Friendly and helpful staff. On-site parking. Walking distance to beach and local shops. No road noise, at least at rear of property. VERY comfortable beds (we had singles) with lovely fresh linen and comfortable pillows. On-site laundry facilities (pay to use). Ours was a good-sized room. Easy to move around it, with a small table and two chairs. Kettle, two mugs, tea bags and instant coffee. Small milk in fridge. Microwave.

Smelt dank inside - like there was moisture. Bathroom sink dirty, mold in shower and lots of dust on top of tiles - needed a good clean. Not what I would consider a real kichenette. No cookware, crockery etc. Had to wash mugs in bathroom sink.

The location of the accommodation was spot on. Just a few minutes from the centre with a large selection of shops, cafes, restaurants, gelato parlours and the main beach. The motel pool was lovely and warm and it was a bonus that you could borrow pool towels and other equipment from reception (body boards, parasols etc). The room was very spacious and catered for our needs. Emma on reception was friendly and courteous. The pool is a lot smaller than advertised on the photo but it was still a great sized pool and the water was really clear and very warm.

Whilst the motel was great, the rooms looked a little tired and could probably do with a little upkeep. You could only lock the netted sliding door and not the main door so it didn’t feel very secure but that might have just been on our room. The weather wasn’t great when we visited and rained everyday, obviously not the fault of the motel but was a bonus as we could still swim in the pool.

The location was excellent. It was an easy walk into town. The site has direct access to the beach, via the rear boundary. The hot water in the shower is fabulous and the water pressure is excellent (I was in a Level 1 room). The beds are comfortable. The internet is fairly consistent. The room size is generous. There is car parking on site.

The rooms have brick walls, and there does not seem to be acoustic separation between neighbouring rooms. The rooms are retro, and have had at least one mini makeover since they were first built, but for the room price they are ready for another refurbishment. The fridge froze my drinks.

Not the properties fault but 2 smokers staying in the middle of 2 non smokers was a bit difficult. Smoking facilities are out the front of each room so you can smoke, but just being conscious smoking guest didn’t feel like we could at our pleasure

This motel is great value. Another guest told us it was better value than the local youth hostel. It is only 10 minutes walk from the town centre so you can leave your car and as a bonus avoid parking meter charges. The beach can be reached via a path at the rear of the motel. Anywhere else this close to the action is way more expensive. We have stayed here several times. The room is spacious.

Steps to first floor level are not undercover so care is needed when using them, particularly on rare occasions when the weather is not perfect.

Great location very close to town centre and 2 mins from the beach - easy to find and easy parking. Room clean and tidy and staff very helpful.

The only downside was the room didn't have a hob (to cook simple pasta meals for our child) , but that's most probably down to me not reading the facilities when booking - we'd got so used to apartments in Australia having mini kitchenettes, it caught us out, but that didn't detract from the stay as there's plenty of decent eateries nearby.

The location is excellent, only 5 min walk to the main strip. Bed is comfortable, basic amenities (shower gels, coffee, tea, milk, microwave, kettle) and spacious rooms. The property is older but made of brick, so can’t hear guests in other rooms, only outside noise - even then it was still quiet. The rooms are clean and tidy. Would stay here again for a weekend getaway.

Property is a bit dated and bathroom does need a deep clean.

We actually got to this hotel quite late so didn't get to speak to staff (they had left the key out for us) - the location was fine - as we were on a stopover and planned on heading off early, we didn't get the chance to explore around the hotel as we drove to Cape Byron. The room was OK, clean and had everything that we needed.

No view, felt a bit budget - which in fairness it was, we hadn't paid for 5 star.

The location was perfect with less than a 10 minute walk into Byron Bay centre and Main Beach. Private beach access was a big plus, as was having a nice pool and BBQ facilities. The property is a bit older but very well maintained. Adequate free parking was a bonus. We would certainly consider staying at Wollongbar Motel, should we go to Byron Bay again.

Free wifi connection was a bit iffy for us.

Everything was clean and comfy. The location was perfect for a family. Close enough to easily walk to where we wanted to go, but far enough to not hear the bar party noise. We had a terrific sleep every night. The walk out the back gate to the beach was very convenient. I would rate this as the perfect family stay!

The nearest beach was the dog beach, which we loved visiting with the dogs, but there seems to be a culture of people not picking up their dog's poop. Out of 20 people, only 1 actually picked up after their dog. There is even a free supply of doogie bags at the main beach entrance. This is all beyond the control of the hotel, and you could walk 3 minutes further to avoid the dog zone if you wanted to.
