I very much enjoyed my stay here. And it clearly is a very popular hotel as there were at least four functions being held there that weekend (wedding, Rolls Royce enthusiast meeting, 40th birthday party, Mo-Town dance event...) and so the hotel was extremely busy. This meant that none of the common areas were available to us (they were simply filled with the attendees of the events). But, despite being stretched to the limit, it all ran smoothly; check-in was easy, we were seated for meals quickly, all the food was great, everything was kept clean and our room was comfortable and quiet. So well done to all the hard working staff. Also, the Spa was an excellent experience that I would definitely do again.

On arrival, we were assigned to a room that I felt was lower than the room category that I had booked; this was rectified immediately (the receptionist explained that they had a lot of events on that weekend and wanted to give us a quiet room). Also, I had booked the main restaurant for both nights, but was seated in the bistro/bar area on the second night. Julie, the maitre 'd, recognised that a quiet meal meant a lot to me that night, and made it happen, despite clearly having so much work to do that evening. I very much appreciated this. So these two things were the result of the hotel being so busy, but I can tell that the reason that it was so busy is because they are doing the work of hospitality so well.

The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast were amazing. My en suite bathroom was very nice and extremely clean. All the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.

The decor particularly going up the stairs was tired. The TV in my room didn’t work. As the shower is over a bath the provision of a grab rail would have made showering feel much more safe ( I have several replaced joints and my balance could be better)

breakfast was ok, staff were very nice, and the rooms where comfortable

the disappointing part was arriving at 5.30pm on the 6th june, only to be told the spa was shutting at 6.00pm, and it didnt open on the Tuesday(following day). the hotel is advertised as a spa hotel, and was looking forward to chilling after a 400 miles drive, and it was the reason i booked, so to say its a spa hotel is slightly misleading.

The staff - especially the manager of the restaurant were exceptional. One of the nicest hotels where you just get a good feel about the place Food was very good, bed was comfy and I loved the old look about the place

Nothing. Very minor but kettle didn't work, they just topped up my coffee flask at the breakfast restaurant

Beautiful hotel and building and the room was stunning - it really exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was lovely and the building grounds were also beautiful- the room was lovely and clean and the condiments in the room were top quality. Lovely quiets rooms and the bathroom and bath is just stunning. Would stay here again and recommend!

The bed and pillows were a little too firm.

We really appreciate the original and rustic style of the building as well as the log fireplaces throughout.

Upon sign in we were told by staff that breakfast was included the next morning, to then be told that morning that we had paid for room only. On departure the bride had told us it was supposed to be included. We just thought that part was a shame.

This was my third stay at the Hotel, again a very good Hotel that ticks all the boxes for me when staying away from home with work. Staff & food & Rooms are all very good & I will stay again..

Ample parking, a warm and welcoming environment from when you step through the door. The reception, bar dinning areas were very clean and the room was immaculate. Looking forward to a returning visit so we can booking in for the spa, as it looks exceptional!

The room was a very nice room, ground room need by me and my wife, breakfast very good with a great selection for hot and cold

we though the bathroom was small, beds hard, the menu fitted the restaurant but needed a couple of less fancy items for the funny eaters.

Honestly a beautiful hotel / spa , one of the best spa’s I have ever been to . They truly have thought of everything , if you need to de - stress then come here ! I’ve never felt so relaxed in my life , beautiful staff from the moment you walk through reception - nothings too much to ask for and everyone is so friendly. Couldn’t say a bad thing about it! And exceptional value for money , thankyou so much for an unforgettable stay ❤️
