Breakfast room and location is wonderful, food is about standard for a hotel breakfast, staff is very attentive. Beautiful rooms and architecture, great history through out the building, photos and paintings - a real sense of being somewhere historic.
Beds had no headboard which is odd and uncomfortable. Pillows could be a little better- they were on the small side. Rooms are a little cramped but that's to be expected for this era of hotels and when it was built. Bathroom accessories did not meet the pricing of the hotel room - would expect this kind of hotel to be about $25-30 cheaper per night, it's not a 4 star and I paid 4 star prices.

We were looking for a downtown location that had most everything within walking distance and the hotel did have all that we needed. The beds were an okay size for the size of the room and age of the facility; we wanted historic, and we got that. Additional items needed were brought up quickly, service was good. The lobby was a fun place to have coffee and hang out.
The cold breakfast was very limited but good, the location of the swimming pool, and optional hot breakfast was located in another lodge about a block away, not a real big deal just different but they worked together and so all that was listed was offered. The only thing missing for us was a coffee maker in the room, but they provided coffee and tea starting at 6 AM so that worked well too.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great lobby and dining areas. Too bad lounge was closed. Breakfast was good but could have used more variety day to day.
Didn’t expect small size of room (305), furnishings were comfortable, a little worn but clean and serviceable. Could use more shelving in bathroom and a lounge type chair in room. A little disappointed that room was not styled as in 1930-40s similar to downstairs.

This is a historic hotel - beautifully maintained, the history shared throughout the building. It does not have the newness of a more modern hotel room; it was charming, like a trip back in time and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff was welcoming, breakfast the next morning was good, the location was excellent (lots of places to eat and shop in walking distance), and the rooms were clean. The restaurant and lounge onsite were really good as well. If you are looking for a unique experience and appreciate the history, you will love this place!

Great location and the woman at the front desk was very helpful - recommended a great restaurant the second night - had a wonderful dinner at the Lounge in hotel the first night. Spent 4th of July weekend cycling the Pine Creek Rail Trail, which is only 7-8 mile drive from downtown Wellsboro, Pa. Great breakfast - gentleman serving breakfast was pleasant and very helpful. Staff as a whole were wonderful.
Just like many old hotels, the rooms were tiny.

Penn Wells is an old landmark hotel, and the staff work hard to keep it functioning as it should. All the staff were attentive and personable. We had no problems at all to report, but friends we were traveling with did have some minor issues in the room that were addressed immediately.
There is a LOT of truck traffic through this small town, so it is very noisy. This is not under the control of the hotel, of course.

Breakfast was filling; breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Location of Penns Wells---right in the middle of Main Street. Perfect. Easy access to Pike Creek Gorge.
Taking a shower was an adventure in finding a steady water temperature. It was funny as we didn't know if in the midst of the shower we would get a cold rush or a hot blast. It certainly awakened us for the day ahead.

It’s like walking back in time. This historic inn takes you back to a simpler era. The lobby is preserved in yesteryear. The desk service is wonderful. Everyone takes pride in the inn.
It is on the main drag so it’s abit noisy. Some of the furnishings are dated. If you want a hotel loaded with amenities, this is not the place for you.

It was a great stay. Marked down only for the cost as I think it was too expensive. I tried prior to our visit to request a better promotion rate but was declined...I should have looked around and did not know the event we went to would have had rooms saved for the party. Still it was a nice hotel and friendly service as well as a nice breakfast.
only thing that could have been better was a better price but that is on me for not knowing details of things. The location was great and Wellsboro is a charming little city!

Breakfast was excellent! Staff was very nice and helpful.
We expected a restaurant - unfortunately we were there on a Monday. But the lady at the desk directed us to several eateries. Also, we thought there was a pool. We probably read it wrong. The sink could use a stopper.
