Beautiful and relaxing hotel in South central Austin. The staff is very friendly, helpful and accommodating, they go above and beyond to make the guests feel comfortable. The food is great too (both cafe and restaurant) even if a little expensive. The pool area is well maintained and the trees give a nice feel to it. The room was comfortable and simply but nicely decorated. I felt very safe staying there as a solo traveler and would highly recommend this hotel.
The food was great but maybe a little expensive. I would also have appreciated a few basic things in the room such as a tissue box, complementary bottles of water, slippers, etc. It might be a small detail, but usually hotels at this price tag do offer these things. Overall my stay was great though.

Minimalist, modern, and warm. This property exceeded our expectations, especially at such a great price point. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Austin. A short drive from downtown, a quick walk to South Congress, the location is great. The property has a certain charm to it with very intentional details that brighten your stay. The restaurant & coffee shop are wonderful. The pool is so relaxing (minus kids being obnoxious). Lovely stay.
We requested a room cleaning after two days and the cleaning staff did nothing but make the bed. No effort to tidy up and wipe down surfaces. Kids were obnoxious and loud in the pool, they were splashing guests, it was disruptive to many guests. Staff should limit non-guests using the proper for this reason, as there was no respect for the tranquility of the space.

The location of the Carpenter Hotel is within walking distance of Zach Theatre, P. Terry's Burgers, Starbuck's, Peter Pan Miniature Golf, and Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail: There's a LOT to do in the neighborhood! The onsite restaurant, Carpenters Hall, was delicious, locally-sourced innovative Texas fare. The covered patio between it and the lovely pool provided a welcome shaded, greed oasis on a 100+ F September afternoon. The open-air, breezeways festooned by ceiling fans between rooms was an innovative, eco-friendly design that more hotels should consider using. The outdoor shaded stairwell made using the stairs between floors a healthy, elevator-neglecting temptation. Whether you're looking to explore the South Austin District or hole up at a friendly, unique local hotel for a weekend of romance, the Carpenter Hotel will deliver hospitable service in a casual yet elevated way.
On-site parking is limited although nearby paid public parking (uncovered and garaged) within a block or two of the hotel exists. Plan accordingly. Festival dates will make parking in the area more constrained.

I love this place. The people/staff are so nice and welcoming. The rooms are very comfortable and adequately supplied. I ate/drank at the restaurant a few times and everything was fresh, well prepared, and delicious. The cocktails were yummy as well. I went for a walk on the trails around the lake. The trailheads are two blocks from the hotel, very close and convenient.
I have no complaints. Everything was fine.

the location is top. i loved the coffee shop downstairs, if you do a workation it’s perfect be cause you can take a couple of calls or check emails there. the design of the property is so unique, doesn’t feel like a hotel at all. more like an airbnb.
the only downside was the smoking. it seemed like everyone was smoking on their balconies and the smell traveled to my room and made it unbearable. it would happened every night before I hit the bed. at some point it felt like it was coming from the AC above the bed. I’d def recommend adding a designated area for it instead of allowing it at balconies.

It was such a cool spot right by a lot of fun restaurants and attractions. The actual hotel had a cool 70s feel to it and felt retro and homey. The staff was friendly and we loved having the restaurant and cafe in the hotel. The pool was great for a morning or dusk swim.
The mattress was pretty uncomfortable unfortunately and it was hard to get a good nights rest. there was a lot of noise at night from dogs barking and from other guests in the hotel.

Breakfast was great, coffee room and and evening bar was great! Liked the pleasantly warm weather if one can call that an amenity!
Ventilation fans inside ceiling of room came pn every hour for fifteen or so minutes. Bearings were noisy and fan sounded like airplane on takeoff. Sleep was hard to comeby. Complaint was made at desk, but maintenance staff never resolved. Room 305. Very bad and sleep in room will require a concerted repair effort!

Great overall feel to the property. I loved the natural light, the decor and setup of the hotel. comfy bed and nice shower. It was also in a great location if you want to visit Barton Springs, Downtown Austin and SoCo, it’s very easy to access all of them by short drive or walk depending how far you like walking for.
I didn’t know there was a parking fee. All the reviews I read said there wasn’t but their lot is $35 a night unless you can find meter parking which is cheaper but you have to keep feeding the meter until midnight-8 am when it’s free. No coffee machine in room was a bit disappointing too had to get dressed in the morning to go down to the lobby coffee shop instead of being able to enjoy my coffee when I first work up. The coffee in the shop was great but convenience is everything sometimes.

the overall vibe was so relaxing and satisfying. the room was almost perfect; especially the surprise upgrade, the toiletries smelled divine and left my skin soft, the aesthetics were so welcoming. as for the lobby, the lady bird , the vinyl collection was so fun. It has beautiful landscaping.
the restaurant not being open for breakfast. the coffee bar didn’t even have a good selection of pastries. the overly priced menu items and coffees. the amenities as well were priced too high. even the robes at the ritz Carlton weren’t $127 the last i checked. the pool closing at 9 pm is too early for vacationers

The overall style is so unique snd welcoming. the food delicious and atmosphere inviting. I love all the attention to details throughout the property.
The pool was supposed to be heated at 80 degrees, but it wasn’t and was disappointing for my family members who wanted to swim. The food is delicious but overpriced. Overall, the stay was a bit expensive but I still loved the hotel. I definitely like access to coffee in my room. It isn’t ideal to wait in a 15 minute line for coffee in your pajamas in the lobby.
