We stayed in the Estella Suite which was spacious and comfortable, including the bed. We were greeted by the extremely welcoming owner with chocolate chip cookies and wine upstairs in the Conservatory. Breakfasts were made to order and were served promptly. We have traveled a lot and have never experienced such a friendly owner/staff. Even the cook (Skyleen) was very friendly and helpful. I was on a special diet at the time and the owner quickly accommodated me. It was like a home away from home. We would not hesitate to rate this experience as "wonderful!"

We were very sad that, upon our departure for home, we were unable to locate Heidi to thank her for everything and wish her well.

The room had exactly what I was looking for. It was quaint with a Jacuzzi and a fireplace, luxuries we don’t get and it was great to just relax. Heidi was extremely nice and helpful upon checking in. We would definitely come back!

This was a hard question to answer but we were bummed out that nobody was upstairs in the kitchen to serve breakfast when we went up at 8:50 this morning. We could smell that somebody else enjoyed a meal so we thought sooner or later a staff member would come by. There were no signs to indicate what to do if nobody was there, and we thought that the cameras facing us as we enjoyed our delicious coffees would have alerted staff members that we were there. At 9:20 we decided to leave, a little bit disappointed. We also did not feel comfortable summoning a staff member to serve us. We didn’t want to be a bother by texting Heidi or whoever else was there. We thought somebody would have been upstairs to see us and serve us the breakfast that came with our booking. We left disappointed.

Heidi made you feel very welcomed upon arrival and was resourceful for places to visit while there. The room was very comfortable with walk in shower. Made to order breakfast was great each morning in a room on the third floor with a view of the harbor. Also it’s centrally located to the mansions and downtown area so we were able to walk or take the free trolley to mostly everything

The steps to the third floor were narrow but manageable. But we knew about them when making reservations so that wouldn’t hinder our decision to return

The staff is friendly, efficient, provided lots of details regarding the area. Super helpful! The upstairs dining area has a gorgeous view of the harbor, with a cozy deck. Nice spot to relax after a long day.

Hot water was minimal, at best. Let's just say morning showers were "refreshing"! Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 10, rather late for anyone rising early. The menu looked delicious, unfortunately the timing didn't work for our schedule.

the breakfast was home cooked to order and there was good choice. the staff were great and the location was excellent. The view from the breakfast room was beautiful.

The room with a king bed and balcony felt very small and the furnishings and lighting could have been improved. The owner was very gracious and allowed us to change rooms at no extra charge. :-)

My stay was very comfortable. I opted for the Estella suite. It's nice sitting in the jacuzzi tub while looking at the gas fireplace. The tub is very large, enough room for two and I'm 6'3'. The bed was very comfortable. Heidi was great. She was filled with great suggestions for restaurants and things to do. She even shared a few interesting stories historic to Newport. Being able to walk to many great shops and restaurants was a huge plus.

The breakfast was awesome! Heidi and Eileen were so friendly and full of information to help us navigate Newport. The location is perfect between Thames St. and the Cliff Walk. The wine and cookies were a nice touch, too! Yummy. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Not a big deal, but the sink was a little slow to drain.

Loved the location and the view from the breakfast room! Also, the king bed in our room was the most comfortable bed we've slept in in years! Also, Monday morning's breakfast was excellent!

Our breakfasts were not so great with the weekend cook and were not very much food. We almost skipped Monday morning's breakfast but we're glad we didn't.

Property located in the heart of Newport. Heidi and Ron are excellent hosts. Exactly the type of relaxation and enjoyment one can ask for. Highly recommended!

Clean, comfortable and personable, located in the historic section of Newport.

The room was very nice, everything was very clean, jacuzzi worked great, bathroom was clean, the breakfasts that Ron made were excellent, and Ron had lots of great advice for Newport. Being so close to the wharf/shopping area was also a big plus. The upper dining room is probably the best part of the Artful Lodger experience.

The bed had a bit of a pit in the middle, I found it uncomfortable, could be just me. The room gets warm due to the gas fireplace which is always lit at the lowest setting, which means you need to have a window open and the ceiling fan running to stay cool, but the ceiling fan makes quite a bit of noise. Unfortunately, there was some sort of wifi outage, so we didn't have wifi for most of our stay, not sure what the source of that issue was. Also, nitpicky, we were given cookies upon checking in as a welcoming gift of sorts, but they were store-bought cookies which were quite stale.
