Hollywood is not the nicest area. There are a lot of homeless people on the streets. However , they won’t harm you. There is security 24/7 , so no one can get in.The hotel is very clean and has spacious rooms. Beds are comfortable, as it is common in the US. The staff are friendly and helpful. Although Hollywood is not the best area it is central. There is a target , a Starbucks and a Walgreens as well as several fast food chains within walking distance of the hotel. During the day you can see the Hollywood sign from the balcony. Nothing to dislike about the hotel really.

The streets of Hollywood are a bit dirty. LA has a huge homeless crisis , which you can see everywhere in the city. However , they will not harm you. I would say the area is generally safe. Of course you have to be reasonably careful and watch out. Walking around after 8 PM isn’t a good idea. But I would say you always have to be careful no matter where you are. Sure Hollywood isn’t the nicest area but it’s ok.

Beds comfortable but blanket on top not very thick. Pillows good. Good bath. Quiet room. Could open the window. Half an hour walk to Hollywood . 10mins walk to train for Santa Monika.

No microwave or coffee/tes making facilities. Needed to put a $100 bond which reduced the amount of money I could spend. Got it back within 2 days of leaving though. Area is not great. There was a security guard on at the Motel most days. Untold amounts of visibly mentally ill and homeless people. Its inhumane. Americas is not a pleasant place at the moment, LA in particular. Won't be rushing back to LA.

Very accommodating staff. Friendly and informative. I left my makeup bag there after checkout and they mailed it to me at no expense. I definitely would recommend. Very easy access off the highway and close to many of the sights. Runs parallel to Hollywood Blvd and the Walk of Fame. In fact, you could just walk to it. Easy ride to the Hollywood sign as well.

The restaurant was never open while we were there, but there are many places to eat within 2 blocks. Rooms are dated though. No microwave, coffee machine or tea kettle in room. Found out on checkout they are kept in the office and can be requested

Classic American hotel in a fantastic location on Sunset Blvd. Staff were always available, friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Free parking in this location was incredible as finding spaces in L.A is not easy!

Not much could have been better for our stay here, except that the on site restaurant wasn't open so all food & drink had to be bought off site. Rooms by the road were a little noisy but not crazy.

A great location in LA - only a twenty minute walk to the start of the Hollywood walk of fame and a short drive to the Griffith Observatory to view the Hollywood sign. Plenty of restaurants and fast food near by. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Checking in and out was an easy process and staff were friendly. Great value for money and would stay again.

Good value for money, directly next to bus stop and close to metro (we didn't have a car). The neighbourhood was fine and didn't feel particularly dangerous, young people and families around, easy access to Hollywood and Universal Studios. Westwood/Getty/Santa Monica easily accessible with bus/metro, travel time is quite long but the journeys were fine.

Patchy WiFi, keycards always stopped working. Area might feel dangerous to some without a car (there are some homeless camps around and as other people have mentioned, people often hang out around the 7/11. But we had no trouble)

June 2023

I've been there many times before, and I knew what to expect.

When I tried to check in, I found out that I had booked a stay for June 14th, not the 7th as I thought. I don't know if this was an inadvertent mistake on my part or if your website changed my booking somehow. I have noticed that when trying to book on the Dunes website, choosing a date on a calendar doesn't always change the date on top. The person on duty at the motel acknowledged that the website sometimes has glitches. In any case, I had to call Booking.com to change the arrival date, and besides taking time, I had trouble understanding the English of the lady I was speaking with on the phone.

We stayed here for 3 nights in Sept22. The room was clean, fresh linen and towels provided everyday. Don’t forget to put Do not disturb sign if you don’t want the cleaners to come into your room. Free parking but first come first served. Location is good near to Universal Studios Hollywood. We took grabs and cost us around $10-$14 to USH. The area isn’t pretty and we saw plenty of homeless but they are harmless. We felt comfortable walking to Target, Walgreens and places nearby. But wouldn’t do it in the dark. Overall great stay, will stay here again.

No complaint

The proximity to Hollywood and other LA hallmarks was superb, you didn’t necessarily need to rely on driving as there are good public transport connections nearby. Although the rooms are quite small, they are cosy and well cleaned. Good WiFi and the free parking is very welcome considering many other motels charge for parking.

The air con was very old and not particularly reliable. There’s not so much in the way of restaurants and shops near the motel, besides fast food restaurants, so you’re slightly limited.

We stayed in a double room for 7 nights. The room appeared nice and clean. The only thing was the carpet. When walking about with no shoes on, our feet were black. I could not see an obvious reason for this other than this the room was clean. It was handy having a fridge. We also liked the area, there is a big Target nearby and several eating places. I would stay here again.

The dirty carpet.
