The ultimate staff team, and the one stop shop for all Buenos Aires needs. Really want to stress how great the team are and how they made our stay really enjoyable. This felt like a proper hostel with a great hostel spirit. I can see why it has had such past accolades. Their events are also fun and inventive. Also its location in San Telmo is great.
Kitchen equipment was well past its use-by date, definitely needs new pots and pans, as well as something to make our own coffee with (basic plastic coffee filter holder, cafetière or aeropress). Also the rooms were slightly dated and worn in but nothing really to stress about.

They suddenly didn't accept payment in Argentine pesos (or said if I pay in cash in pesos, the price is double - according to the rate of the dollar). They claimed that this is the normal procedure in Argentina/Buenos Aires, but as I have been travelling in Argentina now for 6 weeks it definitely isn't true, I also have been to two other hostels in Buenos Aires after this one which accepted payment in Argentine pesos normally. If payment in local currency is not accepted according to the normal rate (given by booking.com), that should be emphasized while making the booking. I ended up paying a hotel price from a hostel, which annoyed me quite a lot.

The staff were super friendly and helpful. I arrived early in the morning and they got me all settled. I appreciated that they helped with currency and a claro phone chip. They were so nice and joyous! I was able to catch the day’s walking tour from the hostel to La Boca. Please tip Lucia, she is wonderful and attentive. She was nice enough to take me to Plaza de Mayo after La Boca, so I would not get lost. The location is good, just be careful at night. But very centric and walking distance from the San Telmo market.
I think the rooms are a bit outdated, probably not fully as shown on the pictures.

This hostel was one of my best hostels in South America. The staff is very friedly and helps you out everytime. Backpackers are welcome as kind of friends rather than tourists. Special thanks to Roman ;) The hostel is very clean and well located since San Telmo is close to the city center or La Boca. They offer free guided tours for the people who are staying at the hostel and inform you every day via Whatsapp about what's going on in Buenos Aires or they give advices. Furthermore I also enjoyed the good breakfast.
Nothing at all.

A rare opcion available at this hostel is the optional cooked buffet breakfast (at a very reasonable price.) - hardly ever available in South America in budget accommodation for all those American, English Australian and other English speaking travellers who like cooked eggs for breakfast. Aldo delicious cake as well as the usual cheese, jam etc but no wholemeal bread. Note buffet breakfast is prepared in a separate kitchen so normal hostel kitchen is available for those wanting to
Prices of accommodation are a bit confusing on the Booking web site as prices are converted into US$dollars but when paying the blue rate charged resulting in a higher price in pesos than is shown on the Booking web site

The hostel is in a great location for walking around Buenos Aires. There is a garden area to enjoy a drink and a cigarette. The hostel was always clean and comfortable The staff were helpful and friendly
To activate the electricity in the room you need to insert your key card, this isn't such an issue in a private room but in a shared room it causes issues when the person whose card is in the slot leaves and someone else has to get up to put their card in or be without electricity. The beds could do with privacy curtains

The hostel was really sociable- the staff organised multiple events everyday which were easy to take part in. It was also really easy to do your own thing if you didn’t fancy it. People genuinely used the communal areas so you could easily meet other people. They also cleaned rooms everyday and provided towels and toiletries if you book a private room.
Parts of the hostel could do with a bit of a refresh, but this is very minor.

Beds were very comfy with lights and plugs. Everything is clean. Rooms facing the inner atrium (not street facing) are quiet. Good security with front door and room keys. They have tours and activities everyday at the hostel. Located very central to San Telmo and easy walking distance to all the sites in this area. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Showers were very small. I had an issue which I alerted the morning shift staff to. They were amazing with their support but when I returned later and asked the evening staff, they didn’t know anything about it. So just a better hand over could have been given between shifts.

Staff were friendly and offered advise. We stayed in a private room with shower which was fine. There are walking tours run from the hostel to explore local areas of Buenos Aires which are excellent. Good external security with double gate entry system controlled by 24/7 reception.
We made the mistake of booking wrong dates in March rather than intended February. Hostel was good enough to change dates. Only downside was we ended up paying USD 50 more than advertised Feb stay dates. Would have been appreciated if we had been refunded the USD 50 Feb overpayment although they were in no way obliged to do so. None the less an excellent stay.

I enjoyed my stay here in 2019 so much I came back again for a second stay. AdS Hostel has a wide variety of guests (of ages and origin) which I enjoy. The staff is helpful and friendly, and breakfast is adequate for the price. Some good restaurants in the neighborhood.
Single Room rate is significantly higher. I am aware we have worldwide inflation and the Peso is crazy, but the rate went up a lot. (I paid almost the same price for 4 nights as I paid for two weeks previously).
