I stayed 3 days at The Beach and 4 days at the Honu Hostels in the same week, which are both owned by ALOH, so I’ll leave a review for both at the same time. THE BEACH: has a rooftop, which made meeting new persons easy. Social was much easier at the Beach in my opinion, because at Honu the social area are picnic tables and not really set up to meet. On the other side, the HONU is newer, so it is very clean and beautiful. The rooms at both hostels were good, but I must point out that at The Beach the shower head was completely covered in mold. The rooftop at The Beach compensated for the dirty shower head. Otherwise, both hostels are verry nice. Take the Beach to meet new people or take Honu for a recent and new property. I had a great time in both hostels. ALOH also have a third hostel, The Seaside I think, but I didn’t sleep there. All 3 hostels share a WhatsApp group that you can join upon checking-in, being a solo traveller, this group change my WHOLE Hawaii experience for the better, what a great idea!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I like that they let you drop off your things before check in. We were able to grab lunch and drinks when we arrived early. They had free rental items, such as snorkeling gear, surf boards, inflatables, towels, etc. They provided free coffee every morning (and it was actually good). There are food trucks near by with amazing food. It was a 5 minute walk from the beach. The rooftop was chill.
It would get a bit loud when other guests walked by at night, however this wasn’t a problem during quiet hours.

Rooms are clean daily, the location is great and you can even take surfboards and snorkels for free. I highly recommend it.
Electric sockets are insufficient for the number of people in the room.

The room was clean, air conditioned, quiet, kitchen and washing facilities were great and not miles away. Food vans on the street all delicious, WhatsApp group for guests made it super easy to meet people and coordinate tours etc

Very friendly stuff, easy to make new friends, so close to the beach and shops! The room was clean but also depends on how clean the people are that you share a bathroom with… we weren’t very lucky.

The community is great, very sociable hostel with a lot of activities. I love, that you get discount for great tours on the island and you can be part of a WhatsApp group, where you can find more like-minded people. The location is great and in the morning, there is free coffee. In some rooms you have your own fridge or kitchenette. The outside seating area in front of the rooms are cool. You can rent towels, snorkels, paddle and surfboards and much more. Rooms get cleaned daily.
The rooms are pretty dark and it feels a little damp/mouldy. Also there are no powerpoints near the beds and the AC is very loud.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. I stayed in a female dorm. The location is perfect, it's in the Waikiki neighborhood, it means there are lots of shops and restaurants nearby, there are lots of bus stops near. All the employees are very polite, positive and provide useful local advice about Oahu and the best places to visit. I can say that everything is very well organized. There is free coffee in the mornings and the option to rent equipment. I can say that everything is made to make sure travelers are comfortable and enjoy their time in Hawaii ! I met lots of interesting travelers. This hostel is a great place for those travelling individually and those who are looking to meet and chat with other travellers. I have enjoyed every second of my stay at this beautiful hostel, I've visted lots of great places in Oahu by taking a public bus that stops near the hostel and I highly recommend this place ! 10 out 10 !!! Awesome place to stay !

Location couldn’t be better. The staff were great and the facilities were good i.e you could use the surf boards, beach chairs etc. The rooftop was a good addition. I had a sitting area outside my room just for us which was great. Also had fridge, microwave in the room. Would probably stay here again.
Expensive, as is most of Hawaii so can’t really say it’s their fault. Fairly clean, cleaners came in most days however, didn’t provide things like hand soap? So had to buy my own which for the price of the stay was crazy. The rooms were quite dated, needed a bit of a face lift. Had appliances in the rooms but no cutlery? The fridge never got checked or emptied by anyone working there, so people’s food was left and was going bad which was gross.

Super Location, fun community, good activities, boogie boards and other equipment on loan, roof terrace to meet people and clean rooms and bathrooms (I stayed in a semi-private room in Beach 2)
The kitchen facilities are very much lacking, all outdoor and it’s not really set up for cooking (saving money). Hard to find even a bowl for cereal at times and easiest to use just for microwave and/or toast. Also, no indoor social space except for benches at reception area. As it was raining heavily during my stay, I stayed in my room more than I would expect in a hostel. Also, there are no personal storage facilities to lock up anything of value so travel light, no wardrobes or other personal storage (with or without lock).
