Staff were really accommodating to all requests and went above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant stay. Great amenities including microwave and iron, for a really good price. Incredibly convenient location, close to buses and light rail.

It was a bit like going back in time, living in a large mansion like this, in a room with balcony overlooking a park and playground. Of course what must have once been an open house, is now compartmentalized into single rooms which feature a bathroom added into each like a giant shoebox with a door. The room was spacious, perhaps a bit dimly lit, and otherwise very comfortable and nicely furnished. Breakfast exists only across the road, but I found the quality and atmosphere in the 169 Cafe, about 2 minutes from the hotel, quite nice. Only fruit was really missing during my stay. There are quite a few restaurants (of average to good quality) within 10-15 minutes, and so is the UNSW campus. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Quiet room with balcony, one way street with police station on the corner. Opposite the park, plenty of free parking and close to shops and restaurants. Staff were very accommodating. Room was clean, bed freshly made and loads of pillow available for sitting up in bed to read. Fan worked well and kept the room cool. Would definitely stay again as so convenient to food, shops and the airport wasn’t too far away, but not close enough to hear it 😊. Overall a good travel experience.
The bed was comfy but maybe needed flipping as had a little bump in the middle, otherwise was comfortable. I am used to a pillow top mattress, but it was still ok. Take care at the front entry, I fell over as I was leaving due to the uneven surface. Had managed to not fall previously, so was probably because I had my hands full and couldn’t see the indent in the step as easily as before.

The location is unbeatable, close to everything like shops and transportation from airport and city. Easy walk to Coogee Beach. The room facilities were good, including kitchenette and very clean bathroom with good shower. Overall a good stay and will probably return.
The room's décor is too old fashion and needs updating. The heavy curtains and furniture are not necessary and make the rooms smaller. One of the windows had a crack and the other could not be opened properly. The heavy dusty blankets were not great. I prefer duvets with clean covers.

Lovely reception from George, who kindly let us check in early after a long haul flight, and even offered to upgrade us to a bigger room with a queen bed instead of a double. We met another member of staff who was also very friendly. The check in process was smooth and easy, all very pleasant. The room was large, very quiet, with a mini kitchen which was great to have tea. Bathroom is simple, but very clean and toiletries are lovely. The fan works super well, so towels dry rapidly even though there’s no window. The house is lovely and makes you feel at home. The pillows were great. Superb location, quiet and so close to all necessary amenities and the L2 tram line.
We didn’t like the covers and we would have preferred a duvet (but that’s a personal choice). The bed was a bit bouncy. Light from the hallway comes through the door all night, so you might need a sleeping mask.

We chose the hotel because we fell in love with the period architecture first and foremost, but as it was at the end of our 3 week first time trip to Australia, we also chose it because it had a fridge and a microwave in case we wanted to chill out in the evening rather than heading out every night. We had 2 Queen Beds, which were amazingly comfortable - great curtains to keep the daylight out, a good sized shower with wonderful hot water. Not only that, cleaning products for washing crockery, mugs rather than small coffee cups which was an added bonus. Great bathroom products too. And to top it all off, Richard on the Reception when we arrived was very happy to inform us that his Grandfather was born just a couple of streets away from where we currently live (a tiny village between the river and the sea in Over Wyre - a bit like being at the end of the world). How crazy is that? It was obviously meant to be that we stayed here....
Other than a communal area where you could meet with other guests would possibly have been the icing on the cake, but not a necessity or requirement. There's nothing that we didn't like and we're very pleased we booked it from the outset. It fulfilled all of our needs, allowing us to visit both Bondi and Coogee beaches AND, we got to see the megabats flying out of Centennial Parklands over the town at dusk, after we had been down to see them wakening up in the trees. Go visit the colony - find it immediately behind the Duck Pond. The gates close at dusk - so don't get locked in!

It is such an elegant hotel. I had a lot of fun exploring the place and admiring all of the little details. I was grateful to be able to open the windows since most hotels lock them. I had a beautiful view. The bed was so comfortable! I would’ve booked an extra night just to sleep in the bed. I appreciated the amount of blankets and covers, it was very generous. The bathroom was very cute, I loved the tiles. The microwave and the fridge/freezer worked perfectly. The Manager, George, was very welcoming. I appreciated the detail he put into the after hours instructions. In every aspect you are shown the care put into this hotel. The Guest Information book was thoughtfully put together to describe local services. I enjoyed reading about the history of the hotel. It was initially a home built by a father for his family of 8 and later it was used as a school. It really is a perfect location. Right across from a spacious park and close to many shops, there is so much to explore. It was also a 5 minute walk to the bus stop which was really handy in getting to Sydney Central.
You can occasionally hear other guests banging. This wasn’t an issue as I only stayed in the hotel at night. I didn’t like that the bedside lamps did not have an accessible switch.

Beautiful room on top floor - very quiet and looked over garden. Well equipped with kitchenette including microwave and crockery and cutlery for prepared meal. Air conditioner was quiet and kept the room nice and warm. George our host was very helpful allow us to stay later as we had an afternoon flight. Bus and tram transport was very convenient for trip to CBD and eastern beaches. Nice walk to Coogee Beach.
The 3 flights of stairs after a full day of walking - but is an old building and to be expected. Beautiful stairway made up for the climb.

beautiful building & room, I enjoyed the big balcony with overlooking the park. quiet area but still close to restaurants, laundry, shopping and public transportation. I really liked the Randwick neighborhood, enjoyed walking to Coogee beach from the hotel. I appreciated also the well equipped small kitchen area in the room to prepare some food. good wifi as well for working remotely and watching Netflix. Great value for the money in my opinion. I would definitely come back.
because its an old ( but beautiful!) building, it smells also a bit old in the room. but with air freshener its no problem :)

The property had charn on old style bungalow with wooden stairs. I was upgraded and the room was massive, so was the bathroom. The aircon also had a heater which did its job perfectly. All the kitchnette were given and didn't really miss the kitchen
Would hace been nice if there was a common space of kitchen were basic things like biiling eggs, preparing simple pancakes would have been great. I think managment could allocate a small space somewhere
