Located at the entrance of the town, The front desk was very friendly and recommended restaurants for us, the hotel is very warm, the rooms are quite large, and the bed covers are very beautiful. The room was well ventilated and the change of clothes dried in one night. Breakfast is served with hot coffee and tea, milk and juice, and bread. Simple but enough

The hotel is quant. It is definitely older. It is well maintained and clean. But it was probably built in the 50s, and most of not all of those elements still remain. It's a lot like visiting your grandmother's house. That she's lived in her whole life. It's not run down. But it is not new. The bathroom had pink tiles, and the shower was very small. But the water pressure was excellent. I'm a larger guy. The ceiling is low in the stall. I stayed on the 4th floor. Which is the second floor from the street level. But it's the fourth floor from the parking lot. So if you have any problem with stairs. Ask for a ground level floor. My room came with a small kitchen. With a 2 burner stove and an apartment size refrigerator. And a dining table. The closet was large and separated the room from the bathroom. It was relatively quiet. Even though we were on the main road. The young lady who checked us out was very friendly.

There are a lot of stairs. We arrived right at 4 p.m. which is check-in time. There was almost no parking left. We got 1 of the last 4 spots. The young man who checked us in was friendly and kind of dismissive.

This hotel is in a great location - short walk to the main streets of Carmel, good views out and quiet. When we arrived, it was easy to park on the premises. The check in process was straightforward- the staff are welcoming and professional. We were visiting for a wedding nearby so we didn’t spend a lot of time on site. However, there is a pool and a few outdoor areas that would have been good to use. The breakfast each morning is perfect and simple - coffees to go, muffins/pastries, yoghurt. The bed was comfortable, the room was large and well organised with a good bathroom. It’s a dog friendly hotel - we paid an additional fee (we expected to and it was reasonable). We recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again!

The location near the center of Carmel is a huge draw. 17 mile drive and Monterey are close by. You could walk to restaurants, shops, etc. Breakfast was standard yogurt and sweet roll fare, but a little something, anyway! Real glasses were furnished, along with wine glasses! The pool looked nice but it was too cool outside for us to use it.

The room was clean and neat, but there was a distinct odor of cat urine and Lysol that we asked the front desk to do something about but nothing was done. Not that big a deal, though. Parking was tight but expected.

Wonderfully located where you can easily walk to Ocean Ave. and Carmel Beach. The property is clean and well kept. The staff is professional and courteous. There is also free parking.

The walls and floors tend to be thin, which means that you can hear neighbors’ conversations and footsteps. In addition, the mattress tends to be on the softer side. Finally, the continental breakfast consisted of mainly coffee/tea/juice, fruits (apples and oranges) and individually wrapped pastries and muffins, all served on a small table inside the lobby area.

The hotel is definitely older but our room was very clean. Quirky room layout with mini fridge and coffee pot in the bathroom. Only outdated power bars for gluten-free guests like me. It was cold so we didn't use the pool although it also looked very clean. If you find a parking spot on the street when you arrive, take it - because parking spots associated with the hotel were full, and we weren't there during peak tourist season. The location is very good, which was the main reason we booked there. Very walkable.

Definitely, coffee pots and mini fridge in the bathroom are a no-no in my book. Also, there are many more gluten-free options in the world than a power bar.

We loved the proximity to downtown, room location, parking situation, and overall it was comfy. The bed was shockingly nice and they use pottery barn bedding!

I hated our neighbors. We complained to the front desk 3 times in one night about their screaming child (in the eve and early morning before 9am). Staff did call the room and log our complaints to the guest but it was really disappointing that there was no solution offered regarding relocating us or anything else after calling 3 times in one day. Please do not travel with young children… period.

The location was great it was a short walk to the shops and restaurants of Carmel, and also a quick walk to the beach. The room was also nicer than I expected. The bedding was soft and clean and the bathroom/shower was nice, clean, and updated. A couple more nice things were that I had a pastry from the continental breakfast that tasted great and the WiFi worked well. Furthermore, they checked us in early, our scheduled check in was three p.m., but I’d say they checked us in about an hour early.

I expected the sauna to be a bit larger, and I thought it would be a steamy sauna and not so dry. But that was my fault for getting my expectations so high, because I did remember later that I had read somewhere ahead of time that it was a “dry sauna”.

The room was basic hotel room except incl a fridge which was very helpful. It had a nice view of the ocean and bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed the continental breakfasts each morning, set up as grab and go, but the staff were there to greet with a smile and pour coffee for me, which was so nice. Housekeeping service was included in the rate every day, which was an added value, but I chose to have them come in only twice during my 5 night stay. because I was relaxing in my room and didn't want to be disturbed.

I was situated by the stairwell so I heard ppl coming and going on the stairs. Nights were peaceful and quiet though, and around 10 AM the housekeepers began cleaning the rooms so it was a bit noisy in the hallway for a couple of hours.

Hofhas is wonderfully located famiily inn It has excellent staff and is located at the top of the historic, walkable art village of Carmel-by-the Sea with intereresting archtecture, shops, ad restaurants within steps. Our room had a balconey that faces the sunset over the ocean, and we could hear the muffled sound of the surf throughout the night. Hofhas is very clean, has classic furniture that fits with the setting and distinctive history of the Inn, and is very comfortable. Met the grandaughter of the original innkeeper. Carmel Beach and Carmel River State Beach are memorable.
