Location Location Location - stunning views of Gjirokaster Castle from the room. Mountain views from outdoor breakfast seating. Super convient to wander around town, tricky to access hotel if you're driving but the parking is rather convenient.

The first night music from one of the local pubs was really loud and the kids had a hard time falling asleep, this went on till midnight. The second night was a lot better. Staff was rude when we reported the issue, we asked for a fan to generate white noise, they cut off my husband and hung up abruptly. This is a slighly older property, could do with some sprucing up.

What a fabulous hotel: beautiful outside and inside; the rooms were beautifully decorated, the beds mega comfortable, We had one of best view in our whole stay in Albania: who can have a bath with a view on an illuminated castle! Stunning. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful; we booked the junior room the first night but it was noisy as on the first floor right above some bars; so the second night we were moved to another which was super quiet with outstanding views. Breakfast was really good. A shame it was raining as we coudlnt enjoy having breakfast on the great terrasse. But as everything is beautiful as soon as you walk outside, it wasnt such a big deal. Their restaurant is delicious too.

Nothing. Just watch out to access it by car. Rather steep and bumpy narrow rod towards the top. We had a large 4X4 and it was fine - you just dont want to meet any car coming the other way so take your time. just ask for the direction from the hotel; its very easy. Good parking next to the hotel .

The location was fantastic! Very central to all the key sites in Gjirokastër. The roof terrace was lovely with a perfect view of the castle. Our room was comfortable and spacious and the breakfast was nice. The hotel also provided really useful directions from the main road which made finding the property easy (Google maps didn’t seem to cope well in the city streets!) and there was good parking.

The staff could have been a little more attentive. When we walked into the breakfast room at 08:45 past 3 members of staff in reception we were confused as it didn’t look like breakfast was being served. We then walked out (again past the staff) in search of some breakfast - only to come back 20 minutes later to see breakfast then being served!

We recently stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel and had an exceptional experience. Located right in the middle of the city, it offered the perfect base for exploring the local attractions. The rooms were spacious, providing a comfortable and luxurious stay. The food was remarkable – authentic, delicious, and served by a waiter with a great sense of humor, adding to the overall delightful experience. What truly stood out was the staff – they were amazing, friendly, and incredibly helpful, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels we've stayed at during our journey, and we believe it truly deserves 4 stars. Highly recommended!

Hotel Kalemi is a gorgeous, restored Ottoman house in the historic part of Gjirokastra. We had two rooms next to each other, one for my husband and me, the other for our adult daughter. The rooms were large and well appointed with comfortable beds and windows with views of the castle. Our room had a long window seat. Breakfast was on the terrace on the 3rd floor.

Getting there was hair-raising. The hotel is in the old part of Gjirokastra, requiring driving up steep, narrow, cobblestone streets. The usual way to get this was blocked due to construction and the road to get there was frankly scary to drive up and down. You'll want a small(ish) car with manual transmission!

I booked a room with a balcony, which was really worth it, giving me excellent views both over the town and up to the castle.

There was some confusion when I checked out that I thought could have been handled better. When I went to pay, the person at the desk accidentally typed in the value wrong. That's fine, mistakes happen and I pointed it out, but she then thought I was arguing about the price and reacted accordingly. I was just trying to be helpful as the mistake left off a zero and would have meant I only paid 1/10 of the price of the room!

In a good location central in the old town. Dedicated parking for the hotel. Close to a range of good restaurants and the key attractions. A good breakfast served fresh. Nice balcony looking across to the castle.

The room was advertised as having tea and coffee making facilities. It had a kettle, but no cups, tea or coffee. Tea and cups were supplied when asked for but removed the next day, so we had to ask again. No coffee was supplied. Our room was dark. The only natural light was from the door to the balcony.

Situated in the heart of the historic old town, the hotel reflects the charm of the old town, featuring period-appropriate decor, vintage furnishings, and exposed stone walls. The staff with welcoming nature and personalized service, ensuring that every guest feels at home. The restaurant features a menu inspired by traditional recipes, served in a setting that evokes the elegance of a bygone era.

Lovely room and gorgeous view of the castle, right near the heart of the bazaar/old town. This also meant some late night bar music (until 11:15) but we didn’t mind. The generous breakfast, comfortable bed, and friendly staff were all positives!

Not a negative- just a beware- definitely follow the landmarks shared by hotel staff for accessing the hotel. Otherwise you could end up streets impossible to navigate. Trust me 🙃

This is a luxurious lo family hotel ran by experienced hoteliers. Mr. Kalemi and family were there to make sure everything was perfect and guests felt special. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our room within a magnificent stone historic building. They explained to us that it had once been a mansion belonging to a well-off family. The room had elaborate woodwork in the ceiling and in the embedded armoire made by local artisans. From our room we had magnificent ever-changing views of the castle above, depending on the weather and the time of day. It was magical. The hotel has private parking for guests. Breakfast was included and can be enjoyed indoors or at different outdoor locations, including a roof terrace overseeing the entire town. We had to pinch ourselves. The hotel is in the middle of everything, within a three minute walk to the heart of Gjirokaster which is what they call the Bazaar filled with shops, cafés, tavernas, etc. The facilities were top notch, from the hot water, bathroom, bedding, air conditioning. We slept and ate like royalty.

This is just a heads up regarding reaching the property: The stone road to the hotel is steep and narrow. Make sure to have good tires and a powerful engine. We would return in a heartbeat!
