It’s in a very central position with a few shops on site for coffee snacks and basic grocery needs. Also has a liquor store on site which was handy. Room was large and comfortable with separate bedroom. Great aspect as the rooms are north /south facing with the front patio facing the north which means you don’t have an issue with the hot western sun. Although our stay was in February which is summer in Australia the patio would be perfectly positioned to capture any sun in winter during the day. Very good idea to have a large garbage bin in the room as I hate those tiny bins you normally get in hotel rooms. It is a 5-10 min walk to Roche estate. Right next door(1-2 min walk) is a distillery,Blaxland inn and Lisa mcguigans wines for tasting. Just directly opposite is Hope stat which is a great brewery and wine cellar with great views. If you like the idea of waking up and seeing kangaroos around you this place is a good option. Especially in the cooler weather I suspect. Wine country taxis Cessnock provide a good taxi service if needed. The town of Cessnock is a 10 min drive and has all the major retail and grocery stores if needed. I didn’t take any photos of the room however I’ve added a few of hot air balloons landing next to the property which are the only photos I had.

Don’t expect ultra modern hotel rooms. These are more cabin style accommodation built with timber. Although carpeted the floor is of timber construction so does make a noise when walked on. Bathroom was quite small.

We absolutely loved our stay at Pokolbin Village Estate. The Retreat is the ultimate for Large Families, with plenty of room for all members of the family to enjoy. The pool table and arcade game was a wonderful surprise and enjoyed by all. The Estate facilities such as Tennis Courts, swimming pools, Petting Farm as well as cafe, Chocolate & Cheese shops meant there was always something for every member of the family to enjoy without leaving the Estate. The location is fantastic, with short walks or drive to a range of Wineries and Attractions. We highly recommend Pokolbin Village Estate and The Retreat.

The location is good for enjoying services of Pokolbin. Within 30 min walking there are several wineries, restaurants, etc. The kitchen was very good for self-catering and there was more than 2 pieces of plates, cups, etc. available. Our visit was in winter time, the Hunter Valley is North enough so that the afternoon sun (if available) is warm enough to lay in the poolside sunbeds. However, the temperature of the pool water was a little bit chilly. I tried it multiple times, but one try was enough for my wife.

The unit was called "one bedroom villa" and we expected a separate house with one bedroom. The reality was a house with the "one bedroom villa" in the middle and two studios, one in both side of the "villa". So the privacy was not as advertised

Location was perfect, quiet and relaxing. It was great having a small grocery store, cafe(super coffee and toasties) wine and beer store within Pokolbin Village Estates. The EXP Restaurant is also located here but was closed during our stay. Walking distance to several wineries, Hope Estate Winery(wine, beer and gin tasting)Vamp by Lisa McGuigan and others and of course kangaroos!

Disappointed that WIFI was not available except in Reception. This was somewhat inconvenient for us from overseas.

I think we had the place to ourselves for the 2 early week days we were there. It was so peaceful. Having breakfast listening to the bird song and watching the Kangaroos was amazing Modern bathrooms and kitchen Used the pool and laundry facilities.

Our only negative was that the lights going to the laundry and coming back didn't work. There was a rechargeable torch in the kitchen but it didn't work. Luckily we brought a torch with us from the UK so we managed

Great location with a few vineyards within walking distance. Large room with good facilities (fridge, kettle etc) large shower. Saw wild Kangaroos nearby! Sadly restaurant not open mid week. Good coffee shop onsite but only open in the mornings.

WiFi weak and kept dropping out. Description says restaurant on site but doesn't say only open weekends. We stayed Mon to Thurs so had to walk 10 minutes to one nearby, wouldn't have been a problem except it was pouring with rain 😞

Very good location in Pokolbin. Rooms located away from main road so not a lot of traffic noise. Very clean room, very comfortable bed, good supply of toiletries and snacks, including biscuits, TV and air con worked. Pool and outdoor B-B-Q on site although we did not use.

No TV guide in room or on the TV, and no phone in the room to ring reception for guidance. Had no wi-fi as no guidance given by reception on booking-in as to these issues or log-in codes etc. On checking out found that you have to have a smart phone to scan a code to overcome our problems. This could have been explained at check-in and some alternative provided for those guests who do not have the most up-to-date technology (there are still some people in the world in that category).

Very well appointed unit, with great shower and very comfy bed. The unit has a nice lounge area with a small fridge, kettle, a great selection of teas and coffee and a toaster and microwave. Also, very decent sized wine glasses and coffee mugs! There is a separate bedroom, bathroom and a small verandah. The location is great, as it’s within walking distance of some wineries, one of the gin distilleries and a very good restaurant next door. There is also a great cafe in the village open for breakfast and lunch, a general store and bottle shop

Amazing location! Close to all the vineyards and so peaceful even though it's just off the main road. A highlight was waking up to kangaroos just outside the bedroom window. The rooms are spacious and clean and the fridge/freezer was the perfect size. İt was that good that we wanted to extend our stay but it's a popular place and was fully booked the next night. Communication with staff in the leadup and after the trip was brilliant.

The only thing I would say is that we went midweek and the restaurants were shut but the Blaxland Arms was right next door and served delicious food. Also, we didn't realise that we could have gotten a discount in the shops while we were staying there as didn't read the small print on the card until we were checking out. Our fault for not reading it properly but it would have been helpful if we'd been told that when we checked in at Reception.

The location for cellar doors is excellent with many within walking distance. It was a quiet and comfortable. Close to affordable eating options. The staff we talked to were very approachable and friendly.

The bed was too susceptible to partners movement. There was no access to pay television options. Could not use USB in dated television. Very limited television station options. No clock in room, even on microwave no time display.
