We enjoyed the cozy room with the poet bio on the wall. All the pillows were nice to have, the coffee in the room was nice to have. The continental type breakfast was both warm and cold items and was the right amount for morning. We also enjoyed a drink in the very cozy British style pub! Will definitely stay here again.
I'm not thrilled with the strange half shower door which lets all the cold air in and because they don't slide, I couldn't turn the water on before I got in without getting wet. I don't like a cold shower and so always turn the water on first before I get any water on me, so that it can warm up. Plus it would be nice if there was a heater in the bathroom or a heat light of some kind to warm up the bathroom in the winter and clear up the condensation on the mirrors.

The hotel has a great design. We really liked all that decor in the room, in corridors and lobby. The attached restaurant was a great one too, Staff was very welcoming and helpful, and the location right near the zoo was excellent for a family trip. Gym equipment was good too.
A/C was noisy, and a window had gaps that pass drafts in windy weather. Very tight entrance to the parking garage. Breakfast area is tiny, with most tables having two seats only (it seems that more space would be available outdoors in summer). And as they have a restaurant at the grounds, there are no microwaves in rooms - might be critical for families with small kids.

Staff was super friendly and welcoming at both check in and check out. The hotel's old fashioned British inn theme is carried throughout every aspect, and feels like you're truly there. My travel companion has been to British inns and said this hotel was spot on. Loved that every room is themed after a British author, and a plaque inside the room tells you about their history. It was fun to walk around and see all of the decor throughout the hotel. Even the smell was welcoming, loved the warm apple scented candle that made the entire lobby area smell delicious. We ate dinner at the tavern inside the hotel which was dark, cozy and immersive - and had great food too! Continental breakfast in the morning was delicious with lots of yummy pastries, coffee and tea, juices, eggs and sausage, etc. Beds were comfy and the room was spacious. Parking garage beneath the hotel was very convenient, as was having 2 restaurants and a themed Starbucks onsite.
Could hear our neighbors talking well into the night and early the next morning - don't know if the walls are a bit thin or if those people were just really loud talkers. Either way, we still got a great night's sleep :) Bathroom had an overwhelming bleach smell when we arrived, but it got better as we let it air out. Overall, not much to complain about!

What a wonderful stay, as always! The staff is so polite and helpful, and the breakfast is top-notch and delicious. Our room was comfortable and easy to relax in. The Basso had amazing happy hour deals that were perfect for our family.
Our air conditioner wasn't working initially, but the issue was fixed quickly. The pub was a little too small for a family of 4 to enjoy so we didn't get to eat there this time. Overall these were small things and didn't affect our stay negatively in any way.

The room, lobby, Fox and Hound, and beautiful artwork on the walls were captivating. The place itself is beautiful and retains the original charm of the day. There are ORIGINAL big carved couches and armoires, oil painting portraits, etchings and lamps from the 1800's. The rom was quite comfortable, we had family visit us there.
The breakfast was awful. It consisted of stale pastries, dried out sausage patties, and weak coffee on both days we were there. I had a better breakfast at The Best Western.

Room was quiet comfortable wifi was strong and reliable. Breakfast included hot (eggs, sausage) bread/pastries, ( bagels, Danish, croissants,...) beverages (coffee, tea, juice) and best of all FRESH Fruit. Rooms were named after authors. Mine was Mary Shelly, with a framed description in the room. Appreciated the bookmark with "Frankenstein" printed on it

Loved the location and theme of the hotel
Not sure what the actual employees job was as I just saw him wondering around. He invited his family to come take over the pool while we were trying to enjoy the pool to ourselves. Early in the evening two teens were dropped off. They were in the pool harassing guests for their social medias. Later 4-5 other adults and a few children showed up to pick up teens and ended up staying and taking over the pool. We were forced to get out whale they were allowed to stay past pool hours.

We loved the overall aesthetics and atmosphere! Such a neat place FULL of history, the kids felt like they were in Hogwarts! The grounds were easy to navigate and the pool was very nice!
I’m a clean freak so take this with a grain of salt: they didn’t vacuum under the beds and it was extremely dusty. Obviously not a deal breaker but it is something I noticed.

I loved the decor, the ambiance. The tavern was perfect- great staff and drinks. Breakfast was really good- perfect scrambled eggs. The room was clean, as was our bathroom.
The bed was a bit hard, but the pillows were great- if only there had been a couple more of them. I've always wanted to stay there and I'm glad I finally did. I'm sure I'll stay again- but I'll be more careful walking around the end of the bed- those bed legs must have been designed by Tonya Harding's bodyguard.😁

No place we have ever been to matches the character and family friendliness of this hotel. The location is excellent as it is right near the highlights of St. Louis. Whenever we come to St. Louis, this is the only place we stay! It alone is a travel destination!
It was under construction and looking a bit worn which is to be expected for this type of hotel.
