We took advantage of a great rate for an overnight stay. On arrival the receptionist Debbie welcomed us in a very friendly manner and made us feel very valued. Due to the time of year the hotel was only operating a few nights a week which meant we didn’t get to experience the bar facilities and bistro. However the staff more than made up for that to the extent Debbie had already allocated us interconnecting rooms without having to make a request. The rooms were large and warm. (Temp outside was 2degrees). We were booked at a local restaurant that evening and Debbie booked a taxi for us. Breakfast next morning always a choice of continental or cooked (or both). Neither disappointed. Our dining staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. We had no complaints about our short stay and will hopefully visit later in the year when all facilities are up and running.

Only the fact the bar and bistro were closed but that was due to seasonal opening

Definitely more than a 3 star hotel! Staff all very polite, helpful and competent. Rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good quality, ample choice and service excellent. Evening menu not extensive but choices more than adequate, we enjoyed dinner both nights with 10% off for residents an added bonus. Drinks reasonable priced and staff service very good. We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of this quaint, clean and homely hotel close to both Portrush & Portstewart. The hotel can't control the weather but certainly provided us with a comfortable and relaxed environment to chill out for a few days.

No negatives

We made our booking to go to see the airshow so the location wad ideal. Plenty of parking. We ate in the restaurant both nights food was good. Staff were very friendly. There is a discount given to hotel guests who eat in the restaurant.

The room we had was very dated. I hadn't realised their were more updated rooms. Hopefully this one will be done soon. The ceiling had cracking paint and the window needs repair. Having no lift could be an issue for some people. Breakfast was good but our son only really eats fruit at breakfast and there was none available. To be fair on 2nd morning I asked for strawberries and they got some. I would stay again but would probably request a revamped room. Hopefully the beds and pillows were upgraded.

The main receptionist we spoke to was amazing! So helpful and friendly, she had phoned us before we arrived today that they had got the goats milk we had asked for. This made it a lot less stressful as my son can't have cow's milk. The location was very good and it was very easy to get parked. Dog friendly rooms were on the ground floor and it was convenient to get in and out. The dog friendly restaurant was good, it was good to be able to take our dog with us, we were given a bowl with water for her.

The menu was okay, not a lot of choice, but the food was tasty. Staff were attentive. The breakfast menu could be extended a little, the bacon wasn't nice and there were no fruit options at all. The hot containers did not have a lot of food, the two times we had breakfast so it was a limited choice. However there was an option to order additional things and the food was very hot. As the floor in the bedroom didn't have any carpet at all, it was noisy with the dogs nails. The bathroom could do with some care, the bottom of the architrave on the door was all rotten. There was no bath mat in the bath and it was slippery.

The hotel seems to have had a complete refurbishment making it stylish and comfortable. We had our spaniel with us in a dog friendly double room and our children (18 & 19) were upgraded from a twin to a family room which was huge! (2 double beds, 2 singles, various tables, chairs and a sofa big enough for a football team!) Staff were friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Rooms were clean, tea, coffee and biscuits were complimentary and the shower pressure was good. The food was good (think pub grub) and breakfast had lots of choice, dog bowls are provided if your dog wanted to help you finish your sausages in the morning which is a nice touch.

Not really a problem unless it's raining, but, dogs are not allowed through the main part of the hotel which means you don't have access to some of the nicest parts of the hotel such as the main restaurant with your furry friend, you will need to exit the hotel and walk around the building to access the dog friendly dinning area which is more reminiscent of a pub.

We had a partial sea view (room 201). They gave us a family room which had 4 beds. The extra space was useful as we'd travelled by motorbike and bike gear is bulky. We're bikers so the car park is a big plus. Tarmac, not gravel (if you know you know) and the bikes are hidden from the main drag. The young team at the hotel are delightful.

The rooms and bathrooms are a wee bit tired. Scuffs and damage quite evident, particularly in the bathrooms (not bath mat either so quite slippy). There's no lift, so if you're disabled or carrying heavy gear, it's a challenge. The food was tasty but could have been hotter on almost every occassion.

The staff here are the nicest people I have ever came across. So pleasant and informative nothing was too much bother for them. The location was excellent! Our room 214 had a view out to the sea and we were able to watch the sunset..it is located around 4 minutes in the car from portrush centre and a walkable enjoyable distance along the coast. The outside tables were perfect for a wonderful view whilst sipping over a drink. Breakfast hot and cold with plenty to choose from! A coffee machine with everything from latte to hot chocolate. Toaster machine. Croissants Danish pastries. Granola pots. Cereal and several juices. The hotel is dog friendly and they have a separate eating area for guests with dogs. A hairdryer, shampoo, bodywash and towels are all supplied. Super stay with super staff!

The rooms could do with being updated but this didn't affect our stay.

Lovely breakfast with great Gluten free options, and lovely views over the bay. The room doubles as the bar/ bistro in the evening where we saw spectacular sunsets over the sea. Room was clean and tidy with everything we might need provided.

The hairdryer in our room didn’t work but reception provided a new boxed one straight away. The TV signal only works well if you sit perfectly still! There was a shower gel dispenser but I wasn’t strong enough to squeeze it with one hand! These are small things really- and certainly didn’t take anything away from an enjoyable stay.

Pet friendly room. Big, clean and a brilliant idea. Nicely decorated. Great tea and coffee facilities. Staff all excellent. (Apart from evening chef). Breakfast was brilliant again with pet friendly restaurant. I would recommend this hotel and will go back.

The first night we had a meal in the pet friendly restaurant. The dinner was tiny. I got 8 chips and my wife got 9. Not fair. The breaded fish was from Iceland I think. Also it was the first time I’d seen mushy pea purée. Or was it the juice from the top of the tin? To be honest I was disappointed at the time. The chef who was hosting a new menu that night must have been on drugs. The second night we went elsewhere for our dinner. In contrast the breakfasts were brilliant. We spoke to other customers outside that first night and they felt the same. Miserable dinners.

• liked that the rooms were very spacious, and that room had an adjoining door. • rooms were spotless, the cleaning staff replaced the water bottle and snacks that we had used on the first night and even tucked the bairns teddies into bed which he loved. • the location and views from the room are stunning • staff are great . Pet friendly too! Would defo have took my dog if there had of been space in the car

The breakfast was abit to steep for my liking, would have preferred a cheaper option
