Location, style, ambiance and the laid back feel of the hotel. The heated rooms were nice given that it was freezing outside, literally.
Although it is a nice stylish hotel but place is overpriced, the parking costing extra 35 usd overnight, and so is a very basic breakfast (coffee and a pastry) for two. So it’s laid back only seemingly. Also, the staff seem to have an attitude that is a bit pretentious, including the waiters and the chef in the restaurant. There were very few to almost none vegan options. Nice but it can be somewhat off putting.

Very hip design-focused hotel with lots of nice "bonuses" like a powerful bluetooth speaker in the room, plenty of shelves, racks and hooks, stocked mini-bar, free bike rental, cafe on site, etc. I appreciated the communication via text message (like a normal person...) and the flexibility on check-in time and some other adjustments I had to make to my reservation. Awesome location for driving to Austin-area sights, though it is a bit of a hike to downtown (Uber/Lyft is cheap here, and it's an easy pick-up/drop-off spot).
The pool was nice, but frigid, in April. I don't know if it's unheated or just not turned on, I didn't ask. My room was missing a few of the room service request indicators (magnets to put on the door). I wish the restaurant had opened a little earlier or closed later - never got to try it, and it seems like it would be a cool place to hang out late into the evening. Room prices are a bit high in my opinion, and the additional charge for parking was a bit unexpected, given that the hotel has a dedicated garage.

-Very friendly and helpful staff -The overall vibe; there's something "je ne sais quoi" about this place, something artsy and nostalgic. -Their pool is surrounded by trees, I enjoyed chilling by the pool in the shade every morning. -Great location, walking distance to the river and two major parks, and a good selection of nice restaurants around.
-The on-site restaurant. The restaurant wasn't "bad" per se, but it's lacklustre compared to the hotel itself: the options are basic and lacking, and the cocktails are overpriced.

Overall great location, the pool was the best part along with the cafe and lunch spaces. The hotel was mostly clean, and the rooms were mostly clean. Food and drinks were good!
Honestly, the staff could be more welcoming, we chose this spot considering the past reviews raving about the staff but from our experience except for the cafe, the people weren't that welcoming/friendly esp the front desk. My friends ordered a bouquet to be placed in my room but arrived to an empty room without the flowers. The staff confirmed that the bouquet will be pre-packed in the room but was not actioned. I then received a text the next day saying I had a package and it was the flowers already wilted when my sister instructed to unbox and display, it was all a little disappointing.

Beautiful design of the hotel and thoughtful amenities. 1) They don't have a gym but they gave me free passes to go to an amazing gym down the street (Capital Hill Fitness 8mins by car) which was far better than a standard gym. 2) The restaurant is amazing here. One of our favorites in Austin. The coffee shop is also wonderful. 3) Very cute gift shop at the front and the front desk workers are so helpful and kind. 4) the environment is very calming and aesthetically pleasing.
1) no water bottles in the entire hotel for free or for purchase. Nothing. There was filtered water dispensed at the front but it was frequently empty and difficult to fill an entire water bottle with. They have a mini bar for purchase in the room but no water bottles in there. 2) The beds are kind of hard. Everyone that we were traveling with agreed. Several woke up with some shoulder pain. Even a pillow top cover would serve them well.

I loved the hotel layout, open air hallways, coffee shop and lounge/work areas. It was clean, beautiful and serene. The location was perfect. The pool relaxing. The tile in the bathroom was clean and beautiful. I liked having a balcony.
The bed wasn’t comfortable nor was it uncomfortable. It was right in between. For the price of the stay, I’d expect a more cozy bed. The pillows left a lot to be desired too. I know this is subjective so I’ll try to explain: The bed was firm (not too firm) but didn’t have a cozy/comfortable feel to it and the pillows had no substance to them. They were very flat and lifeless. I had to ball one up to try to create a decent amount of fluff under my head. My room was above a dog boarding facility and my neighbors barked a lot but They were quiet at night.

Beautiful and relaxing hotel in South central Austin. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating, they go above and beyond to make the guests feel comfortable. The food is great too (both cafe and restaurant) even if a little expensive. The pool area is well maintained and the trees give a nice feel to it. The room was comfortable and simply but nicely decorated. I felt very safe staying there as a solo traveler and would highly recommend this hotel.
The food was great but maybe a little expensive. I would also have appreciated a few basic things in the room such as a tissue box, complementary bottles of water, slippers, etc. It might be a small detail, but usually hotels at this price tag do offer these things. Overall my stay was great though.

Minimalist, modern, and warm. This property exceeded our expectations, especially at such a great price point. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Austin. A short drive from downtown, a quick walk to South Congress, the location is great. The property has a certain charm to it with very intentional details that brighten your stay. The restaurant & coffee shop are wonderful. The pool is so relaxing (minus kids being obnoxious). Lovely stay.
We requested a room cleaning after two days and the cleaning staff did nothing but make the bed. No effort to tidy up and wipe down surfaces. Kids were obnoxious and loud in the pool, they were splashing guests, it was disruptive to many guests. Staff should limit non-guests using the proper for this reason, as there was no respect for the tranquility of the space.

This is my second stay at the Carpenter Hotel and even though it was more expensive than other properties, I chose to stay here again because the staff is awesome, the coffee shop/bar is excellent, the design if unusual, clean and appealing and the neighborhood is perfect for staying in a quiet part of town that is a short and beautiful 15 minute walk over or along the river to restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. I will be back!
We booked the hotel during a busy time so the price was quite high. I love the hotel so much I booked it anyway.

Well located, quiet, interesting layout and architecture, view of pecan tree tops from balcony, very clean and comfortable.
$25 “amenity” fee not disclosed in advertised price; parking garage $35 (but there was street parking available); no coffee in room; a little too pretentiously artisanly-hip for my taste, but to each their own. It was cold, lovely outdoor areas would have been much more fun in summer.
