The location was secluded from the hustle and bustle of Byron Bay. The architecture of the villas and gardens was interesting. Large bathtub in the villa was nice and private hot tub outside was wonderful. Easy access to the beach but we enjoyed spending time on the property with our 2yo daughter. She loved the fish in the pond, the bush turkey wandering around the garden, and the kookaburras singing at sunset.

It was a bit chilly at night, but there is a heater in each bedroom or reverse cycle airconditioning. The stairs down to the beach could use a second handrail.

An exclusive spot on the beach at Byron, what more could you ask for!? The steam room and sauna were great, the room (we stayed in the Shanti villa) was more than adequate (we didn't spend much time in the villa) it had a fully stocked kitchen and a few modern conveniences such as big screen, google home for music, A/C, nice furniture etc. But it's all about the location and the grounds which are Balinese themed and wonderfully kept. The only villa with a view to the beach is the Samadhi, which has without a doubt the best location and facilites on the property. We will definitely be back!

I understand the reviews suggesting the facilities could do with an update. The hot tub is older and invariably there is sand everywhere but they do a great job of maintaining it within standards and it was very clean when we got there. It's not a cheap nightly rate and for the money you're not getting what I would suggest as 'luxury' but rather tranquility and exclusivity perhaps? We just loved it.

the location was brilliant. Staff were fabulous. The place needs a bit of maintenance. The T.V down stairs had no reception, some of the lights didn't work. The decking out the front needs a bit of attention. This did not in any way hamper our stay. It is a fabulous place to kick back and relax. Loved the fact that the tide came right up to the steps of the property. Hearing the ocean at night (especially) was sooo soothing.

Bit more maintenance but otherwise everything was great.

whatever you need for a comfortable stay, everything was provided for in the house which is surrounded by the most beautiful rainforest and gardens

it’s very remote and far away from town. The house has no own outdoor seating, the bathrooms and toilet are not lockable and don’t give you much privacy due to open ceiling and translucent doors. The main aircon in the living room displayed an error code and was not working.

Peaceful atmosphere and nestled in the trees. Wonderful private beachfront location. Accommodation comfortable and cosy. Mia the host was great.

Some of property bit dated and needs maintenance and upper toilets pokey for tall people however overall excellent and value for money.

The view of the beach and the access to the beach was spectacular! When we were back at our room, we felt like we were in our own small rainforest! The incense burning outside made for such a tranquil, inviting entrance!

Nothing really! When we needed something we sent a text/email and staff replied in a timely manner! The hot tub outside might need a bit of cleaning, but it was still nice!

It is a little run down. Has a distinct “Bali” feel which is lovely, but perhaps not $1000 a night value. Also, for this price, which I would consider “luxury”, it felt a little strange to be asked to put a dishwashing tab in before leaving and clean all crockery. If it was more of a group budget accomodation, that would be absolutely appropriate. Wasn’t sure that it was really “in the middle of the rainforest”, which is what we were hoping for. These thoughts aside, we had a lovely, relaxing stay.

Fabulous. On the beach and quiet

Sauna didn't work. Staff wasn't keen to clean the deck. No service to freshen up the room in my 3 night stay. Cockroach running around. When I phoned to get some assistance, no one picked up or called me back.

This is the second time we've stayed here for our wedding anniversary, we love Shambhala! Would highly recommend anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful beachfront retreat, a serene place close enough to the hub but still has privacy. The property is beautifully designed and gives you a feeling of tranquility from the moment you arrive. The staff are always warm and welcoming and the little extra touches they added made our anniversary even more amazing. Until next time Shambala.

The location of this property is just breath taking, it truly is such a unique property with the beautiful Belongil Beach literally at your doorstep. The amenities are amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to assist us during a difficult time with the flooding in the area. The service and facilities are absolutely fantastic.

I cannot fault anything about this property.
