Everything!!!

Barking dog. People HAVE to bring their pets with and then leave them in the room alone. BARKING constantly! Rethink pet policy.

The location was excellent! Within walking distance of a lot of great restaurants & bars. The Read House had a great bar as well as a steak house (Bridgeman's Chophouse). The room was nice and clean, and the bed was comfy. Parking was inexpensive. The Read House is also close to many great attractions, like Ruby Falls, the incline railway, and the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery. There's a Starbucks on site, but there's also Peet's Coffee just across the way. Here's a list of great places to eat/drink within walking distance: Pickle Barrel, Tupelo Honey, The Social, Public House, Slim & Husky's Pizza, Champy's, The Bitter Alibi.

Bridgeman's Chophouse was expensive, which is to be expected at a swanky hotel; but the steaks were bland. I had the prime center cut NY strip & my wife had the hand cut ribeye, both cooked to medium. Salt was lacking. Definitely needed the truffle butter & Maytag blue cheese. The cocktails were excellent, however. As were the white truffle mac & cheese.

This hotel was the best part of our 17 day trip so far. We felt like princesses. We decided to upgrade to the tower rooms and it is one of the best decisions we could have made. We took the tour of the Haunted Room 311. Very interesting hotel history. We ended every day with drinks from the bar and even enjoyed complementary champagne.

The only complaint we had was the water pressure is the shower. Definitely not a deal breaker for returning.

I like the location, I could walk to the main attractions in Chattanooga and coffee shops. The hotel has an interesting history. The lobby feels like you are part of an Agatha Christie's novel. It has valet parking which is convenient but you have to pay. The rates are in line with parking lots near by.

The part of the hotel that I stayed is a little bit worn out. The bathroom tub has been patched with white paint where there were worn out parts. The hotel was clean though, and there was a very nice handyman keeping things running. The feel of the hotel may not be for everybody.

Gorgeous historical hotel that created the perfect ambiance for a relaxing trip with my granddaughters. They felt like princesses there. I just sat and listened to the 1920-era music playing in the lobby. There are many places to sit and relax and read. The greeter with the hat tipping to welcome me was a superb touch. Classy and affordable. Close to all Chattanooga activities. Valet parking was very helpful. Everyone was pleasant. Pool and fitness center were perfect. We will be back!

Beautiful hotel Great facilities and stunning architecture Unfortunately our room was in the wrong part of the hotel. The coating on the bath was flaking, the room smelt a bit damp, when we wanted a shower we couldn’t work it. Reception sent someone up with a demonstration tap to show so obviously this is a common occurrence. The next morning I got up early and there was no hot water. I left the tap running for 5 minutes without success. Tried again an hour later and it was warm. When I mentioned this on checkout the receptionist rolled their eyes and apologised.

The room was were in was very disappointing

It was a Pretty, old hotel. The room was a good size and nicely decorated. The valet parkers were very pleasant. I couldn't get to the hotel easily because there was a concert for which the streets were closed. I called the hotel and they directed me there while staying on the phonewith me.

There was no free coffee. They have a Starbucks with an entry to the hotel, but an urn of coffee in the lobby isn't that hard to manage. Also, I would have liked a heads-up text from the hotel that streets around it would be closed for a concert so I could have figured out how to get there more easily and with less frustration.

Our stay at the Read House was wonderful! Before arriving to the hotel, my partner and I were notified that we can text the hotel's front desk with any questions/concerns we may have. Little details like this is much appreciated. We checked in late on a Friday night. The valets were attentive and immediately came over to our car. Richie at the front desk helped check us in. He upgraded us from a Traditional King on the Manor side to a Premier King on the Historic Tower side, which was a very nice surprise! Richie was friendly when answering questions we had about the hotel. The Premier King room was great. It was very spacious and well-lit. The closet had tons of space. The bathroom was big and bright. The shower had good water pressure. The vanity was large as well. There was a dedicated work area. The bed was very comfortable, though a touch too soft for my liking. The pillows were great quality too. There were blackout shades on all the windows, which made it convenient when we wanted to sleep in. The Read House's amenities are satisfactory. We didn't get to go in the indoor pool but we did take a peek and it looked nice. The gym was sufficient for a hotel. They had dumbbells from 5 lbs to 50 lbs, adjustable benches, medicine balls, and several cardio machines (bike, treadmill, elliptical). Only thing missing was a cable machine. It is a smaller space though, so it felt a little cramped when there were 5 people in there. There is a real Starbucks attached to the hotel, which is so convenient. We didn't get to try the bar or Bridgeman's Chophouse. The hotel lobby is very grand and photo-worthy! They definitely play up the Jazz Age vibe. The hotel is centrally located in the downtown Chattanooga area. It was a quick walk to all the main sights downtown. We felt safe walking around even close to midnight. Overall, we loved our stay at the Read House and would definitely stay here again! Maybe next time, we'll check out Room 311...

It took a bit longer than ideal for the elevators to arrive. The TV was slow to respond when changing channels, etc.

Chattanooga is my home town, although I’ve resided in Florida for over fifty years now. Staying at this historic treasure downtown was sort of a bucket list for me. So glad they’ve saved it, and the renovation and modernization is spectacular!

The only complaint I have is being charged $24. per day for parking. I realize this practice is common these days for hotels located in the middle of larger cities but, I still resent the practice.

I stayed in the premium rooms, it was very clean and recently refurbished. My first night was booked separately in one of the traditional rooms, which was fine.

The weekends can be busy, there were lots of breeders in the hotel during the weekend, and noisy kids everywhere, particularly in the reception area I could hear in the evening the screaming noise from the pool area. If you are looking for a peaceful time, I would advise you to avoid the weekend, however, my room was quiet and during the week of my stay was very nice. Otherwise, the hotel is lovely, I think it should be adult-only.
