Loved that all rooms face the beach so you can take in the beautiful views during the day and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Great place that is very comfy and perfect for a laid back vacation to simply relax and enjoy nature at it's finest. Nice people operate the inn and are very, very accommodating. You can even bring your four footed friend along to enjoy a nice stay in Cape Ann. Just remember to clean up after them so we can all continue to bring them along on our next trip.

It's a mid century motor in and is somewhat dated. It could use some refreshing and our room's ceiling showed signs of previous roof leakage which I am sure has been corrected but the ceiling itself was quite patchy.

Cape Ann Motor Inn was a very nice surprise on our road trip! Location is fabulous! We got to see a beautiful beach sunrise and sunset and a lovely moonrise! We couldn’t have asked for more! Complimentary breakfast was nice and cozy! We traveled with our 5 month baby and our stay was just perfect. The lady in the reception even lent us a screwdriver to replace the batteries of our son’s music device! Beds were comfortable and the rooms were warm (it was cold outside). The balcony though shared is lovely!

There is nothing we didn’t like, there are of course stairs and no elevator, but an historical Inn cant have it all!

The location of this hotel is so perfect! Right on the ocean, it was beautiful to wake up and sit on the patio and watch the surfers and listen to the ocean. The hotel is very cozy and gives older costal colonial vibes. I felt like I was staying at my grandparents summer beach house. The staff was so nice, parking was easy, and it’s a close drive to Salem and Rockport where you can explore cute little shops and restaurants. The only thing I wasn’t expecting is that you don’t have a private balcony, it’s just open to anyone to walk by. I was hoping to sleep with the patio door open and listen to the ocean at night, but anyone could walk by your patio door. Also, the walls are thin, so you can hear the neighbors or guests outside, but it was pretty quiet while we were there, even though it seemed there where a lot of visitors staying at the hotel. It’s nothing fancy, but it was clean and comfy, and really fit the old Massachusetts costal vibes we were hoping for. It met all of my expectations and we really enjoyed our stay!

This place was AMAZING! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the maid service was great and the view can't be beat. If I had an option higher than excellent I would have chosen it! Can't wait to stay here again!

Only negative is that it's so far from my home in Kansas that I won't be able to return soon enough. This place made our whole trip even better! Well done folks!

Dated but well maintained and equipped. Small bathroom. The prize is the view and location right on the beach. If you have a beach-loving dog, it will be in heaven. Dogs are allowed from September 16 until June. Good restaurants nearby and a sub, pizza and great ice cream place within walking distance. No elevator so keep that in mind when reserving. Great, protected beach for swimming on one end, wave action on the other.

Breakfast was just beverages and pastries but they were high quality. I found the room temperature impossible to adjust except by opening the door to the balcony. No AC.

Our rustic 3rd floor end unit directly on the oceanfront was amazing! Because the sliding door to the balcony had a shortened lock bar, we were able to keep it partially opened and listen to the ocean waves throughout the night. As well, we had a perfect spot to watch both the rising moon across the ocean at night and sunrise in the morning! The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Their breakfast goodies in the lobby included not only coffee and teas, but also locally made donuts and assorted breads, plus a variety of fresh fruit.

The motel didn't really have any negatives. While the name "Motor Inn" doesn't sound that appealing, the property looked well taken care of and to be right on the ocean was perfect. We would definitely return and recommend.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! You can't beat a room directly on the beach. The staff is very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Coffee, juice, fresh muffins and donuts available in the lobby every morning. A big plus for us ... we could take our dog which you don't see that often in New England lodgings.

The room we had could have used better lighting by the beds. The exterior door lock was temperamental and we couldn't get the shower to work.

What a gem! It was the consummate New England view of the beach and two lighthouses on a jetty, surrounded by a quaint neighborhood. It’s this wonderful little gem on a quiet, dog-friendly beach. I could wake up and watch sunrise from my cozy bed. Gloucester is a fabulous little town full of amazing food. My friend and I got brunch at George’s, a fancy dinner at the Azorean, and one at the Franklin, and a yummy coffee at Lone Gull. I would love to come back in the summer but, alas, I live on the west coast.

The noise pollution was the worst part of the stay. Very creaky and paper thin walls. You definitely hear anyone next door and if your upstairs neighbors are heavy-footed, it’s pretty loud. We got ear plugs and that helped.

If you want to be directly on the beach, this is the place to stay ! All the rooms have sliding glass doors and a shared balcony that looks out over the beach and the ocean. The motel has a deep section of beach that is private, so plenty of room.

I made my reservation online, and mistakenly thought all the rooms had kitchenettes. The room was great, the bathroom was great, and we did have a dorm sized fridge and a coffee maker.

We were impressed with all the improvements to the property and the upgrades to the rooms. Most of all I must say everyone from the groundskeepers, cleaning staff to the front desk were just incredibly friendly, professional and welcoming. Of course no words can describe the location. We have visited here many times in the past and plan to come again for years to come.
