Hotel Nelson - block from wharf and shopping/restaurant precinct. Room is modern decor, comfy bed and view to wharf. Complimentary 2 bottles of Byron Bay Beer, packet of chips and a bag to use for our shopping around town - Wow, great idea! Breakfast - available at coffee shop on ground floor. Busy Cafe, good coffee, yummy food and good service. Used the gym, weights, weight machine, treadmill - all in reasonable condition. We were able to do a good workout. Didn't swim in the pool, but it looked inviting. Good off-street parking.

Lift is very slow and stuffy, probably because it's mostly glass and it was a warm day. Stairs are an alternative.

Pool was heated thus kids swam anytime they wanted including in rain, and pool area is great and steam room was a bit of fun for the kids - beats crown terrigal and nearly as good as ramada shoal bay They upgraded my family booking and gave us 11 am checkout which was greatly appreciated and very helpful Nothing was a problem for the staff Room well resourced with microwave toaster kettle even electric frypan (which we did not need to use but handy to have) Room had two beds plus pull out sofa TV was biggest screen ive seen in a hotel which was great location super handy for cruises and eateries / supermarket

Pillows were a little to big and firm

This hotel is currently being renovated and the room we were in was very tastefully redecorated, and because it's an older motel the room was roomy they have double doors between the road and your bed so you don't hear much noise. They have a pub just a very short walk from them so it's easy to find your night meal and they had a very popular cafe attached to the motel. It's right in the middle of Nelson Bay while we didn't have views of the water it was only a minutes walk away. The parking is very convenient and easy to get to. We enjoyed our stay very much

We were not satisfied with the room. It was facing the street and the traffic noise was impossible. Also the sofa in the room was badly soiled. The receptionist on Monday morning went out of her way to change our room to a quieter, cleaner room. It was on the ground floor which was much easier for my partner. The pool area was lovely. It’s in a pretty central spot, walking to restaurants, pubs and cafes.

The lift is ridiculously slow and can only fit 2 people, just use the stairs, it’s much faster (even for the unfit)! The unit was dated even though you could see they had tried to rejuvenate it. The shower over spa bath, with no shower screen, wet the whole bathroom floor with no exhaust fan! My teenage son was using the sofa bed and when pulled out, it was made, but not recently! It was dusty and very uncomfortable! Parking is not suitable for large cars, you will need to park on the road or in the car park next door (which is metered between certain hours). I found this accommodation to be very overpriced and not value for money.

Location was brilliant, staff were excellent .room was clean and tidy. Nice double layered patio door to prevent outside noise. Heated pool was a nice touch too.. Would definitely visit again.

If I was being picky. I would say that shower head is very low. But I just bent my knees to wash my hair Again it's nothing major and didn't feel the need to complain as there are worse things in the world that a small shower. Everything was spotless and we were very happy

Location was excellent and easy short walk to Marina and Shops and Restaurants. The beds were very comfortable and luxurious. The walking trails across the road from the Hotel along the bench and cliffs was a highlight and just so stunning.

The room although was it was refurbished nicely for the price the bathroom was older style. We had just come from a brand-new refurbished room at Rydges in Port Macquarie with water views (so maybe we were a little spoilt).

I stayed on a Tuesday night and the room above me was booked. It seemed like a proper party happening of a bunch of blokes until about 10:30 so not horribly late but I had to have my TV in very loud to not hear and still A bit unsettling to have my room directly under. It is not the hotel staff fault but it could have been managed by them, I didn’t complain because it did stop by 11 and that was my timing to start complain but honestly it sounded like a large group of blokes in the room super drunk and so loud.

Central, could walk into the marina which was perfect with small children. Beautifully cafe connected which had great coffee and food. Rooms were a good size and very clean. Good size TV and cute little kitchenette facilities which is all you need for a short stay. The pool was really heated which was awesome for an April stay.

The beds dipped in the centre significantly. So we were rolling onto each other through the night and the pillows weren’t overly comfy.

Wonderful stay at the Hotel Nelson. Great location in the centre of town, very easy to walk around to the local amenities (cafes, supermarket and marina). Rooms were of a good size and clean with a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. A particularly big thank you to the lovely staff member I spoke to when I called about a ring that I had accidentally left behind in the room. If I recall correctly, her name was Sherri and she was so lovely to speak to and went above and beyond to get my ring back to me which was most appreciated.

Room was not made up during the stay even with the hanger on the door asking for housekeeping to do so. Other than that absolutely no complaints with the hotel and staff.
