good quality coffee machine in the room with a range of coffee pods. Simple check-in and check-out. Biker friendly. I was able to park behind the hotel on hard-standing which was safer for my bike. The free self-service breakfast provided a great variety of choice of items as well as tea, coffee, fruit juice and water which gave us a very good start to the day.

The road traffic was quite noisy at times but it didn't stop us sleeping very well in the comfy bed!

The room was very spacious and very comfortable. You don’t deal with anyone, you get a text with your code to enter property and room. We have not seen anyone apart when we went to the quiet pub and ordered some food. You can get coffee and tea in the room and as well in the breakfast area. They let us get some milk in the evening for my toddler which was very convenient.

The breakfast was included in the price which was great but there was no fresh food apart from milk and fruits like apple and bananas. It was a continental breakfast.

The Trooper was clean, comfortable and a delight to stay at. I didn't sample the food as I slept through the serving times in the evening, however I was assured, by another guest, that it was reasonably priced and very tasty. Breakfast which is complimentary was varied and wholesome, however no cooked breakfasts.

Everything was good,,, however the room had a bath as opposed to a shower, not a big drawback though. I had difficulty using the coffee maker in the room, however Chris said he'd put instructions in the room in future.

Beautiful location. Lovely room with large bathroom. Staff were very friendly. Complimentary breakfast was brilliant. There was a breakfast room just to the side of reception. Was only expecting toast, as it was complimentary, but there was a selection of cereal, bread, jam, marmalade, honey and marmite. Chocolate filled croissants, waffles, flapjacks, yogurts and selection of fresh fruit. 😁

This is a gem of a place, fantastic rooms, beautiful period property, stunning views of countryside, staff are amazing, so helpful, polite and professional but friendly and accommodating. Food in the restaurant is fabulous, you could tell products were excellently sourced, local fresh ingredients, our meals were delicious (I'm a very fussy eater and I ate it all), had been cooked from scratch, top quality home made food was so welcoming when you go to so many places now where it's all processed/ready made microwave meals. We're not often in Petersfield as we live in London but we would definitely return here at the earliest opportunity, highly recommended!

Nothing - the only thing we would say, although it didn't affect us and so definitely not a criticism from our point of view but may be better to have use of a car when staying here

Exceeded our expectations. More hotel than pub. Large comfortable clean room with giant bed and bath. Plenty of coffee/tea in the room. Good parking. Inclusive basic serve yourself continental breakfast. Nice country walks from doorstep. 30mins to Chichester. Self check in, in fact we never saw a single member of staff during our 2 night stay, but there was clear details how to contact one if needed. Suited us! Bar/restaurant not open Sun or Mon.

Very warm and friendly welcome with a nothing is too much trouble attitude - could not have been better. The room was modern and well maintained and clean and a decent size. The beds and linen were good quality and comfy. It was quiet and peaceful. The room was well heated and also had good opening windows to allow a cooler temperature to suit us. The restaurant food was excellent value for money with a selection of decent pub grub at very reasonable prices. As a whole experience it was well above expectations and we would definitely recommend and return.

Food excellent. With a great choice of menu and very well prepared. Place was clean and bed comfortable.

For two people in their early 80s, the topmost room up two flights of stairs wasn't good. There was no shower, only a bath, so a quick freshen up, or hair wash was out of the question. A flimsy coffee machine was provided, instead of a kettle - WHY?? - so as it only dribbled, it was nigh on impossible to make a cuppa.

very friendly and helpful staff. Good size room and plenty on the tea tray for guests use. Good location for us to tour the area on our motorcycle.

Breakfast let it down. Totally self service and not much choice. no one came to make sure everything was okay and guests were happy- muesli ran out which was the popular cereal on offer other choices were cornflakes, coco pops and rice crispies not usual most peoples breakfast favourite. Our room was quite noisy as it looked over the busy country road it did have lovely thick curtains to help deaden the traffic noise.

Great location for our visit to the area. Nice and quiet being out of town. Clean and comfortable. Pub food was good and reasonably priced. Complimentary breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Plenty of parking. Staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. Particularly took to Chris the landlord.

Would have liked better coffee at breakfast. Only instant available.
