A True Gem in Gjirokastër – Exceptional Care and Service Our recent stay at Hotel Kodra was nothing short of extraordinary. Upon our arrival, our daughter was unfortunately feeling unwell. The care and attention the staff provided were beyond anything we could have expected. They went out of their way to ensure she was comfortable, even taking the time to prepare a special broccoli soup just for her. This level of compassion and service is rare to find, and it made a world of difference to us during our stay. We’ve stayed at several hotels in Gjirokastër, but Hotel Kodra stands out by far. The staff consistently amaze us with their warmth, attentiveness, and willingness to go the extra mile. From the beautiful surroundings to the impeccable service, everything about this hotel is top-notch. We wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Kodra to anyone visiting Gjirokastër. It’s not just a place to stay; it’s a place where you’re truly cared for.

The staff are a gem - especially the older gentleman who works at the restaurant! He was darling and very helpful and made us feel very welcome and had great wine recommendations. When we got lost on the way to the hotel due to some road construction, one of the hotel staff members actually drove down to find us with his motorcycle and led us in our car to the hotel himself - which was so kind! We also had a nice staff member help us with our luggage which we really appreciated. The hotel is perched on a beautiful outcropping of cliff and the views are astounding. They have decorated nicely with lovely classic wooden furniture and beautiful ceilings. The rooms are very spacious. The location is great - you can walk right into the area of town with the shops, and easily to the castle and the Cold War bunker and the other fun locations. The restaurant has a great selection of Albanian wine! I found the food a bit heavy but it was very good and I think that is traditional Albanian food.

This is silly but I was hoping they might have incorporated more traditional Albanian textiles into the room, since they are so lovely, and I think they were in one of the photos.

Amazing location - the room was nice and bed very comfy. Had lunch, breakfast and drinks on the terrace - the food was fantastic and the view was breathtaking. So pleased we stayed there and would definitely recommend.

Nothing. Tip - use their carpark don't leave your car on the road. We left car at bottom of hill and walked up - came back to a parking ticket.

Beautiful view from the hotel with a comfortable and quiet room. I loved the hard wood furniture and decor and the overall warm and unique ambiance that captured the vibe of Gjirokaster as a whole. Perfect location right by the Bazaar

Only issue is the parking lot and the entrance. It was quite difficult to figure out. Challenging to drive the car up the main hill, then a very strange walk around the building, up some back stairs, then in through a back door. I had to ask for help!

The Hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Gjirokaster. The historic city center is only a few steps away. The location of the hotel is simply stunning and allows an excellent view over Gjirokaster. The hotel-staff is extremely friendly and helped me even with a little problem with my car. Breakfast was excellent and was much more than a single person could eat. This was the best hotel I had during my week touring around Albania! Highly recommended!

It stated in the description that there was an ATM on site (we needed to draw out cash in Albania) but this was not the case. Not sure if this was a mistake in the online description. Otherwise everything superb

Nice hotel with great views and ideal location in the old town below the castle.

Average breakfast. Conversely, we had dinner at the hotel which was very enjoyable. We had problems getting to and from the hotel. It was impossible to get reliable information about the bus schedule for the next leg of our travels, and we ended up being dropped in the middle of nowhere by a taxi driver who could speak no English, to catch a bus en route from tirana to sarande. The hotel staff proved incapable of helping us with this.

The staff was super helpful and attentive to all our needs. The breakfast was delicious! The view from our room was 10/10 amazing. Absolutely I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. You are right in the heart of old town Gjirokastër :)

Nothing I didn’t like.

The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. They came to get us when we arrived and were lost in the narrow streets of Gjirokaster and immediately welcomed us with juice and water. They suggested things to do (open cinema, festival for kids, concert…) and were utmost professional and kind. The location could not be better - in the heart of the old city with the bazaar at your doorstep. We fell in love with the views from the restaurant and the huge open bar. Cocktails were great too, and half the price of elsewhere in Europe. The suite was the most charming room(s) we have ever stayed in. It comes with a fireplace and netflix. And showers have proper doors that close well (not evident elsewhere in Albania).

Everything was beyond expectations.

Location was great, and the parking was ample. However it was quite awkward to get to— google maps did not adequately describe the steepness and narrowness of the (cobblestone) roads, and in addition roadworks made it awkward. However, the staff was very helpful and in the end the location was worth the trouble.
