We are a very new couple only in our first year of dating and this was the first trip we have ever done together The drive from Sydney was very scenic and beautiful how civilisation melts away Gf was amazed by the country setting she never experienced country living or being so far away from the city but she Loved the location felt like it was heaven in the middle of nowhere and the sunset was amazing she was blown away by the rustic country culture and how cute she found the shops Our son loved the tv & swimming pool he loved seeing the yaks & playing bored games and getting too be a kid again For us seeing him so happy and making friends with other kids and guests without a screen in his face was the highlight of the trip Me personally loved the place perfect for pictures in the morning and the local's was amazing definitely worth the money & definitely coming back

#1 as a driver one issue I had was finding the cut off road at night when arriving at the location limit visibility and no lights marking the entrance to the access road #2 Just a pet peeve nothing serious but I'm a huge coffee drinker and the Lack of supply's in the kitchen the sugar and coffee capsules and milk was very limited so for our next getaway I'll make sure to pack extras

Lovely quiet location only a few minutes' drive from Gulgong. Attractive buildings in a rural setting. The lockbox system for key access makes checking in and out very flexible and convenient. Very comfortable bed, I slept well. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and the kitchen well fitted out. The freezer actually froze things - very unusual in accommodation! The shower was first-rate, plenty of hot water and pressure, and no flooding the bathroom floor like some places I have stayed. Despite the glass walls it was very private and the blockout blinds and bathroom curtains do their job. We didn't test out the swimming pool but it looked inviting. The room was immaculately clean.

The room was hot and stuffy when we arrived, and the windows cannot be opened. The air-conditioning eventually cooled it down, but it would have been a nice touch if it had already been running when we arrived. The bathroom dividing wall was only a partition, which means that smells and noises are not contained. This spoils the romantic atmosphere somewhat. Not enough power points in accessible positions. Finally, the outdoor furniture looks great but the chairs are all excruciatingly uncomfortable to sit on, which defeats the purpose.

Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Amazingly peaceful, even with guests staying in the other apartments. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, meeting the resident goats, stargazing at night... The perfect base to explore Mudgee and Gulgong, and escape from the city for a few days. I would definitely stay here again!

One of the BBQs didn't work (ignition switch broken) but there were two, so it didn't matter!

Stunning outlook from room. Wonderful location 10 mins drive from Gulgong. 10 yr old loved the pool, which was a generous size and depth with a great outlook and pool side lounge.

We were staying in a room that was located between a group that was traveling together. They kept taking short cuts across the verandah on both sides of our room which have full glass windows. The full length windows were wonderful to take in the view, not so great when other guests look into your room every time they pass.

I cannot fault Owl Head Lodge in any way, everything was perfect from the lodgings, cleanliness, views, pool, furnishings and even the kitchen knives were kept sharp. It was the little things that bring it up over the usual like washing powder, an emergency torch, weber bbqs, DVDs friendly goats etc. We stayed here partially for the access to the Great Western Cycleroute and were not disappointed by having cute country dirt lanes right on the doorstep. Will be back many times.

Best place I have stayed in the mudgee area. Lovely location, everything you could ever need inside. They seem to care that you enjoy your stay and the hospitality is amazing. Beds and linen so comfy. 10/10. My kids loved it too! Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Gulgong is a nice town as well and bigger than you might think.

Close to Gulgong but boasting a real ‘out of the way’ feel, Owl Head Lodge offers wonderful countryside views in a relaxed setting. Contactless check-in. Will definitely look to stay there again when in the region.

Nothing comes to mind. We were the only guests so the tranquility may have been lessened with guests in the other apartments.

I liked the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere but close to town. I loved the balcony with uninterrupted views of the countryside. This property would be perfect for large groups to rent out all the rooms/cabins/house and it would work really well for this. The pool was a nice addition but its position in front of the main rental house made it a little awkward as I felt a little bit like I was in their space but this didn't detract from the stay at all.

What a superb place. The Glasshouse (5) is exceptional. Glass walls giving fantastic views across the valley to the hills taking in grazing sheep, vineyards and wooded hillsides with the light playing across it all day. Everything you want and them some more you didn't know you needed. Thick fluffy robes perfect for after the bath soak or rain shower while watching the sun rise or set across the valley. (Curtains if you need the privacy). Walk in robe and huge pantry if you are staying longer. Two lounge areas to watch the double sided fireplace and fully stocked kitchen, bathroom and laundry. Outdoor lounges and dining tables on both sides for sun or shade. In summer the pool and BBQ area would be lovely, but we stayed beside the fire.

Absolutely nothing

Waking up and looking at the beautiful vista from bed. The bed was super comfy and the accommodation spotlessly clean. We did not want for anything. Rob even picked up a take away order, for our group, from the Thai in Gulgong. what more could you ask for! I have no hesitation in recommending Owl Head Lodge for those wanting comfort, quietness, a beautiful setting and wonderful hosts
